The City and County Employee Wellness Fair was a great success! Around 300 people attended the fair Wednesday, February 25th at the City County Building and received information about nutrition, physical activity, tobacco cessation and stress management. The halls were filled with energy as employees interacted with 58 vendors from local businesses, City departments and nonprofit agencies, including bicycle shops, grocery stores, chiropractic offices, massage providers, food coops and much more. More than 60 people won door prizes donated by the vendors such as gift cards, tote bags, StarTran bus passes and gym memberships. We received a lot of positive feedback from vendors and attendees. One vendor said it was “great to have an opportunity for community members to get information on a healthy lifestyle.” About 97 percent of those who filled out evaluation forms said they learned new valuable health information and that they would use this information to “improve my overall health,” “find a new gym,” “eat locally grown veggies” and “improve work outs.” Thank you to all who attended and to the volunteers who helped make the fair run smoothly.
