Secure Collaborative BIM in the Cloud

© Asite Solutions 2001-2014

Asite was launched in June 2001 with a mission to deliver collaborative solutions and implement the recommendations of the 1998 Egan Report in UK industry. cBIM was launched in November 2005 at the BuildingSMART International conference in Washington D.C.

Adoddle by Asite provides online information management services to the world's most demanding businesses and government organisations to help their teams work together more efficiently and effectively.

Online collaboration allows organisations to share and manage information in one secure central location that helps to grow any business by applying common data environment (CDE) principles.

What is a Common Data Environment (CDE)?

A single source of information for any given project, used to collect, manage and disseminate all relevant approved project documents for multi-disciplinary teams.

A term defined in BS1192 and an integral enabler for implementing the UK Government’s Building Information Modelling and Asset Information Modelling agenda for 2016.

Information Volumes

Projects today are generating information into the Terabytes

According to a Fiatech Industry Survey (2012) 62% of industry participants think that disparate data volumes impact their efficiency in managing projects

They saw their greatest challenges as:o Finding the right information when it is needed – 40%

o Collecting the information needed from multiple parties – 38%

o Managing the distribution of information to other parties – 18%

Their Answer?o Multiparty Collaboration

• Publically Available Specification for Information Management for the capital/delivery phase of construction projects using Building Information Modelling.

• Support the UK objective to achieve BIM maturity Level 2 and support the move to Level 3.

• Builds on the existing code of practice for the collaborative production of architectural, engineering and construction information, defined within BS 1192:2007

• Shared use of individually authored models in a Common Data Environment (CDE).

• A single source of information for any given project.

Adoddle cBIM – Some Examples

UK Environment Agency adopts Asite Platform as CDE for Collaborative BIM

Asite's Adoddle platform enables the Environment Agency's internal and external project team members to work together more effectively by:

• Storing and controlling all project documents.• Helping users through key project processes such as business

case submission.• Automating key contract administration tasks such as fee note

processing.• Replacing the Extranet as an electronic store for templates and

guidance.• Making it easier to share best practice and examples.• The ability to report across the breadth of the service.

Thames Water awards Tideway Tunnel CDE contract to Asite

The contract covers the provision of a CDE Common Data Environment (CDE) which Thames Tideway Tunnel is required to provide in compliance with PAS1192 guidelines, notably for the exchange, coordination, compliance and storage of data.

The CDE will be used to exchange a variety of data entities (including drawings, BIM models, setting-out data, correspondence (including NEC3 communications), reports, financial cost data, risk register data, images, and programmes) initially between the Project Managers and Contractors.

Wembley Regeneration Project

Quintain implemented Adoddle cBIM to support collaborative building information modelling (BIM) on its major regeneration project underway at Wembley. The Wembley site comprises the 85 acres surrounding the national football stadium located in North West London and is one of the UK’s leading mixed-use regeneration schemes. The Masterplan for the regeneration encompasses the entire site, in a series of phases, for which Quintain has secured planning permission for 8.7m sq ft of accommodation consisting of more than 5,500 new homes as well as 3.5m sq ft of commercial, leisure and supporting uses.

Asite is delivering real-time visibility of their 3D designs connected to their commercial project data for the project team.
