!"#$%&"The 2014 Trabuco Hills High School Lacrosse Media Guide
is a joint production of the Girls and Boys programs.
When a player joins Trabuco Hills Girls Lacrosse, what I see most importantly is that she has committed fi rst and foremost to a team.
As such, this commitment is done with everyone doing their part and pulling their weight. That is on the fi eld -- and off. It is during games, during warm-ups, during practices -- and all other team activities.
Sports is too frequently used as a metaphor for life, but any group is only as good as its weakest link. Our Mustang commitment means coming to practices to improve your skills and to also help improve the team as a whole. It’s not fair to ask everyone else to meet this commitment if any single player fails to meet this standard.
We can do big things this season if we’re all in -- and that takes teamwork by every member of Trabuco Hills Girls Lacrosse!
-- Girls Coach Scott Leong
As I begin my fi rst season as head coach at Trabuco Hills High School, I make it a point to remind every player, that as a student athlete, you are an ambassador of the sport of lacrosse, your school, your team, your family, and yourself.
As much as some of us like to think that lacrosse is the most important gift God has given us, it is also important to understand life!s priorities. You can!t walk through life just playing lacrosse. You can!t walk through life just being an athlete. Athletics will fade, but character and integrity will truly make an impact on people!s lives forever. Guiding my players to understand that is my ultimate vision as head coach.
-- Boys Coach Johnny Rodriguez

Trabuco Hills Lacrosse is proud to have 12 seniors playing their fi nal season with us this spring: Here are the favorite lacrosse memories of our 2014 class.
Winning the O.C. Classic against Los Alamitos my junior year. We were going up against a very dominant team and expecting to lose, 15-0. But we ended up winning in a shutout, 4-0!"

My favorite memory of Trabuco lacrosse was in my sophomore year when we won the OC/LA Shootout in the pouring rain. It was cold, wet but so much fun!

One practice over the summer some girls brought water balloons and we spent the practice using our lacrosse sticks to launch them at each other. It defi nitely made the 100 degree weather a lot more bearable.

$J5%/#,$M"#&$We asked our team elders for parting wisdom on how underclassmen
should be thinking to take Trabuco Hills Lacrosse to the next level:
ADAM SANDOVAL: Focus on playing your position to best of your ability, don’t worry about anything else. Obey your coaches, they’re there to make you better.
IRENE PETRUZZI: Don’t be afraid of the ball or be afraid to take a shot! Just give it your all!
JACQUELINE HUSE: Don’t use this as a way to get P.E. credit. Never post #scoredthewinninggoal. Don’t pretend to be injured. Try your best to be nice to all your teammates, even if they annoy you.
GABRIEL GUTIERREZ: Spread Good Vibes!
BRITTANY TRAN: Always show up to practice, because there’s always something that you can improve upon. Lastly, believe in yourself and the team.
MELANIE LEONG: It’s all about attitude. You got to want it. If you want something, you’ll fi nd a way to make it happen. You just got to be in the zone and play your game to the best of your ability.
CYRENA MALKOWSI: If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball. If you can dodge traffi c, you can dodge a ball. But if you want to be a goalie, you must embrace the ball.
CAROLINE RABOURN: Nothing is impossible! Even the word says ‘I’m Possible!
JOEY CLARK: Practice outside of practice. And be sure not to piss off the coaches, it’s a terrible situation for everyone.
SHELBY SIANO: Don’t trip over your own feet (especially your senior year); stay healthy; and practice hard!
CHEYENNE OCHOA: Don’t take it too seriously, have fun with lacrosse. And the more practices you go to, and the more effort you put into the game, the better you will become -- and it will be that much more enjoyable.
KOLTON OSBORN: Stay humble and remember the bitter taste of defeat!

Saddleback Valley Unifi ed School District:
“Athletes are observed in many areas of school and community life. An athlete must always remember that they no longer represent just themselves, but represents their team and school.
Therefore, it is important that an athlete’s attitude and behavior, both at school and in the community, be above reproach so that it will bring credit and honor to their team and school.”
