Welcome to Sun Peaks!Comfortably nestled between the Coastal and Rocky Mountain ranges and protected from wet coastal weather and cold northern temperatures, is our B.C. Interior mountain resort municipality of Sun Peaks. A four season community known internationally for three mountains of expansive ski terrain (now the second largest ski area in Canada), dry, light snow and a picturesque ski-through village, Sun Peaks is also growing as a spring, summer and fall destination, hosting guests from near and far.
Passionate outdoor enthusiasts, dedicated restaurateurs, shop owners and artisans are the foundation of our alpine community. All you need to do is share a chairlift ride with a local or enjoy a coffee in one of their cafés and you’ll quickly learn firsthand why they have chosen to call Sun Peaks home. A welcoming sense of community embraces guests, seasonal staff and residents alike.
The resort development was designed for convenience and ease, with nearly all accommodation flowing together through a system of intermountain trails. Lining the ski-through
pedestrian village centre are lodges and hotels that provide the most direct access to Sunburst and Sundance chairlifts and a myriad of soft adventure activities through summer. Beyond the village are condos, townhomes, chalets, bed and breakfasts, and an international hostel. With over 7,000 beds, there’s a wide variety of accommodation options for every taste and budget.
With the addition of two new alpine ski zones for the 2014–15 winter season, Sun Peaks now ranks as the second largest ski area in Canada. Most recently declared the #2 Ski Destination in Canada by Canadian Living Magazine’s Reader Poll (2013) and Best Overall Resort #2 by the Editors’ Choice Awards in the SBC Resort Guide (2013, 2014), Sun Peaks is continually rated one of the top ski experiences in North America. It’s Canada’s first mountain resort municipality and there are development plans for future growth. In conjunction with ECOSign, the resort’s development partner, Sun Peaks Resort plans to see four mountains, a second village area, a recreation centre, and additional chairlifts.
