Fairfi eld is perfectly positioned to take full advantage of the economic growth predicted for Western Sydney in the decades ahead.

“We have unlimited potential to become a major business hub of Sydney, Fairfi eld is close to the City, the Parramatta CBD, the north-west and south-west growth corridors”, says Vince Movizio, President of the Fairfi eld City Chamber.

These facts were recognised by the NSW Government Small Biz Bus, which stopped by on April 17.

The free service provided expert personalised advice on managing a small business, developing key business skills and much needed face-to-face support.

“In business you never stop learning. This initiative gives excellent insights and links small business operators to their local Small Biz Connect business advisory service, which provides assistance throughout the year”. Explains Mr Movizio.

British entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson famously said “Business opportunities are like buses, there’s always another one coming”.

Easter and Mother’s Day festivities always unite the people of Fairfi eld.

Residents, shoppers, business and community leaders are all in one voice to celebrate the dates on the Fairfi eld calendar.

“Our City always comes together to mark these events, regardless of backgrounds or our differences, that’s why Fairfi eld is a great Australian story”, advocates Rafi d Elias from Fairfi eld Plaza Fruit & Grocery.

The life of our City is rich and was further enriched when Alice in Wonderland, the Easter Bunny and acclaimed musician Philipe Wittwer helped us to commemorate these important Fairfi eld moments.

who’s back?

Due to overwhelming demand Channel 10 celebrity chef Miguel Maestre is back for Culinary Carnivale.

“Family, food and fun are things I am passionate about and Culinary Carnivale has all of those ingredients! It’s a great family event”, said an excited Miguel Maestre.

Now in its fourth year the fi esta has fi rmly established itself as a major attraction at the prestigious Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Month and promises to be bigger and better in 2014.

The Spanish and Latin American party starts at 11am on Saturday 25 October in Spencer Street and a new attendance record of more than 10,000 people is predicted to be smashed.

Once again a world-class menu will be accompanied by fabulous entertainment, which will include Latino dancers, drummers, singers as well as football stars, and fun for the kids.

“I can’t wait, I love Culinary Carnivale”! Declared Miguel.

Culinary Carnivale is also an indirect stimulus package for the CBD; many businesses reported an increase in sales last year.

“We recorded an estimated 15% growth in traffi c through our Centre for the day”, said Jocelyn Marr, Centre Manager Fairfi eld Forum Shopping Centre.

The economic and social benefi ts of Culinary Carnivale are evident. The words of Spanish philosopher Baltasar Gracian are prophetic when it comes to our iconic event. “True knowledge lies in knowing how to live”.

When it comes to infrastructure the bottom line is ‘infrastructure is only as good as its use’, and the Fairfield Place Team is always conscious of this golden rule.

So, getting investment in infrastructure ‘right’ will benefit ratepayers and governments for generations to come. Fairfield’s Transport Interchange Upgrade at The Crescent has now opened. The NSW Government fully funded the $5.8m venture.

Commuters and pedestrians will see immediate improvements in efficiency, functionality, and safety that include an updated CCTV camera surveillance.

“Fairfield Council has worked closely with the State Government on this major infrastructure investment. We are pleased; the City’s past has been kept alive with the station forecourt incorporating the historic crane”. Explains Fairfield Place Manager, Tony Walker.

GENERATIONAL infrastructure

Building a better Fairfield

This generational investment in public transport will drive productivity and urban renewal to maintain the City’s economic success and environmental sustainability. In doing so, positioning Fairfield in the years ahead as one of Western Sydney’s economic centres.
