The 51-mile trail was created upon the former LL&G/Santa Fe Railroad by Kansas Dept of Wildlife & Parks. The scenic trail spans from Ottawa to Iola and connects with the Flint Hills Nature Trail to the north and the Southwind Rail Trail to the south. Trail presentations available upon request by trail manager or the active Friends of the Prairie Spirit Trail.

Built in 1936, this train station was renovated by the City of Garnett in 1996 and serves as a rest stop at the midway point of the Prairie Spirit Rail Trail. The depot is an unmanned tourism information center where restrooms and drinking water

are complimentary. Browse the railroad memorabilia and walking tiles. The Baggage Area” can be used for picnics or special events upon request.

From 1959 to 1972, thousands gathered to watch the famous races on what is now considered the North Lake Road. Today, the 2.6-mile “true road” course leads visitors around one of Kansas’ most fascinating parks boasting lakeside camping amenities, swimming pool, golf course, rifle/pistol range, clay shooting range, skate park, tennis, recreation center and much more.

The North Lake Park is home of some amazing fairs, festivals, boat racing and kart racing events. A must-cruise venue for everyone!

Premiere water for boating, fishing and skiing. You’ll find an abundance of wilderness camping and electric-only sites available. A designated ATV trail adds to the list of park features. Located far enough outside of Garnett to authenticate the real “camp out” experience, yet close enough to town to call for pizza if the sizzle of the barbecue is too well done! CVR is the largest of Garnett’s 3 lakes.

Looking for some serenity? You’ve come to the right place. Veterans Memorial Park is a great place to relax, fish, picnic or just watch the ducks play. The Prairie Spirit Rail Trail passes over the lake’s dam. Rainbow Trout Season is held annually on Crystal Lake, November 1 through April 15. Lakeside RV campsites, open shelters for family gatherings or company picnics available. The Garnett Veterans of Foreign Wars post home and memorial is located adjacent this park.
