Units 1-‐10: Phase 2 of ‘Letters and Sounds’
Every level is called a ‘Unit’. The reader progresses from Unit 1 through the units. Dandelion Launchers Series
and Dandelion Readers Series follow the same phonic progression. Dandelion Launchers have one or two lines of text. Dandelion Readers has three or four lines of text from Unit 3 onwards. Beginner readers should start
with Dandelion Launchers and progress to Dandelion Readers. Catch-‐up readers may be able to start with Dandelion Readers. The teacher will need to decide the level of text suitable for the pupil. Below are rough
guidelines of where to start the pupil in the series. Workbooks offer further opportunities to practise phonic skills and knowledge at each stage.
Start beginner readers here.
Start catch-‐up pupils here. The teacher can decide how many
books the pupil needs to read at each level.
