McNeese enjoyed a historical season in 2011 when the Cowgirls went on to win a school record 26 games, producing a 26-7 overall record. McNeese also won the Southland Conference title, its first Southland Conference Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. The turnaround from a 7-22 overall record during the 2009-10 season to its 26-7 overall record during the 2010-11 season equaled the best turnaround in NCAA history. The turnaround was a 17 game difference from the previous season in which Valporaiso also did it from the 2000-2001 season to the 2001-2002 season with the same records. The 20 win season was the first in 24 years and only the fourth in program history. The Cowgirls set several records during the season which all started with a 6-0 Southland Conference start, the best start in school history. McNeese went on to produce a 15-1 league record and produced the longest SLC winning streak of the season at 12 games. That streak tied the longest school winning streak with the 1980-81 Cowgirl squad. McNeese began the season 14-5 overall, the best start in school history in 14 years. The 1996-97 team also began the year with a 14-5 record. The Cowgirls were perfect at home, producing a 13-0 home court record. Another home court record the Cowgirls broke was its attendance record. The Cowgirls played eight home games in which the attendance was over 1,000 and set the all-time school home attendance record several times during the season with the new record set in the final home game of the season against Lamar on March 5 in which 3,256 fans saw the Cowgirls clinch the regular season title. McNeese ended the season ranked 10th in the NCAA in home attendance behind Louisville, Iowa, St. John’s (N.Y.), Michigan St., West Virginia, Gonzaga, Texas A&M, Boise State, and Oregon. The Cowgirls broke into a Mid-Major Top 25 poll during the season, coming in at No. 25 in the collegeinsider.com poll on Feb. 15. McNeese ended the season ranked 15th in the final poll. During the season the men’s and women’s teams were one of three schools along with Duke and Princeton who were undefeated at home up until the final week of the regular season. The season culminated with the Cowgirls winning the Southland Conference regular season title then its first Southland Conference Tournament title and its first NCAA appearance. The Cowgirls lost 47-87 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to Texas A&M, the eventual National Champions. Head coach Brooks Donald Williams was named the Southland’s and Louisiana’s “Coach of the Year”. Ashlyn and Caitlyn Baggett were both named to the All-Southland Conference team. Ashlyn was named to the All-Louisiana first team while Caitlyn was named to the honorable mention team. Both players were named to the All-Southland Conference Academic team and Ashlyn was named the SLC’s women’s basketball Student-Athlete of the Year. Baggett also earned CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District VI second team honors.

McNeese won its first outright Southland Conference title and second overall in school history in 2011 with a 70-69 home victory over Lamar on March 5. The game came down to the last seconds as Kendra Wells sank a baseline jumper with 3.6 seconds left which proved to be the game winning basket. The Cowgirls began their championship season with a 76-51 road win at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The Cowgirls went on to win their first six conference games which is the best conference start in program history and its 14-5 overall start is the best start in 14 years (1996-97). The Cowgirls fell 73-74 in overtime at Central Arkansas for its only league loss of the season. After that loss, McNeese quickly got back on the winning track and defeated Sam Houston State on the road before winning six straight home games, a road win at Southeastern La. before closing out the regular season with the win against Lamar. McNeese didn’t lose another game until its loss to National Champion Texas A&M in the NCAA Tournament. The Cowgirls ended the season with a 15-1 conference record. The 15 victories are a school record and went undefeated (13-0) at home. McNeese produced a 12 game winning streak during the season which ties the longest in school history with the 1980-81 team. The streak was also the longest in the Southland Conference. At one point during the season, McNeese (men’s and women’s) teams were one of three undefeated teams at home during the season. The other two were Duke and Princeton.

McNeese back-to-back Southland Conference Tournament titles in 2011 and 2012 and represented the conference in the NCAA Tournament. McNeese advanced to the Southland Conference Tournament for the 14th time in school history in 2012 and won its first tournament title in 2011. The appearances made it four under head coach Brooks Donald Williams. The Cowgirls defended their tournament title in 2012, winning back-to-back titles. McNeese began its back-to-back tournament championships with a 67-55 opening round win against Southeastern La. then cruised to a 76-46 win over Texas State. McNeese held a 48-9 halftime lead over Texas State. McNeese then went on to defeat Stephen F. Austin 60-56 in the championship game. Two free throws with :01 left in the game by tournament MVP Caitlyn Baggett sealed the victory for McNeese. McNeese won its first tournament game since 2005 with a 65-55 win over Southeastern La. in the first round of the 2011tournament. The Cowgirls went on to pick up a 66-50 victory over UTSA in the semifinal game before defeating Central Arkansas 71-50 in the championship game. In the championship game, the Cowgirls held a 37-26 halftime lead and outscored Central Arkansas 34-24 in the second half to earn the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Cowgirls shot 54.7 percent from the field

and was led in scoring by tournament MVP Ashlyn Baggett. Baggett led the Cowgirls with 23 points while sister Caitlyn chipped in 15 points and dished out six assists. Kendra Wells led all players with 13 rebounds. Both Caitlyn and Wells were also named to the all-tournament team.

