Welcome! We are glad you’re here! We invite you to

seek out the folks wearing the “Ask Me” badge.

Through them you will find information about the

ministries of Salem Heights Church and how to

become involved. Please fill out a Visitor Card and drop

it in one of the offering boxes as you leave or scan this code to go

directly to our website and fill out a visitor card. We have an excellent

nursery and programs for children newborn through high school. Any

of the ushers will be happy to direct you to the proper classroom. If

you feel more comfortable having your infant with you during the

service, the last row in the Auditorium will be reserved for parents with

small children. There is a private room for nursing mothers across the

hall from the Auditorium with a rocking chair, changing table and

portable crib. For your convenience, it also includes a monitor to

enable you to still hear and view the service.

Our Purpose...

To reach people with the love of Jesus Christ, provide a safe and

supportive environment, proclaim the standards of God’s truth,

duplicate the Christian life in others, and celebrate the majesty

and works of Our Great God.

Pastor Justin Greene

“Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, ‘The LORD, the God of heaven, has given me all

the kingdoms of the earth, and He has appointed me to build Him a house in

Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whoever there is among you of all His people, may

the LORD his God be with him, and let him go up!’” 2 Chronicles 36:23

This past Spring/Summer SHC had seven teams

participating in church league softball; four coed teams and

three men's teams. That comes out to about 90 people or

more participating. Our teams also had some success as we

had three co-ed teams win their leagues (BLACK, BROWN and YELLOW),

and one men's team won their league (BLUE). In the season ending

tournaments, the BLACK team got first place in the coed division and the

YELLOW team got second. The BROWN team finished in third place in

their division. In men's, the RED team finished in third place.

Many thanks to the players and coaches/managers that made this season a

success by glorifying God.

Giving Update

THE MINISTRY OF SALEM HEIGHTS CHURCH The ministry of Salem Heights Church is funded entirely by the generous giving of God’s people. You will notice that we do not pass the offering plate; however, there are offering boxes in the back of the auditorium. We have done this so no one gives out of compulsion. We believe from the Word of God that the Spirit of God will lead people towards giving back to God of their first fruits. “...God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Cor. 9:7) and we know He blesses those who take His Word seriously in every regard. Thank you for prayerfully supporting Salem Heights financially as we desire to reach the lost and disciple the Saints.

The Divine Tapestry PART 128

“The Final Chapter”

2 Chronicles 36:14-23

Presented by

Pastor Justin Greene September 28, 2014

We began this series with a picture that illustrated three things...

Page 8: 20140928 Web Bulletin

2

These small pictures were placed together with a purpose that you might see the big picture. (If you only focused on the small picture you would miss the point.)

These small pictures were chosen to give

perspective .

They tell us why the big picture matters. (If you didn’t see the small pictures you would miss the point.)

These pictures reveal a person . (If you didn’t see the

big picture you would miss the point.)

Proper perspective is important ... God’s perspective is paramount!

THE FINAL CHAPTER

Three Assumptions

• The Old Testament progressively reveals truth from and about God, including pictures and promises of a coming Messiah.

• There was a Messianic anticipation at the time of the birth of Jesus .

• Jesus used an arrangement of the Scriptures called the Tanakh to defend and highlight His fulfillment of the Messianic Hope (Luke 24). This arrangement ends with 2 Chronicles.

Page 10: 20140928 Web Bulletin

LET HIM GO UP... 2 Chronicles 36 ends with three conclusions: (tied to Leviticus 26 and Deuteronomy 30)

1. God’s Servants were Abused.

God sent His servants to remind the people of His covenant and commands .

To attack them was to reject the Word .

2. The Sabbath was not Appreciated .

The Sabbath was a time set aside to rest in, and reflect on, the protection and provision of the Lord .

Page 11: 20140928 Web Bulletin

5

3. The Savior was Anticipated.

2 Chronicles 26:23 is more than a partial quote from Ezra...

It would cause them to look backward (Leviticus 26).

It would cause them to look forward (Matthew 1).

It would cause them to look upward (2 Samuel 7).

Page 12: 20140928 Web Bulletin

6

NEW TESTAMENT REFLECTIONS

• What did Jesus say the Father would do after His servants were beaten and rejected? He would send the Son (Matthew 21:37-39).

• How many times should we forgive?

 70 x 7 (490 – the number of years of rejection)

Maximum forgiveness to those who continually reject!

• Christ seems to use this passage as a Messianic outline (Matthew 23:37-39)?
