WelcomeAs I write this letter, the sun is out and shining- it has felt for a long time here in Central Europe that spring has come early this year. I feel this is a reflection of the time we are entering into as a region too. It’s a new season; it’s a time of an early spring.

As we have prayed for this time of gathering together, one of the things that God has emphasized is the meeting up to feast and celebrate together as a family. It is a joy to meet up again in these wonderful surroundings and reconnect with one another, spend time with one another, comfort and care for one another, and rejoice with one another!

Over the years we have always welcomed those from outside our region who have wanted to join us as we gather, but this year we have even more friends with us than usual. It’s even more exciting as many of them are deeply committed to us and desire to partner with us long term.

It’s also special to see so many of our friends with us as their presence is a reflection of our theme of being a people of hope and reconciliation. It makes sense that it’s not just about us gathering in isolation, but we are seeing a growing connectedness to others around us as God moves us forward into many new and exciting things. We eagerly anticipate what God will do during this time and in the coming year as He speaks to us about…. “Moving us Forward in Hope & Reconciliation.”

Many Blessings,Carmelita & the CELT

keynoteSpeaker

Jonny Clark, who has been leading the work of YWAM in all of Ireland since 2009 and in Northern Ireland since 2007, is our keynote speaker this year. He is a New Zealander by birth but has lived in Northern Ireland since 1984 when he was a 9 year old YWAM kid. He started the work of YWAM in the inner city of Belfast in 2002 before moving the base down to An Cuan in Rostrevor in June 2010. A big call in his life has been to motivate people to be “Jesus with skin on” in the midst of places of conflict and violence. Jonny has a wonderful wife Jenn who leads the work with him, and they have 3 great boys: JJ, Ridley and Callum.

“During this time I want to bring some of my 12 years of experience of pioneering and working in post-conflict nations and of reconciliation ministry. As well as this, I’m coming with a small team from my base to invest in you as a region by praying, prophesying and ministering to you.”

workshopskeynoteThis year we are pleased to be able to offer a variety of workshops during our time together. Workshops are a great opportunity for us to learn from one another, gain valuable insights, and use a practical, hands-on approach to important topics. Through the workshop format we have the opportunity to meet in smaller groups and focus on topics that are relevant to our lives and ministries. We also have the opportunity to connect with others in the workshops who share our needs and vision. Please look over the list of workshops that are being offered* and consider which ones might best serve you at this time. Our hope is that these workshops will be relevant to you and your team and allow us all to grow together as we learn and share in these sessions.

During our meetings in Iasi last year we processed together having an Eldership Group for CE. All those that had at least 2 suggestions from the groups represented at the meeting were asked to be elders. The above leaders have accepted the role to be elders for us in our region. They were very happy to accept this role as they have a heart for our nations and also wanted an opportunity to have ongoing relationship with us. Those joining us will be sharing a word each morning with us.

ConversationsIn a mission as diverse and decentralized as YWAM, good communication is essential to the health and growth of our ministries and our mission as a whole. Communication is so important that it is the 18th value for YWAM: Communicate with Integrity.

‘YWAM affirms that everything exists because God communicates. Therefore, YWAM is committed to truthful, accurate, timely and relevant communication. We believe good communication is essential for strong relationships, healthy families and communities, and effective ministry.’

YWAM Central Europe’s Newsletter ‘Conversations’ is one of many platforms that we can use to uphold and strengthen good communication in our region. ‘Conversations’ exists to create consistent communication from your ministry to the rest of the region and from the rest of the region to your local ministry. It is vitally important that we hear what is happening in your local context and that you hear what is happening outside your own location and ministry. The stories and communication pieces in ‘Conversations’ can shape us, challenge us, and help us grow. We would love to hear from every location throughout the year. Have something to share? Send it to us so everyone can benefit from your input!

Besides the ‘Conversations’ newsletter, there are several other ways to communicate and interact with YWAM in our region and beyond. These include our Facebook page, twitter feed, and our blog where you can read current articles and updates from around the region as well as our website where you can find resources and links to the greater YWAM family. Lets value communication with integrity together!
