Fitness Class Intensity Levels – The intensity levels are used as a guideline. Each individual may choose to work at their own pace. Warm Up is an important component of your workout - please show up on time for your classes.

Cardio Circuit A drop-in ‘do it all’ circuit class that will get your heart pumping with this High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) type of class. This class has a spontaneous, non-choreographed style that appeals to everybody wanting a challenge.

Saturday Spin Challenge yourself to this 45-minute indoor cycling class. It’s a great way to get in a vigorous workout, while burning calories. Go through the hills, sprints & intervals while listening to motivating and upbeat music. Participants modify their own cycling resistance and pace. **Please Note: this class is not included with monthly passes or punch cards**

Fitness Lite 1 This is a beginner’s fitness class for those new to exercise or with diminishing flexibility and mobility. Focus is on building strength and flexibility using light weights and non-impact cardio moves.

Fitness Lite 2 A step-up from Fitness Lite 1, this class is low impact and fun! Easy on the joints with slower, fluid movements. Easy 10 minute warm-up, followed by 20 minutes of joint friendly cardio, 20 minutes of strength training, and 10 minutes of stretching.

Yoga Fitness A wonderful way to stretch and strengthen, blending Hatha Yoga postures in a Vinyasa Flow style of class and is suitable for most fitness levels. Bring your own yoga mat, blocks and straps if you have them.

Core Essentials A variety of functionally inspired exercises that include a variety of equipment and mat work combined to build better core strength, posture, balance and flexibility. Not suitable for those with back issues.

Retro Robics Come in for a faster paced full body workout based on traditional aerobic format. Warm up, choreographed cardio followed by a segment of strength training incorporating a variety of equipment. A well deserved relaxation/ stretch completes the mind-body connection for this workout.

Restorative - restorative fitness, no impact. May require medical clearance. Aquatic InformationFour-lane, 25-metre pool heated at 28°C (84°F) features: trampoline • diving board • slides • rope swing• aquatic lift • basketball hoops • removable stairs • climbing wall • water run-ways. Therapy pool accessible by ramp; heated at 34°C (94°F) & has a shallow end depth of zero sloping to four feet (aquatic wheelchairs are available for access from change rooms into therapy pool.) Whirlpool is a combination of turbulent air & 40°C (104°F) water pumped into the pool. The Sauna is a hot, dry, relaxing area that is kept at an average of 55°C (131°F). **Children under 7 years must be accompanied in water & within arms reach of parent or or person 19 years plus. Ratio of children under 7yrs to one adult must be no greater than 2 children.

Swim Kids Level 9: Increased development of strokes learned; Head first surface dives, making wise choices; complications with rescue breathing, ice self-rescue, & boating regulations.

Swim Kids Level 10: Refinement of all strokes, fitness & sun safety, ice safety; rescue of others, surface dives with underwater swims & what’s next?

Strokes for Kids - Concentrate on developing technically efficient strokes for ages 6-12yrs, comfortable swimming on front & back. Offered with all lesson sets.

Strokes 1 & 2– Teen & Adult - Learn to swim more efficiently & build strength & endurance; should be able to swim 1 length of the pool .

Aqua Adults: Would you like to add swimming to your fitness & recreation portfolio? The Aqua Adult swim lessons are for you. Offered in the evenings with every mon/wed lesson set .

Private Swim Lessons: Are you interested in private or semi-private swimming lessons? Private lessons can be booked for $25 for 30 minutes & semi-private are $15 per person for 30 minutes.

TRAILS, LOOPS & WALKSESTUARY TRAIL This 10-minute walk along the harbour offers views of the marine environment. At low tide enjoy a shoreline stroll to Transfer Beach Park & connect to the Marine Walk. See salmon entering Holland Creek in the fall. Access from a small parking lot located at Roland Road.

HEART LAKE LOOPThis challenging 6.4 km trail takes about 2 hours to hike. Spectacular views of the Town, Gulf Islands & Mount Baker make the climb worth the effort. The trail start is very steep. Access is from Davis Road Park or the Holland Creek Trail. Swimming permitted at own risk; day use only, no camping or open fires permitted.

HERITAGE ROUTE WALKThis route highlights Ladysmith’s history of coal mining, forestry, rail & marine industry connecting our living heritage downtown to the working waterfront. The Heritage Route brochure is available at the Visitor Information Centre or at www.tourismladysmith.ca.

HOLLAND CREEK TRAILThis trail winds 5.8 km along both sides of the Creek & ap-peals to outdoor enthusiasts of all ages. Highlights include Crystal Falls & the Colliery Dams. Salmon spawning occurs every fall. The trail is wheelchair accessible with some assistance from the Methuen/6th Ave. entrance.

MARINE WALKPart of the Trans Canada Trail this 1 km walk starts at Transfer Beach. The trail passes the LMS Community Marina & follows an old abandoned railway path to the Government Wharf.

ROTARY LOOKOUT TRAILThis trail is a short 1.2 km walk. At the top, enjoy the breathtaking view & stop for a picnic lunch. This trail is ac-cessed near the log bridge at the top of the Holland Creek Trail.

STOCKING LAKE TRAILA challenging 11.8 km trail that begins at Davis Road Park & takes about 2.5 hours to hike. Views of the Gulf Islands from this beautiful winding trail that intersects the Heart Lake Loop. This is the community water supply; no camping, swimming, fishing or boating permitted.

SKATEBOARD PARKThe outdoor skate park has 1/4 pipes, pyra-mids, stairs, funbox rails & more. Adjacent to the Frank Jameson Community Centre.

SPIRIT SQUARE & LIONS PARKLadysmith’s Spirit Square, opened in 2011, is a dynamic public square where people of all ages gather for quiet time, play or celebrations. A children’s playground is located at Lions Park. Located at 2nd Avenue, between Buller Street & High Street.

STONEWALL PARKThis linear park is located on Ridgway Place.

TRANSFER BEACH PARKThis centrally located seaside park is a major gathering spot for activities & community events. Go for a swim, have a picnic, paddle a kayak, or enjoy the fabulous spray park & play-ground. Live music events during the summer months at the large amphitheatre. Offers a dog-off leash area. Located just off the Trans Canada Highway in downtown Ladysmith.

DAVIS ROAD PARKNatural linear park providing access to Holland Creek, Stocking Lake & Heart Lake trails.

GOURLAY-JANES PARKA short hike through a forest leads to a beautiful open space bordering the Ladysmith Harbour. Located on Chemainus Road.

HARBOURVIEW PARKThis neighbourhood park is located on Louise Road & boasts an open green space, playground & ocean view.

KINSMEN PARK & PLAYGROUNDThis neighbourhood park offers a large open green space with a small brook. The Kinsmen Club of Ladysmith, with community partners, installed a new playground in 2011.

QUEEN’S PARKThis pretty hillside neighbourhood park overlooks the Ladysmith Harbour. The Saltair Garden Club maintains a lovely garden at this site. Access from 1st Avenue or Baden Powell Street.

ROOT STREET PARK This fenced neighbourhood park is a popular spot for young families, featuring a tot playground & small asphalt sports court.

ROTARY MEMORIAL PEACE GARDEN & CENOTAPH This small park & garden located on “Veteran’s Way” contains a monument to the local soldiers killed in WW I & WW II.
