My name is David Hersey. I am a Senior Secondary Education/Mathematics Major with a Minor in Psychology here at Lesley University. On the baseball team my position is catcher and have occasionally played first base and pitch.

I came to Lesley for both Baseball and the Education Program. I have had a great experience both on and off the field. I have meet so many amazing peo-ple and friends that I will have for the rest of my life. The courses have been engaging and very helpful for my future. On the field I have been a 3-year starter and plan to do the same this year and be a leader in my senior year.

Last year I received the honor of being named to the NECC Second Team All-Conference. My teammates are amazing and I wouldn’t have asked for a better family of guys. My next steps in life are to become a Middle or High School teacher somewhere in New England. I hope to get my Masters Degree and eventually become an Athletic Director at a High School. I want to help children have a great life experience in whatever they do and show them that they too can go to school and play sports.

NECC BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEKCasey Blanchard, Lesley University

Blanchard powered the Lynx offense with some timely hitting in the doubleheader sweep of Daniel Web-ster on Friday night. The junior knocked in three runs, including a two-run double, in a 5-0 game one victory before adding two more RBI’s in a 6-0 game two win for the Lynx. Blanchard added another RBI double in the nightcap and scored one run in each game. NECC BASEBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEKNick Iadevaio, Lesley University

Iadevaio capped his week while making some Lesley program history. The rookie took the mound and hurled a complete game shutout over Daniel Webster College on Friday night, yielding just one hit while striking out two. The one-hitter sets a mark for fewest hits allowed in a start in program history. In game one of the doubleheader, Iadevaio finished 1-for-3 with a run scored in a 5-0 win while also collecting a double in a loss to Framingham State on Wednesday.

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – After a week that saw the Lynx nab two New England Collegiate Conference victories over Daniel Webster College, junior Casey Blanchard (Bernardston, Mass.) and freshman Nick Iadevaio (Mineola, N.Y.) were named NECC Player of the Week and NECC Rookie of the Week, respec-tively. The duo helped power the Lynx to a 2-1 week and a perfect 2-0 mark in NECC play as the Lynx swept a doubleheader from DWC on Friday Night. Lesley will continue NECC play on Tuesday when they square off with Elms College at the New England Collegiate Baseball Complex in Northborough.

double down the left field line that plated Iadevaio and Parson on the play.

Daniel Webster starter Ariel Ramos (Lowell, Mass.) pitched well for the Eagles, throwing seven innings and giving up six hits, five runs (four earned), and three walks while striking out three.

Iadevaio was brilliant for the Lynx in game two, allowing just one hit in the complete game shutout as he earns the first victory of his career. The one hit allowed breaks the record for least amount of hits allowed in a game. The previous record of two hits was held by Jeff Landry ‘14 and Tom Muratore, who completed the feat last week.

After allowing a single in the third inning, Iadevaio erased 12 of the next 13 batters to help lead the Lynx to the doubleheader sweep. Lesley’s offense aid-ed the rookie with a run in the first and third innings, respectively, before the Lynx put together a four run sixth to provide some breathing room. Junior Gustavo Polidor (Caracas, Venezuela) started the rally with a one-out double in the left-centerfield gap before coming around on a Blanchard double off the left field fence. Blanchard moved to third on an errant throw on the play and scored Lesley’s second run of the inning on a single by Joe Muratore.

Gosnell kept the line moving as he connected for the third double of the inning that scored Muratore before Slaby drove in Lesley’s fourth run with a triple to right-centerfield. Blanchard added two more RBI to his day and now leads the team with 16 on the season. Gosnell finished 2-for-3 with a run scored while Parson went 1-for-4 at the dish with an RBI and a run scored.