POSTSEASONCOWGIRLS IN THE POSTSEASON

McNeese has appeared in two NCAA Tournaments (2011 and 2012) and three WBI Tournament (2013, 2014,2015). The Cowgirls picked up heir first postseason win in 2013 with an 82-70 win over Mercer in the first round of the WBI Tournament and advanced to the championship game against Detroit Mercy. The Cowgirls played their first home WBI game in 2015 and picked up an 87-70 win over Furman. McNeese has appeared in 16 Southland Conference Tournaments including seven under head coach Brooks Donald Williams. The Cowgirls advanced to the championship game four times (2013, 2012, 2011, 1983) and have reached the semifinals seven times (2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2005, 1995, 1983).

McNeese Retired Jerseys

Ashlyn and Caitlyn Baggett (2009, 2011-13)/ Jersey Retired During 2013-14 Season Ashlyn and Caitlyn Baggett became the first two women’s basketball players to have their jersey’s retired when their jerseys were dropped down from the rafters at Burton Coliseum during the 2013-2014 season, a year following their playing careers. During their careers, the Baggetts led McNeese to three consecutive postseason tournaments (2011, 2012 NCAA; 2013 WBI) as well as two Southland Conference Tournament titles (2011, 2012) and a regular season Southland Conference Title (2011). The two also earned Southland Conference Tournament MVP honors, Ashlyn in 2011 and Caitlyn in 2012. Both players were three-time All-Southland Conference picks as well as three-time All-Louisiana selections. The duo notched their names in the McNeese record books as both ended their careers ranked second and third in career scoring. Ashlyn ended her career ranked second in scoring with 2,053 points while Caitlyn was third with 1,674 points. Ashlyn is only the second player in McNeese history to score 2,000 career points and the first to make 300 career three-pointers. Each player owns career records as well. Ashlyn is the McNeese and Southland Conference career three point leader with 308 career three-pointers. Caitlyn holds the career assists record with 550. Both players are also ranked in career steals. Ashlyn ranks ninth with 180 and Caitlyn with 178. Caitlyn also holds the single game record for free throws made and consecutive free throws made. She canned 17 consecutive free throws in 2013 against Mercer in the first round of the WBI. Off the court, the players were just as outstanding as they were on the court. Both players were named to the Southland Conference All-Academic team three times. Ashlyn was named the league’s Student-Athlete of the Year for three consecutive years and was named to the 2011-12 Capital One District 6 Academic All-America Team. Caitlyn was awarded the prestigious Southland Conference Steve McCarty Citizenship award in 2013.

Pat Jean (1980-83)/ Jersey Retired During 2014-15 Season Pat Jean’s jersey will be retired prior to the Cowgirls’ Nov. 23, 2014 game against Southern Miss. Jean, who was inducted into the McNeese Hall of Fame in 1996, was a four year letterwinner for the Cowgirls. Jean still holds the McNeese career records with 2,461 points, 1, 571 rebounds, 798 free throws attempted, 350 steals, 986 field goals made, and a 57.2 field goal percent and ranks second with 106 career blocks. Jean still holds the Southland Conference career rebound (1,571) and career rebound average (13.2) records. Jean also holds the McNeese game records for field goal percent (62.4), free throws attempted (22), rebounds (25) and season records for points (647), field goals made (258), field goal percent (62.4), free throws attempted (252), and rebounds (462). Jean was a four-time all-Louisiana selection and an all-Southland Conference pick for the only year that she played in the conference.

BROOKS DONALD WILLIAMSHEAD COACH- 9th Season

Passion, dedication, and enthusiasm are just a few words used to describe McNeese State’s winningest coach Brooks Donald Williams. Williams, who enters her ninth season as head coach of the Cowgirls, became the school’s all-time leader after a 79-74 road win at Sam Houston State, giving her 132 career wins. Williams guided McNeese to an 18-14 record in 2015 and its seventh Southland Conference Tournament appearance. After taking over a program

that didn’t have a winning record in nearly a decade, Williams has posted a 110-57 record since 2010 and led McNeese to five consecutive postseason tournaments including two NCAA Tournaments and three WBI Tournaments. Williams’ energetic and hard working demeanor have been the backbone in establishing McNeese as a force not only in the Southland Conference, but throughout the country. With a fiercely competitive Williams at the helm, the Cowgirls have posted 20 or more wins in three of the last five seasons, narrowly missing their fourth straight 20-win season in 2014 with a 19-14 record after graduating two of the programs greats, twin sisters, Ashlyn and Caitlyn Baggett in 2013. In her nine year stint, Williams has produced an overall career record of 141-117, averaging over 17 wins per season. After inheriting a team in a troubled APR situation, success in the classroom has been a focal point for the highly motivated Williams since her arrival in 2007. McNeese has produced four Southland Conference Student-Athlete of the year winners, Allison Baggett (2014) and Ashlyn Baggett (2011-2013), 10 Southland Conference All-Academic Team selections, and an impressive 100% graduation rate for players that have exhausted their eligibility. Williams has been a master at skill development during her tenure at McNeese producing 16 SLC All-Conference selections, seven SLC All-Tournament team selections, two SLC Tournament MVPs, one SLC Newcomer of the Year selection, and nine All-Louisiana selections. McNeese has won 70% (60-26) of their Southland Conference games since 2010 and ranked #1 in the SLC in scoring defense from 2010-2012. A true innovator, Williams has been instrumental in marketing her program and creating a truly exciting basketball atmosphere in Lake Charles. Under Williams, attendance has more than tripled since 2010, and her Cowgirls own the top ten home attendance records in program history, highlighted by the 4,089 fans that witnessed a highly competitive game versus LSU on December 16, 2011. Giving back to the community is one of the cornerstones of the McNeese

