Molly graduated from CFHS in 2006 and then UNI. She loves how energetic, helpful, and united the CF staff has consistently been. She was a live-in nanny for a family living right by Hansen and never thought she would one day be teaching there!

Sarah worked for three years in the Waterloo School District as a paraeducator and has four children; three at Hansen and one in preschool. She enjoys repurposing thrift store items, crafts, and home design. Now that her children are older, they’ve started attending Friday night CFHS football games.

Ralph grew up in Indianola and is a graduate of UNI and Western Illinois. He enjoys supporting all three state schools in athletics and is an avid music fan. Ralph is excited to partner closely with UNI in the development of future teachers.

Steph has competed nationally at Olympic Weightlifting and is active in Crossfit. A native of Manly, she graduated from UNI and loves the Panthers!

Sheena coaches volleyball and basketball for the district but her favorite sporting team is the New York Yankees. A Mount Mercy graduate from Oelwein, Sheena enjoys spending time with family and (small) home improvement projects.

“It feels so good to be home,” according to this CF native. Lindsey has been teaching in Davenport for the past seven years. She has two daughters, Grace and Ava and enjoys the caring, supportive, and helpful environment here.

Wendy was surprised by the number of portables at Orchard Hill and the impact this has on learning. She is a big supporter of the CFHS volleyball team; her husband Matt is the head coach and her daughter plays for the team. She loves outdoor activities, attending UNI games, and being involved with church.

Jeremy is a huge Chicago Bears football fan, a Waterloo native, and twice a UNI graduate. He is amazed by the emphasis in our district on putting student needs first; a lot of districts talk about this but here—it’s in action!

Panthers AND the Hawkeyes are Scott’s favorite sporting teams says this UNI graduate and Cedar Rapids native. Scott and his family enjoy spending time together whether that’s outdoors, traveling, or with their friends/family.

“I’ve loved opening box after box of stored books, dusting them off and getting them back on the shelves for students to enjoy,” said Michelle. This UNI graduate writes a blog, Peaceful Reader, about books, food, and life and enjoys reading.

Chris is a Knight (Wartburg) and a Panther but “through thick and thin, mostly thick, I am a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan,” said Chris. He competes in slow-pitch softball and his team finished first in the state and fourth in a national tournament!

Michelle attended ISU but saves her greatest loyalty for her alma mater, UNI. She relayed the story of standing on a bookcase putting up a sign when a VERY loud fire alarm sounded. She didn’t know what was going on or if she mistakenly set the alarm off but it scared her half to death!

Kendra reports that she is thrilled to be back in the district (former CFHS music teacher) and loves the collaborative time with the other elementary music teachers. She enjoys traveling, bike rides, painting, cooking, and spending time with family.

December will be an exciting month for Katie as she is expecting a baby girl! She grew up in Kinglsey, a small town in northwest Iowa, and enjoys family and shopping in downtown Cedar Falls.

Amy is a UNI graduate but received her secondary teaching certificate and lived in Bellingham, WA for ten years. She’s pleased by the incredible access to technology in the district, or will be as soon as she catches up to the kids! Thanks to her husband, she is totally hooked on professional tennis.

Janae reports being surprised by the parallel parking outside the high school…setting the bar pretty high for teenage drivers! HA! She’s also impressed with the quality of the promotional videos created by the district. She is a Pinterest and Netflix fan, not so much a sports fan, but has favorite contestants in reality shows!

“I LOVE soccer,” said Heidi, adding that she has been playing soccer since she was six and played collegiate soccer at University of Northwestern-St. Paul. She enjoys going to the lake in Minnesota and spending time with her one-year-old niece, Adelyn.

Matt, volleyball and track coach, was actually coached by Bill Boevers in football and tennis. “I still feel bad about the four clipping penalties that nullified touchdowns,” he said. “I will apologize to him someday!” Matt also enjoys cooking, especially grilling and smoking different foods.

Michelle keeps busy with five-year-old twins and a two-year-old. She lived in Iowa City for the past twelve years and his excited to be back home in the Cedar Valley. Her family loves Chicago, including the Bears and Cubs.

Go meet Tesla, her pet tortoise, in room 137 at CFHS! Meghan plays piano, the French horn, and loves gardening. She enjoyed seeing the teachers and students get into the fun of homecoming, even teaching in pajamas!

Jessica taught herself to crochet several years ago and enjoys her creations. She grew up in Denver, Iowa and because she’s from “the north” she is a Vikings fan!

Steffany and her family recently moved here from Idaho and were so happy to come home. When touring schools, she was excited because of all the “specials” available (PE, Art, Band, etc.) because Idaho cut these programs! She’s also a registered yoga instructor and has taught more than 2000 classes.

Agatha Fenech, CFHS Senior, has been named a

National Child Awareness Month Youth Ambassador by

Youth Service America and the Festival of Children

Foundation. As one of 51 youth ambassadors, she will

receive funding and training to lead an initiative to raise

awareness about the health

and community benefits of

locally grown produce. Her

project was selected based

on the quality of the project
