SHOW CAUSE NOTICE

Whereas the Election Commission of India has announced the schedule forholding the General Elections to the Delhi Legislative Assembly to be held on 7th

February, 2015 vide their Press Note No. ECI/PN/3/2015 dated 12th January, 2015;

Whereas, Election Commission of India vide its letter No. 491/PaidNews/20121Media dated 2ih August, 2012 has circulated revised guidelines tocheck "Paid News" during Election.

Whereas, it has been brought to the notice of undersigned by MCMC, NewDelhi District that the following press clippings are suspected to be Paid News:-

Whereas, it prima facie appears that the news items appearing in the abovementioned Newspapers give an indication of it being a 'paid news' for promotingSmt. Sharmistha Mukherjee, a candidate from Indian National Congress party.

Now, therefore, the undersigned Returning Officer, Assembly ConstituencyNo. 50 "Greater Kailash", calls upon you to explain within 48 hours of service of thisnotice as to why the said news items should not be treated as "Paid News" andexpenses amounting to Rs.3033/- & Rs. 16354.1- respectively booked as perspecified rates of DAVP in your election expenses.

If no reply is received within the prescribed time limit, it will be deemed thatyou have nothing to say on the issue and the rates as prescribed by the DAVP forsuch promotion, as mentioned above will be considered as expenditure incurred byyou for a election campaign. . (\
