This testing table serves as the World Bowls reference table to settle any disputes!

NEW PRODUCTS

Our New Munro Colour Range (see p12-p13) introduced this year is made up of six exciting colours sure to brighten up everyone’s game.

We are now the offi cial suppliers of bowls with the following logos to Glasgow Rangers, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham and The Scottish Football Association (Scotland).

We have also added a new turquoise piped Tiree top to the ladies clothing range (see p28).Look out this Spring for our new Olympus shoe range (see p34).

SCOTTISH CARPET/ SHORT MAT BOWLING

As the names suggest, both games originated in Scotland and are played as follows: Scottish Carpet Bowling played on low felt covered table 3’ wide and 24’ long using -

512 Set of (3 ¾”) non-biased, unmounted Carpet Bowls, consisting of 8 Black and 8 Brown Bowls. (3 ¾”) non-biased Carpet Bowls, either Black or Brown with mounts as required.

Scottish Short Mat Bowling played on a carpet 12’ wide (minimum 9’) using No. 5 bias bowls, manufactured to special order from our Lignoid Range.

The Flexi-Dri waterproofs are now available in both grey and blue which are smart, sporty, practical and comfortable.

This wet weather gear is engineered from a technologically advanced, breathable, lightweight, windproof material with a clever elastane infl uence for greater mobility particularly around the arm and leg areas. With taped seams and stretch mesh lining the waterproofs off er a comfortable, fl exible fi t for a smooth, non restrictive delivery.

The blue or mid grey coloured panelling is on the inside of the collar, the side panels and underarm area – traditionally the worst areas for the garments soiling. Piping in the same tone enhances the shoulders, pocket detail and around the zipped area of the trousers.

Designed with help and advice from the top offi cials and in conjunction with information gleaned from bowlers at all levels of the game.

Our designers took into account modern technology, accuracy, ease of use, quality and value in their conquest for these specifi cations.

Both models are manufactured to exacting standards to incorporate a secure measuring mechanism and are housed within a solid colour injection moulded casing. The cord is a fi ne, fl exible, silver nylon coated, multi-strand, steel cable. Common to each model is a ridged base to ensure a secure, non-slip foundation.

It’s been another bumper year for our ever growing band of sponsored players with Darren Burnett once again the jewel in our crown. The Arbroath Community policemen won the all Taylor fi nal against Ryan Bester at Kelvingrove to add the Common-wealth gold singles title to the world indoor singles and the world triples title he won in Adelaide three years ago. We have three more world champions from the UK to welcome into the winners enclosure. Laura Daniels tasted success for the third year running, this time celebrating the Just Retirement singles after narrowly missing out on a third world mixed pairs title in a row to her Welsh counterpart Marion Purcell, who partnered Rob Paxton, while Ire-land’s Chloe Watson is the new WIBC Under 25 singles champion. Massive congratulations to our stalwart David Gourlay who fi nished his reign as Scotland’s High Performance Coach with a brace of trophies. He was named the Scottish Coach of the Year at a glittering ceremony in Glasgow and then picked up a Lifetime Achievement Award from the WBT – the professional arm of the sport. Darren’s younger brother Ryan took Australia by storm in the Under 25 World Championships at Broadbeach in November. On his fi rst foray representing his country overseas, Ryan was pipped in the singles in another all Taylor head to head by our rising star Dylan Fisher from Melbourne and along with Stacey Laidlaw was edged out with the last bowl of the match in the mixed pairs title to Malaysia. Stacey claimed the Scottish Under 25 singles silverware while Lesley Doig, who also won silver in Broadbeach, is the new national singles title holder.

Our own “King of Crown” Gary Ellis equalled Brian Duncan’s record of fi ve Waterloo titles in September. Good bowling to everyone for the coming season.