women’s basketball program. Williams and the Cowgirls have participated in numerous community service activities including the Ethel Precht Breast Cancer Walk, Habitat for Humanity, Buddy Ball, CADA, Special Olympics, Rowdy’s Readers, Junior League’s Fit Kids, Derby for Dollars, FCA Night of Champions, American Cancer Society Walk, Mall-0-Ween, Zydeco Festival, Lake Charles Senior Center Clean-up and the JD Bank Toys for Tots drive to name a few. In 2014, senior Cowgirl Netanya Jones received national recognition at the Women’s Final Four in Nashville, TN for her community service efforts by being named to the Allstate/WBCA Good Works Team. In August of 2013, Williams received the President’s Award for outstanding community service for a McNeese administrator. Williams was also recognized by Toys for Tots Southwest Louisiana for outstanding achievement in support of the community and for Toys for Tots in 2010. She was named one of Southwest Louisiana’s Up and Coming Under 40 recipients by the Times of Southwest Louisiana and Fusion Five in 2009. Also in 2009, Williams founded and directed the McNeese Cowgirl Basketball Lyrics and Layups fundraiser, which has evolved into an

annual community event in the spring. In 2013, Williams posted a 21-15 overall record and 11-7 conference record and advanced to the Southland Conference Tournament for the third consecutive season and sixth in last seven years. Williams picked up her 100th career victory with a 65-45 win over Northwestern State on March 13, 2013 in the opening round of the Southland Conference Tournament. Following the conference tournament, a fiery Williams led her team to the program’s first ever postseason victory with an 82-70 win over the #1 seeded Mercer Bears in the first round of the WBI. The Cowgirls continued to make program history with wins over #4 seeded Elon and #6 seeded South Dakota vaulting them into the WBI

championship game versus Detroit. In 2012, Williams led the Cowgirls to their second consecutive SLC Tournament title and NCAA Tournament. The Cowgirls nearly picked up their first NCAA Tournament win against Kentucky, falling 68-62 to the SEC regular season champions. The Cowgirls posted a 26-8 overall record and a 13-3 conference record and a 12-2 home record. Four of the eight losses were to teams ranked in the preseason Top 25 poll including the 2012 National Champs Baylor, UCLA, LSU and defending 2011 National Champions Texas A&M. The Cowgirls also played in the preseason WNIT (at UCLA) and hosted a WNIT consolation tournament, which the Cowgirls won versus Alabama Birmingham. Williams led McNeese to its most successful season in school history in 2011 by winning the Southland Conference regular season title, only the second in program history. Williams didn’t stop there as she guided the Cowgirls to their first Southland Conference Tournament title and first NCAA Tournament appearance that same year. For her accomplishments on the court, Williams was named the league’s and Louisiana’s Coach of the Year. Williams led the Cowgirls to a 26-7 overall record, 15-1 Southland

A native of Jennings, La., Williams spent three years at the University of Southern Mississippi. Prior to her stint with the Lady Eagles, she spent one season at the University of Memphis and three years at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock. Williams served as recruiting coordinator at all three universities. She signed several prep standouts throughout her recruiting years and all three recruiting classes at Southern Miss ranked among some of the best in the region. She signed the Arkansas Player of the Year, Mississippi Player of the Year, a junior college All-American, as well as ten Top 100 players in the country. Between college stops, Williams served temporarily as head coach at St. Thomas More High in Lafayette, La. As a prep player at Jennings High, Williams earned All-State, All-Parish

and All-District honors. She was a four-year starter and played in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association all-star game, serving as team captain. Her Jennings squad won four straight district titles. Williams was also a member of the Acadiana Stars AAU program during her prep days, participating in state and national tournaments. She was a member of the Lady Bulldogs squad at Mississippi State University, from which she holds a bachelor degree, but her playing career was sidelined due to injuries. Williams is the daughter of Jennings community members, David and Brenda Donald and the granddaughter and great niece of Dan L. Donald and

Walter “Bunk” Donald, former Jennings business leaders and owners of W.B. Donald Chevrolet and Cadillac and founders of Jeff Davis Bank & Trust Company. Williams’ uncle, Dan Donald, currently serves as Chairman of the board of JD Bank. Williams has one brother, The Reverend Seth Donald, who resides in Lake Charles and serves as the Associate Priest at Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. She has three nieces, Mary Brooks, Eliza, and Mae Donald. Williams’ family coaching mentor is her uncle and godfather, Doug Fowler. Coach Fowler, a 2008 Mississippi Association of Coaches Hall of Fame inductee is an extremely active leader of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and former Mississippi Association of Coaches executive director who served the coaching profession for over 40 years in the high school and collegiate ranks. The 37 year old is married to Tyler Williams, a native of Memphis, Tennessee. Tyler currently serves as Vice President and Marketing Director for JD Bank.

