I am happy to announce that Austin Redington from our parish has been selected to receive

the 8th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Model of Justice Award on behalf of St. Joseph Parish. The Celebration and Awards Presentation will be held on Sunday, Jan., 18, 2015. Mass will begin at 2:30pm at the Cathedral Basilica. An award will be presented to Austin by Archbishop Robert J. Carlson in Boland Hall after the Mass to commemorate the birth and leg-acy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. A reception will follow the Awards Presentation. Austin is receiving this award because of his work with Deacon David Billing and his wife Chris. He has participated two years in a row with their trip to Guatemala. He has worked as a translator for the poor when they come to the clinic for needed attention. This award is given to Austin be-cause of the service he demonstrates in the area of social justice on a global level. Congratulations Austin! Also, congratulations to parishioner Dorthy McMillen from our second grade class who was part of the cast in the St. Dominic High School Play Christmas Carol being held this weekend. “Break a leg,” Dorthy! Perry & Theresa Citrowske are moving on from their role as our parish Pro-Life Coordinators. I want to thank them for their service to our parish in this area for the past several years. So, we are in need of new Pro-Life Coordinators for our parish. Perry or Theresa would be happy to fill you in on the job description. Email or call me if you are interested. If no one volunteers, then I’ll start calling people who I think would be good Pro-Life Coordinators. Think about it and get in touch with me. Alyssa Entwistle has been our Parish Youth Minister the last six months. She will be graduating from Lindenwood University at the end of this semester and has accepted a full-time position at Lindenwood starting in January. Once again we are looking for a Youth Minister. A St. Joseph parent, a young adult, or a young married couple would all be great can-didates for this position. If you are interested in ministering in this way, please contact me. Let us pray for each other this week.
