In order to make waves and build brand recognition on the global cycling stage, Smith has produced an inspirational cycling-focused commercial, “The Pursuit,” that stays true to our brand and belief that The experience is everything.TM

About: At Smith, we are all about the thrill of human experience, no matter what the sport. The goal of “The Pursuit” is intended to introduce the Smith perspective to a new audience of cycling enthusiasts. Using the metaphor of chasing down a lead group of riders (lead by Christian Vande Velde), the story is what drives each of us as we pursue our passions. Life is not about a finish line. Life is about the journey.

We start speeding along a wide open road at dawn. A group of cyclists is far ahead in the distance, but we are gaining on them. As we reach the riders, we close in on the lead rider (Christian Vande Velde). The world whips by in parallax. From this view, we realize that this, this feeling, is why we are out there – the thrill of the open road, the spin, the drive, the grind, all of it. Then we connect this thrill-chasing to all of Smith. Whether you’re are passionate about surfing, fishing, skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, or exploring the outdoors, the feeling is the same. The experience is everything.

Inspiration: Cycling is a sport of movement, and with “The Pursuit” we wanted to create something that brought the viewer along on the ride. We believe that what we do is more than just make the world’s highest performing helmets and eyewear. We wanted to focus on the rider – the athlete. This is our real product, our real inspiration. We make highly considered products for high performance athletes. This is why we make the all new Overtake helmet.