Conference record, and an undefeated home record (15-0) during the 2010-11 season. The 20-win season was the first for the Cowgirls in 24 years. The overall record matched the best turnaround in NCAA history following a 7-22 record in 2009-10. The 26 overall and 15 conference wins are school records. The Cowgirls got off to their best conference start (6-0) in school history and the 14-5 start was the best overall start in 14 years. McNeese tied the school’s longest winning streak (12 games) and won 19 of its last 21 games of the season. McNeese broke into a poll for the first time in school history, the collegeinsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Women’s Basketball poll on Feb. 15, 2011, coming in at No. 25. The Cowgirls ended the season ranked No. 15 in the final poll. In 2009, McNeese picked up a milestone victory with a win over three-time National Champions Louisiana Tech. That year the Cowgirls shot a school record, led the Southland Conference (for the second straight year), and ranked 76th in the nation with a 71.8 free throw percent in 2009. The Cowgirls also ranked second in the SLC with a 34.3 three-point field goal percent. In her first season, Williams guided the Cowgirls to a 10-21 record and a second place tie in the East Division after being picked to finish sixth in the preseason polls. Williams led the Cowgirls to victories in four of their last six games and advanced to the Southland Conference Tournament. Williams’ 2007-08 squad broke seven McNeese records (six team and one individual), tied two, and set a Southland Conference record with 16 three-pointers made in a road victory at Lamar. The Cowgirls handed the Cardinals their first home loss of the season that night. The Cowgirls also upset longtime national powerhouse Stephen F. Austin and eventual Southland Conference Tournament champion and NCAA participant Texas-San Antonio. McNeese ended the season leading the league in free throw shooting percent, ranked second in three-point field goals made and assist-turnover ratio, and ranked third in three-point field goal percent. Williams, McNeese’s ninth head coach, brought interest and excitement back to the Cowgirl program in her first season and has built it into a championship program. In her first full recruiting season at McNeese, Williams continued to show why she is a proven recruiter by signing the Louisiana 3A and 5A state MVP’s and the Northeast Louisiana “Player of the Year”. The following year, Williams signed the 2009 Louisiana Sports Writers’ Miss Basketball and Class B outstanding player and MVP, along with two local all-state players and a national junior college scoring leader. Off the court, the ambitious Williams continues to be involved in the growth and development of women’s basketball at the regional and national levels. She has been a member of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association for over a decade. Williams is currently serving in her fourth year as the WBCA Southland Conference Captain. She is also serving in her second year on the USA TODAY Top 25 Coaches’ Poll committee and served as a NCAA Midwest Regional Advisory Committee member from 2012-2014. Williams is a 2014 graduate of the Center for Coaching Excellence, an invitation-only leadership program hosted by the WBCA and Columbia University. Williams also attended Selections 101, the 2014 Mock Selection Exercise at the NCAA Headquarters in Indianapolis.

Brenita Jackson ASSISTANT COACH- 1st Season

Former San Jacinto head coach Brenita Jackson was named McNeese assistant coach on June 1, 2015. Brenita will oversee post play, zone defense, social media, Cowgirl yoga and the Cowgirl Mentor Program. She will assist with recruiting, scheduling, scouting, marketing, parent relations, campus relations, motivational videos and handouts along with many other duties. Brenita and husband Kevin are co-founders and co-owners of KBJ Academy. The couple was featured in the Houston Chronicle in January as a

‘Couple a winning team on and off San Jac court.” The Jacksons have had successful stints at Lon Morris College, Cisco College and most recently at San Jacinto College. They are coming off a 23-9 season and a trip to the Region XIV tournament semi-finals for the first conference tournament win in over thirty years for the program with the Lady Gators. Brenita is a former Southland Conference standout (Southeastern Louisiana) and professional player, was named Region XIV Coach of the Year for her coaching efforts during the 2014-15 season. She is known for revitalizing and creating winning cultures. She is a relentless and proven recruiter, player and community developer and practice and game coach who is driven to help student-athletes excel on and off the court. “We are extremely humbled by the opportunity to work for such a hard working, smart and genuine woman,” Jackson said. “Everyone on her staff has an infectious passion for winning and mentoring young women. I look forward to building on the tradition already started at McNeese.” In 2015, she was named Coach of the Year and also coached the conference freshman of the year, an all-conference honorable mention selection and an all-region selection. The team was nationally ranked in the top 25 for the first time in school history seeing a ranking as high as ninth in the nation. She also recruited the first two players to represent San Jac to be selected to play in the NJCAA All Star Game. Prior to San Jacinto College, Brenita had a brief stint at Cisco College. While at Cisco, Jackson had 100 percent graduation rate, boasted a much-improved 3.1 team GPA during the fall semester, had an all-conference selection and was selected to coach the winning West team for the Mineral Wells All Star Classic. As head coach at Lon Morris College, she guided the Bearcats to the Region XIV semifinals in 2012. Jackson coached four all-conference selections, including the Region XIV freshman of the year, and a Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) all-American. Her 2011-2012 squad had two National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) academic all-Americans. During her stint at Lon Morris, Jackson coached former Cowgirl forward Arianna James. In 2011, the Jacksonville Progress named Jackson their Sports Woman of the Year. That same season, the Bearcats were the Region XIV championship runner-ups. Three players earned all-conference honors, one being named an NJCAA all-American. Her 2011 squad had a NJCAA academic all-American, and was ranked fifth in the

