What if you held in your hand the how-to manual for working with your

manager and coworkers?

Imagine if this unique guide contained a code that could predict how people will behave in a wide range of situations...

including how they will react to you?

What if this understanding also revealed how you can thrive at work?

Such a framework exists through a simple four-style model of behavior known as DISC. Based on Daniel Silvert’s book, Taking Flight!, (Pearson), participants will quickly recognize the eagles, parrots, owls, and doves in their co-workers, managers, and clients. How does each style handle stress, share information, manage their time and assess priorities? What is the hidden genius of each style and how can you actualize these powerful abilities in others? Understanding and applying the styles-as-birds makes self-awareness easy, and participants will immediately put them to use. Co-workers will work better, smarter, and handle their differences with less stress.

Learn how adopting the right style with the right person reveals effective strategies for handling a wide range of situations. These simple but critical behavioral shifts will transform individual and team performance.

THE SESSION EMPOWERS LEADERS TO:• Understand the behavioral styles of self and others• Discover how one's own behavior impacts personal and group success• Identify ways to adapt behavior to the person and the situation• Improve team communication and morale• Identify motivators and fears that impact the decision making-process for each style• Create strategies to improve relationships and performance

Whether your team is wrestling with strategic decisions that impact the entire organization, or is focused in a specialized area, your group dynamics will play a critical role in achieving your goals. As a cornerstone of emotional intelligence, understanding behavioral styles will reveal key strategies for developing the full capabilities of your team.

TEAM EFFECTIVENESS

ACCOUNTABILITY IN ACTION (Duration: ½ day or 1 day)

Accountability in Action takes an in-depth look at how individual perceptions of accountability play a major collective role in shaping workplace culture.

The word "accountability" is often synonymous with blame. The result? The art of avoiding accountability has become all too common, leading to dysfunction and poor performance. Individual talent is not enough to accomplish team objectives, a culture of collective accountability is essential to achieving high performance.

This session engages participants in a series of activities that reveal how accountability is currently perceived by the group, followed by in-depth discussions around the real world challenges and issues that are unique to your organization.

PARTICIPANTS WILL: • Rate their current culture of accountability• Identify de-motivators within the organization that limit performance• Eliminate obstacles restricting group cooperation• Enhance trust among team members• Establish clear goals regarding individual performance and team outcomes• Discover the DONE execution model• Learn to take the “The High Road” in communication

This exercise will enable your team to recast "accountability" as a source of collective strength. The group will engage in candid discussions that build trust and discover execution models that create transparency around each member's role in accomplishing team objectives.

DECONSTRUCTING SILOS (Duration: ½ day)

In Deconstructing Silos, participants will explore how silo-based thinking impacts organizations at every level, while also discovering a range of strategies to unleash the power of alignment.

Organizations that build a culture of collaboration galvanize their fullest range of resources to efficiently accomplish strategic goals. Too often, however, departments and project teams operate as distinct entities, pursuing their own objectives while under-utilizing the resources and capabilities that surround them.

IN DECONSTRUCTING SILOS, PARTICIPANTS WILL: • Identify the sure-fire signs that silos exist in an organization• Discuss the impact of silo-thinking on productivity• Develop strategies that reward collaboration• Discover how to create greater transparency in resources• Create a Unifying Goal: The single, time sensitive, rallying cry that galvanizes the team• Learn the power of story-telling to re-brand your team’s or department’s internal brand• Revealing the power of Daily Huddles

In the session’s key exercise, participants will work together to create a Unifying Goal that aligns the team’s focus over the next 6 to 12 months. Your team will achieve clarity around their highest and best use of collaborative resources and have an execution plan assembled to move forward with confidence.

GUIDING POSITIVE CHANGE (DURATION: ½ DAY)

In Guiding Positive Change we take an in-depth look at the strategies for implementing successful change initiatives. Generally, people embrace change when they can (1) relate to the larger vision, (2) understand how they personally benefit, (3) participate in the process itself, (4) believe in the leader, and (5), agree that the timing is right to change. Winning buy-in at each of these stages requires planning ahead for the fears, sensitivities, turf battles, and general wariness that is likely to arise in the early stages of change.

In Guiding Positive Change we share strategies for effectively managing the change cycle: Denial, Resistance and Anger, Bargaining, Acceptance and Support.

TOPICS INCLUDE: • Discovering strategies for working best with The Advocate, The Ambivalent, and The Critic • Understanding the role of Conversational Leadership in winning buy-in at every level • Creating a safe environment for people to express themselves • Transforming resistance to change into pro-active involvement • Utilizing the F.L.O.W. Model • Developing skills, providing resources, and aligning rewards

Guiding positive change is easier to accomplish when one understands that what you say is not always what they hear. In this skills-packed program participants will discover tools and methods to maximize their own potential to grow with change.

GENERATIONS @ WORK (DURATION: ½ DAY)

For the first time in American history there are four generations working side by side in the workplace. Each generation (Traditionalists, Baby Boomers, Generation X, and Millenials) brings a unique worldview and strongly held perception of what "normal" looks like at the office. These perspectives create expectations, habits, and motivational buttons that often conflict with those of other generations.

In Generations at Work we take an in depth look at how this dynamic can be harnessed to improve organizational culture and team performance.

TOPICS INCLUDE: • Discover how each generation views team dynamics • Independence vs. team-orientation, face-to-face vs. digital communication • Work / life balance expectation • Discuss the work styles that win each generation’s respect • Tapping the value of reverse mentoring and creating knowledge transfer systems • Understanding and leveraging the motivational buttons of each generation • Execution: What each generation expects of the other

In Generations at Work we take participants through a revealing and entertaining look at why each generation has the perspective they do, present a range of options for avoiding the most common disruptive issues that arise, and provide proven strategies for transforming a multi-generational team into a diversity of strengths.
