Our summer program this year has been

amazing. Students have enjoyed weekly fieldtrips

to Sulphur Creek Nature Center, Kennedy Park,

the Alameda County Fair, Great Mall, and many

movies. We have also continued our recycling

duties, and worked in the garden. We already

have tomato sauce in the freezer for the fall. In

addition, this newsletter is a collaborative effort

of our students. They took pictures, interviewed

students, wrote stories and designed the layout.

A special thanks to our staff, Eric Debus, Jan

Bauchou, Lorraine Leen, Lori Rauscher, Yina Wu

and Filemon Macapagal, for keeping things

running smoothly. We are very fortunate to have

such a dedicated group. Our students are

fabulous too! Together, we have enjoyed a fun-

filled 5 weeks! See you in the Fall!

Gardening

Our garden continues to flourish. We are growing

tomatoes, strawberries, beans, squash, corn and

much more. Most of what is grown we enjoy for

lunch. The students work hard at maintaining

the garden but without the dedication and

knowledge of Vince we would be lost. We

continue to need help keeping up with weeds,

planting new plants, and watering. If you are

interested in volunteering, please contact

Michele or Roshni.