nation by the WBCA for a team GPA of 3.2. Under Brenita’s watch, the Lon Morris women’s basketball program boasted a 100 percent sophomore graduation rate. She holds the Lon Morris record for the best winning percentage after winning 37 games in two seasons. Jackson began the school’s first mentor program and fundraising campaigns for her program and also implemented the program’s first successful summer basketball camp. Brenita spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Lon Morris prior to being named head coach. As an assistant, she helped the team advance to two consecutive regional tournaments, and had six all-conference selections. Eight of her players went on to play at the next level, including three to National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I schools. Jackson has also coached the Dallas Diesel junior summer basketball team and the Aabyhoj Junior Club team. Brenita prepped at Cedar Hill High School (Cedar Hill, TX) where she was a starter on a squad that reached the Texas regional semifinals. She was recruited to play at Lon Morris, where she led her team to the Region XIV conference championship game and the best single-season record in Lon Morris College history which was later broken her first year as the head coach of the program. She was named to the all-conference and all-academic teams, and was the first women’s basketball player at Lon Morris to sign a NCAA Division I scholarship. While at Southeastern Louisiana, Brenita helped the team reach the Southland Conference Tournament in each of her two years, and led the squad to become the East Division Conference champions in 2007 for the first time in school history. She earned all-conference, all-Louisiana, all-academic honors while with the Lady Lions. She went on to play professionally in Aarhus, Denmark, where she also coached a junior club team to an undefeated season and three tournament championships. She then returned to Dallas in 2008 to coach the Dallas Diesel Junior Club. Brenita holds a Bachelors of Business Administration degree from Southeastern Louisiana University and a Masters in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University (Irvine, Calif.). She is currently a member of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. She has served on the WBCA Carol Eckman Committee, WBCA Convention Focus Group and was a speaker at the 2015 WBCA Final Four roundtables on player development. “Brenita’s experiences are incredible,” said Williams. “She brings so much passion, knowledge and innovation. The culture she and Kevin created at each of their coaching stops was truly special. She has called the shots on the sidelines for six years and has had great success. She has a special poise about her as well as an understanding of the attention to detail it takes be successful. She has been a standout in our league as a player. I think most importantly, I’ve witnessed the way she cares for her student-athletes and treats them as a priority. She has the same vision we do for guiding players to become strong, successful young ladies. Our girls and coaching staff are thrilled to welcome her to our Cowgirl family.”

Kacie Cryer, a rising star amongst assistant coaches, enters her fifth season as an assistant coach and her eighth total with the Cowgirls. Cryer, a genuine and thriving recruiter, serves as the Cowgirls’ recruiting coordinator and oversees guard and post play on the court as well as making the play calls for the Cowgirl inbound and sideline out of bounds. As the fiery guard coach, Cryer coached

first team all-conference selection, Allison Baggett, who received Southland Conference Student-Athlete of the Year honors in 2014. Baggett, the Cowgirls’ returning leading scorer, has been named to the all- conference and all-Louisiana teams the last season. Cryer also coached Jayln Johnson who was named to the 2014-15 all-conference second team. While overseeing post play during the 2012-2013 season, Cryer coached Cecilia Okoye, the 2013 Southland Conference “Newcomer of the Year”. Okoye is currently playing professionally for Widzew Lodz in Poland. She is only the third Cowgirl to sign a pro contract and play in the professional ranks. An integral part of the major McNeese overhaul the past eight years, Cryer has helped guide the Cowgirls to four of their five consecutive post-season appearances. The Cowgirls made their third consecutive appearance in the Women’s Basketball Invitational (WBI) during the 2014-15 season. During the 2012-13 season, Cryer helped guide the Cowgirls to McNeese’s first postseason win and an exciting and historical run all the way to the WBI Championship game in Detroit. During the 2011-12 season, Cryer helped guide the Cowgirls to their second consecutive Southland Conference Tournament Championship and second NCAA Tournament appearance. Under Cryer’s recruiting leadership, the Cowgirls have signed seven state tournament MVP’s (Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas) and fifteen all-state high school players in just four short years as recruiting coordinator. “Kacie has done a tremendous job in recruiting. She’s very simple and down to earth in her style, which kids respect. Recruits can see her passion and in turn, they want to be a part of it. Kacie also believes in our vision for recruiting character and hard working young ladies and helps us find

She will serve as the liaison for women’s basketball and will work closely with the athletic academic office. Cryer will head up team bonding activities, and will serve as the liaison with the compliance office, on campus housing and dining services. Other duties for Cryer will be assisting with scouting, film prep, marketing and fundraising, summer camps and many other duties. Cryer served as a Cowgirl graduate assistant from 2008-2010 before taking a university recruiting job at Northwestern State in 2010. As a graduate assistant, Cryer worked with all aspect of the program. “It has been fun to watch Kacie’s growth as a coach and a young professional. She grew up in a coaching family so she understands this is a family. She understands how we want to mold young ladies for life. She understands that coaching is not a job- it is a lifestyle. I’m very appreciative of her loyalty and happy she is an integral part of Cowgirl basketball,” said Williams. Cryer spent her collegiate playing career at LSU-Shreveport from 2004-2008 and earned her degree in General Studies. She earned her Masters degree from McNeese in December of 2012. The native of Abbeville, La., Cryer prepped at Teurlings Catholic High in Lafayette. Cryer was a member of the 2002 state championship team and was a first team all-district and all-parish selection. Cryer is the daughter of Charlie and Kristie Cryer. She has two brothers, Cody, a former member of the McNeese golf team, and younger brother Chris, an assistant football and baseball coach at St. Louis Catholic High School in Lake Charles. Kacie’s father, Charlie, is the head football coach at St. Louis Catholic High School.

