DEAR PARENTS,

AS MOST OF YOU ALREADY KNOW, THIS IS MY LAST YEAR AS THE PRINCIPAL OF SACRED HEART CATHEDRAL SCHOOL...

I will be entering a new position with the Diocese of Knoxville as the Diocesan Director of Curriculum and Instruction. As I write this farewell letter to our Sacred Heart community, I can’t help but reflect on the many blessings I have received during the past twenty years from being a part of this outstanding school. To say Sacred Heart is a special place is an understatement! In the send off to our eighth grade graduates, I reminded them that when they started school they had to learn their A, B, C’s. So now as they end their time at SHCS, I encouraged them to always remember their A, B, C’s. Letter A represents appreciation. Sacred Heart appreciates our families' constant support of Catholic school education. It's value is immeasurable and far beyond anything that money can buy. As a school we appreciate the sacrifices parents, grandparents and

others have made to make Catholic education possible and to afford us the support to deliver the highest caliber of school programs. Letter B is for the word believe. Believe in the Lord’s word, the one truth and the path to our salvation. Believe in the ability to use our God-given gifts to meet challenges, to set and accomplish goals, and to serve others. Believe that all things are possible in the Lord. Believe in the power of prayer. St. Teresa of Avila said:

Letter C stands for Christ. Christ must remain the center of our lives. Over the years, I have had the privilege to observe the “Body of Christ” at work. Our community is a faith-filled community willing to use our unique and

special gifts to serve and love each other. I also decided that in saying farewell, C should stand for something a little more modern. The texting abbreviation "C-ya" came to mind. I want to say I will "C-ya." I will C-ya in Church and around our community. I will C-ya as Sacred Heart Cathedral School continues in its tradition of excellence. Remember your A, B, C’s! Thank you for the support you have shown our school and thank you for the support you have personally given me. Sacred Heart Cathedral School will forever be in my heart. Thank you for the past sixteen years!

In Christ’s love, Sedonna J. Prater Principal

The 2013 SHCS Dinner Auction was held on April 20th at Lighthouse Knoxville and was a tremendous success! Many thanks to everyone involved for a fabulous event. From the delicious appetizers & cocktails to the awesome food and decorations, auction items, emcee and auctioneer, we couldn't have asked for more. The attendees were the most enthusiastic we've had, and the band got everyone kicking up their heels. The Auction Committee is truly grateful. Money raised from the event help provide the school with instructional materials, funds for field trips, educational software and teacher support. We are already looking forward to next year’s fantastic Sacred Heart event! ~ Nicole Noe & Ginger Holt
