    School Report

    Your counselor or designated school oicial should submit this orm oryour schools own report orm on your behal.     Teacher Evaluations

    Applicants to Cornell are required to submit two teacher recom-mendations. Please be sure to remind individuals writing lettersor you to include your name and date o birth on all pages i they aresending them by mail. You are encouraged to limit your letters orecommendation to the two that are required.

    Midyear Report

    TheMidyearReportshouldbesubmittedassoonafterJanuary2aspossible. Cornell strongly encourages guidance counselors to utilizetheonlinesubmissionofMidyearReportformsthatisofferedbytheCommon Application. Sending your orms via the web will allow us to

    electronically load midyear grades into application iles without opening

    mail or scanning documents into our imaging system. This allows thereports to reach your application ile as many as three or our weekssooner than i they were submitted by mail. We understand that studewhose schools are on trimesters may not submit this orm or have anynew grade inormation to report at the time o submission.

    Standardized Testing RequirementsAll applicants should submit either the SAT Reasoning Test or the A

    with Writing. In addition, each undergraduate college/school has specrequirements or the SAT Subject Tests (see requirements below). It is yresponsibility to make sure that you have taken the appropriate SubjecTests and have the scores oicially reported to Cornell rom the testinagency by the application deadline.

Thus, although the Ivy League institutionsre similar in many respects, each member institution will continue to make its ownndependent admission decisions according to its own particular admissions policy.n recent years, however, it has become clear that the transition between secondarychool and institutions o higher education has become increasingly complex andhat greater eorts should be made to simpliy the process through more uniormdmissions procedures.     . General Procedures

    . The College Board-approved Early Decision Plan, which is oered by Brown,Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth and the University o Pennsylvania, requires arior commitment to matriculate.     II. Early Evaluation Procedure

    . As determined by each institution, admissions oices may choose todvise applicants o the probability o admission (e.g., likely, possible,nlikely). Institutions may issue likely letters only in writing, rom theice o admission. Likely letters will have the eect o letters o admission,o be conirmed on the common notiication date, subject to revocationnly on the same terms as letters o admission.

    . Within each institutions overall admissions process, rom October 1 throughMarch15anadmissionsofficemayissueprobabilisticcommunications,n writing, to applicants who are recruited student-athletes. (Suchommunications given by coaches, whether orally or in writing, do notonstitute binding institutional commitments.) An applicant who receivesne or more such written communications and who has made a decision to

    matriculate at one institution is encouraged (but not required) to notiy allother institutions, and to withdraw all other applications, as promptlyas possible.

    c. A coach may both inquire about a candidate's level o commitmentto an Ivy institution, or interest in attending that Ivy institution, andencourage that interest. However, a candidate may not be required to ma matriculation commitment, to withdraw other applications, or to rerarom visiting another institution, as a condition or receiving a "likely"letter, or an estimate o inancial aid eligibility, or a coachs support in thadmissions process.     V. Financial Aid

    All the Ivy institutions ollow the common policy that any inancial aidstudent-athletes will be awarded and renewed on the sole basis o econoneed with no dierentiation in amount or in kind (e.g. packaging) based

    on athletic ability or participation, provided that each school shall applyits own standard o economic need. The oicial award o aid may only bmade at or subsequent to the time o admission.

    Only the Oice o Financial Aid has the authority to award inancial aion behal o the institution, and applicants should rely only on ormalcommunications rom these oices. No suggestion that inancial aid maybe available that comes rom anyone else associated with the institution binding on the institution. No applicant should consider or accept an oo inancial help rom an alumnus, and any such oer should be reportedimmediately to the Oice o Financial Aid.

    VI. Common Reply Date