He will assist with recruiting, full court defensive pressure situations and fundraising as well as oversee community service projects, individual workouts, and strength training. It’s also an honor to join a great athletic department and the city of Lake Charles to continue building on a great legacy.” Kevin assisted in all operations of the program to boast the best record in over 30 years. He was in charge of the guard play, defensive coordinator for the program and the program’s liaison for academics, aiding with academic goal setting, study hall and tutoring scheduling.In the community, Jackson partnered his Lady Gator program with Harris County Community Service Department for #GatorsAdoptVets to gather household items for Veteran’s in Houston. He also organized the Lady Gator’s visits to the dialysis section of the Texas Children’s Hospital. At Cisco College, Jackson trained and developed an all-conference guard and assisted in all aspects of the program. During Kevin’s stint at Lon Morris, he coached a total of three NJCAA all-stars including two in 2012 and one in 2011. Jackson created workouts for position-focused training,

His recruiting efforts helped guide the 2012 squad to a school record 19 wins and helped earn the program’s first Region XIV freshman of the year. The 2011 squad boasted three all-conference players, a NJCAA all-American, several members of the Region XIV all-tournament team and an academic all-American. The 2011 Lon Morris team finished as Region XIV Tournament Championship Runner-Ups and set the record for longest win streak in program history. The program saw its largest attendance numbers during the two years the Jackson’s were there and even had a game ranked the number one match up in the nation. Kevin holds a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology from Southeastern Louisiana and a Masters in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University (Irvine, Calif.). Kevin was a collegiate football athlete at Southeastern Louisiana from 2003-2007. “Kevin’s energy is infectious,” Williams said. “I think he has special qualities that will immediately make us better. He is a motivator and a winner. He loves the game and certainly shows it in his work ethic and dedication to his student-athletes. Kevin is an intense, energetic practice and game coach. I’ve witnessed his energy and discipline in practice and individual workouts. He has a great knowledge of the game and the skill set players need to be successful. I have no doubt he will help our girls get to an even higher level athletically and academically. We are all thrilled to welcome Kevin to our family.”

HALL OF FAME

Tangela McAlister (1992, 1993)

Inducted 2006 Tangela is the latest of the Cowgirls to earn all-American honors, having been named to the Basketball Times squad following the 1992-93 season. She only played two years for the Cowgirls, coming from the junior college ranks, but during those two seasons she led McNeese in scoring and rebounding and wound up seventh on the school’s all-time scoring chart with 1.140 points.

Twice she was named to the all-Southland Conference and all-Louisiana teams and was a two-time team MVP. During the 1991-92 season she averaged 21.9 points per game while leading the Southland Conference and ranked nationally.

Vicky Chapman (1974, 1975)

Inducted 1985 Vicky was the first standout basketball player for the Cowgirls, competing during the first years of McNeese women’s basketball. In those first two years of 1975-76 and 1976-77, the Cowgirls only played 40 games and played as an independent. Chapman played in 39 games and scored 989 points for a 23.0 average, which is the top career average for a Cowgirl. She was a two-time most valuable player

and an all-Louisiana selection. Besides leading the team in scoring in both seasons she also led in rebounds. Her 15.8 average for the 1975-76 season continues to stand as a school record. She played three seasons of professional basketball, served as an assistant coach at McNeese and is a teacher on coach in the state system.

Pat Jean (1980-83) Inducted 1996 During a four year career with the Cowgirls, she set just about every team record. She still holds the school records for points scored (2,461) and rebounds (1,571). She also ranks second in the state of Louisiana in career rebounds and is seventh in points scored. Jean was a four-time all-Louisiana selection and an all-Southland Conference pick for the only year that she played in the conference. In 1983, she also led the conference in rebounding with a 13.7

mark. She continues to hold 14 McNeese State records.

Ann Roubique (1979-82) Inducted 2001 She was a two sport standout in basketball and softball and a four year letter winner in both. She also spent six years as an assistant women’s basketball coach and three years as tennis coach. In basketball, she was a point guard and at one time held the school record for career assists with 260. Twice she led the team in free throw shooting accuracy and concluded her career with 797 points and a 2.0 assists average. In softball, she was the team MVP in 1979 with a

.439 batting average and seven home runs. She was also a three time all-Louisiana. After her coaching career at McNeese, she took over the head coaching position at Cy-Fair High School in Texas where she has developed one of the top girls programs in the state.

The McNeese State Hall of Fame was founded in 1980 by former sports information director Louis Bonnette. The Hall recognizes those who have distinguished themselves in athletics at the University. Membership in the Hall now numbers over 100. Bonnette serves

as the chairman of the Hall of Fame committee which includes Matthew Bonnette, Bruce Hemphill, Keri Ange, Theron McClendon, Johnny Suydam, Ron Hayes, Pam LaFosse, Dr. Daryl Burckel and Bob Fuhrer. The Hall of Fame is located in the Jack Doland Fieldhouse.

