Transcript of 2015 FACULTY PROJECT GRANT (Formerly Faculty Enrichment Grant)
The Faculty Project Grants awarded by
Art Center Faculty Council invest in
faculty projects to encourage
innovation in their fields, make special
projects possible, and advance art and
design through experimentation and
research.
The funds for the grants come
from the Samsung Endowment
for Teaching and Learning,
established in 1995.
FPG awardees are required to
produce objects, papers,
exhibitions or other tangible
results from their project.
The project cannot be the
presentation of a paper that
has already been written or
already presented.
If the project is receiving funding from
other sources (including any part of Art
Center), this funding must be disclosed
and the proposal must identify what
the other funds will be used for in
comparison to the funds from this
grant.
The project’s execution can be
completed and presented in a
concrete way within a year of
receiving the grant.
Equipment must be clearly specific
to and required to complete the
project. Proposals that exceed
30% allocation towards equipment
must present detailed justification
for the overage.
The grant would benefit Art
Center College of Design
through inspired and original
faculty projects and advances
in the fields of art or design.
Have not received a
Faculty Project Grant
(formerly Faculty Enrichment
Grant)
in the past three years.
The completed digital grant
application forms must be
emailed by midnight,
SEPTEMBER 25TH, 2015 to
Grants will be awarded in two
installments:
90% at the award of the grant.
10% after the work has been
completed and presented.
A jury composed of five
creative professionals
representing a range of
disciplines and perspectives
review the proposals.
The grants are intended to support
endeavors that might not be
possible without this award.
Applications will be scored based
on a rubric that includes the
following categories:
Does the applicant clearly
describe what the project is
about, what he/she is proposing
to do and why, and what the
proposed outcome will be?
Has the applicant shown that
he/she will be able to complete
the project within a year of
receiving the grant?
Do the main goals of the
proposal seem appropriate for
an innovative faculty project
and the advancement of their
field?
Do the benefits of the proposal
to the applicant merit the
award of the grant funds? Is
the proposal possible to
achieve without a grant?
The application form is a
Microsoft Word document that is
to be modified and submitted by
email. Applications not submitted
using this form may be
disqualified.
The proposal is limited to
10,000 characters, what
generally would be three
pages, about 1,500 words,
single-spaced, 12 pt. font.
Carefully detail all anticipated
expenses. List expenses by
category (Materials, Outside
Service/Labor, Travel, Fees,
Rentals, Other, Equipment) and
