Skip is the President of the Technology Association of Oregon, one of the nation’s fastest-growing trade associations dedicated solely to supporting Oregon’s technology industries. Previously, Skip served as an economic development policy advisor to Portland Mayor Sam Adams, where he helped create Portland’s first comprehensive economic development strategy in 16 years, recognizing software as a key industry cluster. While at the City of Portland, Skip’s projects included the adoption of the nation’s first open source software procurement policy at the municipal level and the development of resources to support entrepreneurship, like the Portland Seed Fund.
While at the City of Portland, Skip co-created CivicApps for Greater Portland, the nation’s first regional open data and open source software application design contest, for which he received the Oregon Society of Professional Journalists’ 2011 First Freedom Award. He is a frequent speaker on the topics of public-private partnerships, economic development and the tech industry and open government. Skip serves on the Executive Board of TECNA, Technology Councils of North America, which is North America’s largest technology association, as well as Worksystems Inc.’s Workforce Investment Board, the Board of Directors of the TAO Foundation, and the Advisory Board of Oregon FIRST Robotics. Skip is also a 2012 recipient of the Portland Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 award.

Surj is the CEO and co-founder of SmartMocha, which develops wireless sensors that physically connects to a server and feeds a pre-programmed batch of information (inventory changes, spikes in traffic, etc.) to another computer. As a grad student at MIT’s Media Lab, he experimented with hooking up physical objects to the Internet and is currently applying that thinking with SmartMocha. Surj says that creating sensor networks for industry is a $200 billion global market. Founded in 2013, the company took part in the Portland Incubator Project (PIE), which is a collaboration between Wieden & Kennedy and the local tech start-up community and is seeking a $1 million angel round.

It also gives us a specialized set of skills and analytics that deliver remarkably high-value real estate services, totally optimized for tenants.
So whether we’re locating your next space, driving a hard bargain on your next lease renewal, mapping out a long-term real estate strategy, or all these things—and more—you can be sure they will be fully aligned with your business objectives. We will show you—in no uncertain terms—what true tenant advocacy means.

Wealth Transitions
Doug SippelTitan Financial Associates, Inc.
100 Year PlanningWe tend to think of wealth as something that has a $$ in front of it. But wealth can also be described in human terms.
“It’s all about Leadership, Ownership, and Management of the wealth and resources. Great leaders, whether in the family, the business, or any organization, define wealth from a human and financial perspective; create a shared vision and the culture of trust and respect to allow their team to succeed.”
They take ownership of problems, and define how ownership of assets will transition over a 100 year timeframe. They manage to create a family, a business, or an organi-zation that affects the community and even the world in a very positive and effective way.”
Tell me a story…What is the future you want to live in?
What future do you want to leave for your great-grandchildren?
How will your financial wealth support you and your family in the future?
Will you sell your business to a 3rd party, a fami-ly member, your management team or employees through an ESOP, or will you keep it?
What is your family’s shared vision of the future?
Purpose.Purpose is a powerful word. Asking “What’s the pur-pose of …?” is a question that demands a thoughtful answer.
What is the purpose of my business?
What is the purpose of my family?
What is my purpose?
What is the purpose of my wealth? (First you should ask “What is my wealth?)
Our purpose is to help you make wise choices for the transition of your business, and other family wealth to work toward the future you desire.
With great wealth comes great responsibility
