Description for IT4993

A student works in an IT centre of a government or private sector on a technical task (not administrative)

A student has to spend at least 8 weeks in an approved training location full-time

A student is NOT allowed to register in any other summer course while she is doing her training

A student conducts her practical training during the last summer prior to her graduation

A student is required to complete 90 credit hours to register for the practical training

In addition the following courses should be taken by the student:

Database Principles (IT 222), Networks -1(IT 224), Web Applications (IT 311), Computer Programming-2- (CSC113), Data Structures (IT 212) and Software Engineering-1(IT 322)

A student can either : Identify the training location on her own Compete for the training locations provided by the IT

department

Position Allocation Requirements5

Training position brought by student A student cannot bring a training position from the same

place as the ones offered by the IT department

IT positions offered by the IT department depending on: GPA of student IELTS(5.5) or equivalent English qualifications (if exists) Training experiences on IT (if exists)

Criteria to select a company The following are requirements from a company where

training will be done :

The department must work on information technology applications and/or systems, such as software/hardware design/development/testing.

to be selected as the training place Your supervisor has a background in computing You should be able to work in a multi-disciplinary team The company/institution should use current tools and

techniques The company/institution should work on projects that have

local or global impact

• Visit Training Unit to Know about positions offered by our department (important)

• From blog , get more information about training: Practical Training Program –(Arabic English )& Summary Training Specifications –(Arabic English )

• Find a company according to the mentioned criteria and take its acceptance (orally )

• From blog , print and fill Practical Training Plan and take Official Request Letter for company/institution from Training Unit /Committee Secretary and Sign Practical Training Regulation

• It is highly recommended to attached your CV , Transcript and other qualifications with forms submitted to company

• Bring back forms for evaluation and approval to Training Unit /Committee Secretary

• For announced places ,apply to Training Unit with : Practical Training Request ,Transcript, TOEFL / IELTS exam results and CV in English

• If your application is accepted – DONE => Sign the Practical Training Regulations

• Otherwise, the student has to reapply for YOUR-LIST

First Batch (Your-List ): Student has three trials to search for a place starting

from 24th February ,2014 until 8th May , 2014 Second Batch (Announced Places KSU-List):

The first day to apply is 9th March , 2014 February for 3 days only

Committee meets & make decision Results will be announced on 13th March,2014 If student’s application does not accepted then she can

apply to the first batch
