A Season of Believing!

“Sometimes you believe a thing that isn’t true because in the world you wish to live in, it would be true.” - Robert Brault

Welcome to what promises to be an amazing season of believing at Stages Theatre Company. This season we are bringing nine beloved stories to life on our stage, and at the core of each of them is confidence, conviction, faith and reliability.

There are so many things so many of us need to believe. Our 2015-2016 Season brings us: -- A little one who needs to believe it doesn’t matter how he looks or what he becomes, he

will be loved. --A boy and his dog need to believe in the power of the Christmas spirit. --A young girl needs to believe that she can help her friend survive and return home, even in the most dire of situations. --A young man needs to believe he is more than a bully. --An orphan needs to believe that there will always be a brighter day. And much, much more.

By definition, to BELIEVE is to accept something as true; to feel sure of that truth. We are creating a world here at Stages Theatre Company that we all “wish to live in,” that we want our children to live in. We are creating through our stories a world full of goodness, understanding, make-believe and comfort; who wouldn’t want to live in that world?

One thing I know is that there is something for everyone in Stages Theatre Company’s 2015-16 Season. I promise, you can believe in that.

Written by Louis Sachar, based on his novel

Newbery and National Book Award winner Louis Sachar, author of Holes and Sideways Stories from Wayside School, says Bradley Chalker (the “boy” in the title) is his favorite character. All the kids think Bradley is a “monster,” and Bradley seems to agree until the new school counselor sees the likable kid beneath the bully. But just as Bradley starts to believe in himself, the school board decides to replace his much-liked counselor with a…computer. Our humorous and poignant production will show if the “monster” or the “likable kid” wins the day.
