HARBOR HOUSE OF LOUISVILLE 2015 ANNUAL REPORT | 3

Letter From the CEODear Friends:

Another year has concluded here at Harbor House and many new initiatives are underway. The wheels are in motion moving us to an exciting 2016!

Thanks to the generosity of The Gheens Foundation, our Home Sweet Home program is offi cially open for business. Our Home Sweet Home program brings together two vulnerable segments of the population, the disabled and the elderly. Our participants are engaged in the community by providing light housekeeping and grocery shopping for seniors and others physically unable to perform these activities. Since April, the Home Sweet Home program is working in 14+ homes per month. Little chores are opening doors for individuals with disabilities and fostering relationships between our participants and seniors.

Keeping our participants on the move, Harbor House will be introducing another new program, Transportation, in 2016. Thanks to the generous donations from King’s Daughters & Sons Foundation, UPS Foundation and GE ECF Fund, we were able to secure a new wheelchair-accessible van. Our transportation program will allow us to transport our participants to and from Harbor House on a daily basis, as well as, allowing our participants to be out in the community each day. A second new wheelchair accessible van is being secured from a generous donation from Federal Program Funds through TARC.

In September, Harbor House held its 12th annual Ken-Ducky Derby. Our generous sponsors’ donations took us over $100,000, our best year ever for sponsorships! Our team from Ignite Louisville helped us launch a social media campaign that resulted in an increase of duck sales by approximately 18%.

A new look is on the horizon for Harbor House in 2016. Ignite Louisville's efforts have resulted in new branding for us. Look for the new logo on our publications in the coming year!

Keeping Harbor House vibrant and moving in the right direction is possible only through the generosity of our sponsors, donors, staff, board members, community partners and volunteers. THANK YOU for all you do for us! Your support makes it possible for us to continue to make a difference by empowering individuals with disabilities and their families to lead fulfi lled and productive lives.

Sincerely,

Maria Smith Maria Smith, CEO

Letter from the PresidentDear Harbor House Supporters:

As outgoing Board President of Harbor House, I am delighted with the exciting new programs taking shape at Harbor House. During my term as Board President, Harbor House succeeded in meeting its strategic goal of service expansion. The entire board is very pleased with all the new growth taking place at Harbor House.

Harbor House staff officially launched their Home Sweet Home program in 2015, which integrates individuals with disabilities and senior citizens. This program is showing amazing results for both the Harbor House participant and homeowner. Not only are seniors receiving services that will keep them in their homes, but relationships are being nurtured. If you would like more information on how Home Sweet Home can help you or your loved one, I urge you to call 502-719-0072, Ext. 535.

Transportation is also on the minds of the Harbor House staff. Through generous support from the community, Harbor House was able to purchase a wheel chair-accessible van. In 2016, a Transportation program will be introduced at Harbor House. This will enable the Harbor House staff to begin transporting participants to and from Harbor House on a daily basis and also keep the participants included in the community.

September found Harbor House hosting the 12th Annual Ken-Ducky Derby. Congratulations to Mike and Kimberly Terry of New Albany, IN, the winners of a 2015 Honda Fit, courtesy of Sam Swope Honda World. Mike and Kimberly have purchased a Quack Pack every year in support of the Harbor House mission. This year, a record number of ducks were sold!

Looking ahead to 2016, the board and staff at Harbor House will be embarking on a new strategic plan. Under Maria’s leadership and guidance, the mission of continuing to empower individuals with disabilities and their families to lead fulfilled and productive lives will permit Harbor House to be here for future generations.

I encourage you to learn more about Harbor House and become involved by attending one of their monthly tours. This tour will only take an hour out of your day, but I assure you the impact it will have will last a lifetime. Consider sharing with Harbor House, your time, talent and resources.

Sincerely,

Jim MorrisJim Morris, President

Home Sweet Home

Do you know someone that needs light house cleaning?

Home Sweet Home (HSH), a division of Harbor House of Louisville, offers yet another way for our participants to be a resource to our community.

HSH is a service based program offering stay-at-home seniors in the Louisville community in-home services such as light cleaning, laundry and grocery shopping.

For seniors, a regular helping hand takes away the burden of cleaning but adds the benefi t of fostering a friendship with a well-trained and hard-working Harbor House participant. For our participants, they learn responsibility, earn a pay check and practice social skills while also making a new friend.

Prices starting at $25 per hour: Standard services can include, but are not limited to: sweeping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, garbage removal, wiping counters, furniture and sinks. (1 hr. min/4 hr. max)

“David does an excellent job. He’s keeping my pride alive. I would recommend him to anybody.”

“It has been a godsend. I’ve grown very attached to the person cleaning my home. Days that I don't feel like maybe everything

is good, she brings light into my life”

Oaks Day Golf Outing a HUGE Success! On May 1st, C.I. Agent Solutions and Dan & Mary Parker raised over $15,000 for Harbor House through the Oaks Day Golf Outing!

It started 35 years ago when a group of best buddies got together to play a little golf before heading to the race track. In 1995 the same group of friends decided to expand their annual outing to include more friends and business associates and to raise money for local charities

and/or foundations. Since 1995 the outing, the Annual Oaks Day Golf Tournament has raised more than $118,000. Donations are split between Harbor House in memory of Katie Jett, Jack Combs III and the Matt Woolley Memorial Scholarship Fund at Trinity High School in memory of Matt Woolley.

Thank you to C.I. Agent Solutions and Dan & Mary Parker for your continued support!

He and his family have also made 2 appearances on Family Feud and he has recently written a book, I Am Potential, which has been turned into a movie.

All the Harbor House participants loved meeting Patrick and his father. Patrick shared his inspirational story, as well as sang songs with the participants out on the patio.