Margie Hinton Radleman (Coach)

Inducted 2015 Margie Hinton Randleman was instrumental in getting the Cowgirl basketball program on the map. During her five seasons at the helm (1978-82), her teams won a total of 94 games and posted two 20-win seasons. Her best year came in 1981 that saw her squad finish the year 23-5 behind the play of McNeese Hall of Famer Pat Jean. She averaged 19 wins a season as basketball coach (94-58) and coached

two of the top four teams with the most wins in a season (23 in 1981 and 22 in 1980). She was also the head volleyball coach for the Cowgirls in 1975 and 1976.

Dr. Philip C. WilliamsUniversity President

Dr. Williams earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of North Carolina, graduating with honors in history. He earned his law degree at the Columbia University School of Law in New York City. During the course of his legal profession, he practiced corporate law and served as administrative vice president and counsel for Sea World, Inc. During the 1980’s he and his wife Sandra were active writers, publishing a series of children’s mysteries,

adult mysteries, and non-fiction works. In 1994, Dr. Williams returned to Chapel Hill to earn his M.P.H. and Ph.D. degrees in Health Policy and Administration. He served for one year as a post-doctoral research fellow at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, then accepted a faculty position at Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina, where he taught health law and management courses in the College of Business and was appointed to serve as Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs. He joined the staff of Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina in 2003 as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College, and in 2006 he became President of the University of Montevallo in Alabama. In the spring of 2010 he was selected to serve as the 6th President of McNeese State University. Since his arrival at McNeese, he has presided over the development of a new strategic plan, which features the promotion of innovative teaching and learning, regional partnerships, service-learning opportunities, applied research, cultural engagement, and athletic excellence. He has frequently stated his desire for McNeese to play an active role in the civic and economic renaissance likely to transform Southwest Louisiana over the next five years.

Bruce HempHillAthletic Director

Bruce Hemphill is in his third year as athletic director for McNeese after the former associate AD at the University of Wyoming and assistant to the AD at the University of North Carolina became the ninth athletics director in school history in August of 2013. “Bruce understands the role athletics plays in the larger university environment and he understands the

difficulty we face with the athletic budget and the importance of increasing revenue through private sources and auxiliary means,” said McNeese President Dr. Philip Williams. The first two years under Hemphill was an eventful one as McNeese’s athletic programs excelled both on the playing field and in the classroom. Academically, McNeese set a school record in the 2013-14 sport season by having five players named as the Southland Conference Student-Athlete of the Year for their respective sports. The program also led all conference schools in the 2014 spring semester with 21 student-athletes compiling a perfect 4.0 grade point average. And Cowgirl softball player Alana DiVittorio became just the second player in the sport to earn Capital One Academic All-America honors. McNeese received the Southland Conference Academic Progress Award for the 2014-15 for posting the highest APR score in the league. McNeese football was the only team recognized from the Southland Conference as the recipient of the Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) APR Award. Athletically, McNeese finished fourth out of 13 teams in the Commisioner’s Cup Standings - the highest placing since finishing fourth in the 2002-03 season. It’s also the sixth straight year McNeese has been the highest finishing school among Louisiana SLC league teams. Ten of the school’s 16 sports programs finished fifth or higher in their respective sport standings. In the 2013-14 sports season, McNeese finished fifth out of the 14 SLC schools for the 2013-14 SLC Commissioner’s Cup standings. The Cowgirl softball team won a school record 40 games en route to its second consecutive league championship and the Cowboy football team won 10 games and qualified for its league-record 15th FCS playoff appearance. In addition, the men’s and women’s basketball teams as well as volleyball, tennis, baseball and softball, all qualified for the league postseason tournament. During his two years as Director of Athletics, Hemphill worked with the McNeese administration to gain the support of legislation, boosters and private donors for the new $44 million Health and Human Performance Complex that will also become the home for McNeese men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball teams. The Sulphur, La., native has 26 years administrative experience at the collegiate and high school levels. He supervised 10 of 17 programs offered at a major Division 1 university and was responsible for budget oversight, game operations, facilities, personnel, compliance, team travel and recruiting. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Louisiana State University where he was a three-year letterman in football and won All-Academic Southeast Conference honors at wide receiver. His professional experience began at LSU where he was a graduate assistant and assistant football coach. In 1984, after serving as the supervisor for health and physical education for the Louisiana Department of Education, he returned to collegiate athletics and served for two years as an assistant football coach at Louisiana Tech University. In 1987 he became the recruiting coordinator at North Carolina State University. From 1989-1990 he served as the assistant recruiting coordinator at the University of South Carolina. He joined the athletics department staff at the University of North Carolina in 1990 and served eight years as assistant to the athletics director and director of recruiting. From 1999-2003 he was associate athletics director at the University of Wyoming. In 2003 he returned to North Carolina and accepted a position as athletics director at a 4A high school, the largest classification in the state. Hemphill has two sons - James, 20, a junior basketball player at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, and Jack, 16, a junior in high school; and a daughter, Hayden, 19, a freshman at SMU and is a member of the school’s Crew (rowing) team.

