2015 Sports Scholarships

UWA Sport And recreAtion ASSociAtion

As part of its “Pathways to Excellence” program, UWA Sports works in conjunction with the University to deliver a range of sport scholarships and bursaries for UWA students.

The purpose of these scholarships is to support promising student athletes in attaining excellence in their chosen sport, while maintaining high academic achievements.

All students of UWA who are eligible for a sport scholarship are encouraged to apply via the UWA Sports website at www.sport.uwa.edu.au. Applications close Friday 27 February 2015.

Scholarship ConditionsScholarship recipients are expected to:

• Represent the relevant UWA Sports Club where applicable

• Participate in the Australian University Games or Championships and Tertiary Sports WA competitions

• Maintain a successful academic record

• Contribute to the UWA community

Scholarship CriteriaScholarship applications will be

assessed on the following criteria:

• Sporting achievements• Academic performance• Commitment to UWA

Scholarship BenefitsBenefits include:

• Financial assistance up to $3,000• 12 month membership to the UWA

Recreation and Fitness Centre• Access to sport science

assessments and testing• Participation in leadership courses • Academic representation to the

holder’s faculty or the University• Mentor Program

2015 Mentor Program

The Mentor Program will provide student scholarship awardees access to a mentor to grown their sporting career and professional development while at university and to increase their networking skills.

The aim of the Mentor Program is to give current scholarhips holders the ability to engage with UWA sporting alumni, who can offer support and professional advice.

Scholarship Categories

For all scholarships, preference is given to students who are members of the respective UWA Sports Club.

Convocation Sport Scholarships

The University of Western Australia, through the UWA Sport and Recreation Association (UWA Sports), provides sporting, fitness and recreational opportunities for the University community. Visit www.sport.uwa.edu.au and apply online today.

Sports, annually selects one male and one female athlete to receive these scholarships. The highest award available under the UWA Sport scholarship Program, this scholarship is available to athletes from any sport.

WM (Bob) Nunn Scholarship

This scholarship is named after the late WM (Bob) Nunn, the only UWA student to have been awarded four Full Blues. The scholarship is awarded to the most outstanding student who is commencing undergraduate study at UWA in 2015.

Development Scholarships

These are presented each year to students who show potential in their chosen sport and require assistance to progress to an elite level.

General Sport Scholarships

These are awarded to selected athletes and are not sport specific.

Sport Specific Scholarships

These are open to student members of UWA Sports Clubs currently competing at the highest level in their respective competitions. These scholarships are funded jointly by the relevant UWA Sports Club or program and UWA Sports on a matched basis.