McNeese iN the classrooM McNeese women’s basketball has had several players named to the McNeese honor roll and Dean’s list under the direction of head coach Brooks Donald Williams. A member of the women’s basketball team has been named the Southland Conference Student-Athlete of the year four timesalong with several SLC All-Academic selections. Ashlyn Baggett was named the SLC Student-Athlete of the Year three times in her four year career and younger sister, Allison was the Student-Athlete of the Year in 2014. The other Baggett sister, Caitlyn was named to the Capital One Academic All-District team in 2013. Under Williams, Cowgirl basketball has a 100% graduation rate for players that have exhausted their eligibility.

The McNeese athletic academic center, located in the Jack Doland Fieldhouse, is a state of the art facility that furnishes 18 Maci ntosh desktop computers as well as ample space for athletes to do their class work and studies.

Sports Medicine Center is an ultra-modern facility and one of the finest in the South. It is named after longtime McNeese athletic trainer Dowell Fontenot (pictured left) who was also a national champion boxer during his undergraduate days at the university and who is a member of the McNeese Hall of Fame.

The center is located just south of the McNeese athletic fieldhouse. Funds for the 6,200 square foot medical center were obtained from the state, from private donations and from the McNeese PetroChem Athletic Association.

The Charles Kuehn Weight Room at the Jack Doland Field House was out-fitted by Life Fitness Company and Hammer Strength Company who made the 8,000 square foot room a showcase weight facility.

Weights are painted in platinum and blue and there are 16 Mondo enlayed platforms for heavy weight work, one

of only eight schools in the nation to have this. The weight room also includes: 16 multi-purpose racks, 80,000 pounds of weights (McNeese logo on the weights), nine 52-inch flat screen television sets, mirrors all the way around, two treadmills, two elliptical machines, a stationary bike and a $12,000 surround sound system donated by Scott Bailey and Bailey Audio. A 12-foot McNeese logo sets off the room from the cen-ter floor. The facility is named in honor of McNeese State’s first football all-American who is pictured above.

The Burton Memorial Coliseum Complex is under the operation of the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury and has four full-service buildings that has been undergoing renovations since the 2012-13 season. The Coliseum was constructed in 1976 with tax money voted on by the residents of Calcasieu Parish on land donated by the late W.T. Burton. The Coliseum itself is a domed arena with permanent seating for 6,500 and temporary seating for another 2,000. The roof of the dome is 105 feet high, with over 24,000 square feet of concrete floor space and the building is air conditioned and heated. The H.G. Chalkley Room, a banquet-style room in the coliseum, can seat 200 people comfortably and is available for any number of activities. Another part of the Burton Complex is the 160,000 square feet of floor space in the Livestock and Exhibit Building. A massive roof covers four acres of excellent facilities for beef, swine, sheep and horses, as well as a judging area, additional pens and show office.

Each livestock area has its own grooming area, complete with water and electrical service. The fourth part of the complex is the Burton Agricultural Arena, a 50,000 square foot, covered arena with seating for 1,000 people. The facility is excellent for equestrian and rodeo events with sound and lighting, restrooms and a concession area. The four parts of the complex can be utilized together or separately and work well together. The entire Complex is situated on 65 acres and has parking for 3,500 vehicles. An added convenience is the recreational vehicle hookups available for 275 units. All hookups have electricity, water and sewerage. The Coliseum is located approximately three miles South of the McNeese State University campus.

Shante’ Perry was a two-time All-SLC pick during her four year career at McNeese. Perry scored her 1,000th point against UT-Arlington on Feb. 11, 2009 and ended her career as the school’s ninth all-time leading scorer. In her senior season, she led the Cowgirls in scoring and ranked second in the Southland Conference with 15.7 ppg. She ranked second in the SLC with 2.3 three-pointers made per game, third with an 82.6 free throw percent. Perry ranked among the nations best in points per game, three-point percent, field goal percent, three-point field goal percent and three-point field goals per game. She scored in double figures in 24 games and set a McNeese and tied a SLC record with nine three-pointers made in the Cowgirls’ 71-66 victory over Louisiana Tech (Jan. 3, 2009). In that game, she also tied a McNeese single game record for points scored with 39.

Sonny Watkins and Bridget Martin served as co-head coaches for four years (1990-94). During that time they were one of a few co-head coaches in the nation. The duo guided McNeese to three Southland Conference Tournaments and produced two All-Southland Conference players in Robin Daniels and Tangela McAlister. Both players garnered individual honors as well. Daniels was named the league’s “Freshman of the Year” in 1992 while McAlister was named the SLC “Newcomer of the Year” that same year. In 1993, McAlister was named to the Basketball Times All-America Team, only the fourth and last McNeese player to become an All-American. Watkins later served as the Universities Athletic Director from 1995-2007 while Martin went on to serve as head coach for seven more years before being named McNeese’s Associate AD for Compliance and Senior Woman Administrator in 2002, titles she still holds to date.

Brooks Donald Williams Brooks Donald-Williams became McNeese’s all-time winningest coach with her 132nd career win during the 2014-15 season. Williams has been at the helm of the Cowgirl program for the past eight years, being named head coach in 2007. Williams became the all-time winningest coach on Jan. 17, 2015 with a 79-74 win at Sam Houston State. Since named head coach, Williams has compiled a 141-117 overall record and led the Cowgirls five consecutive postseaosn appearances including two NCAA Tournaments (2011, 2012) and three WBI appearances (2013-15), advancing to the championship game in 2013.
