Travel Through TimeIn July 1749, George Washington noted in his journal, in the BlueRidge Mountains I laid off a town. Founded in 1796, Washingtonis the county seat and home to the five-star, five-diamond The Inn

at Little Washington. Other country inns situated in and around thetown offer a variety of accommodations. A mercantile, caf and cof-fee shop offer light fare, and outside the town, a country inn offersfine dining set against the backdrop of Shenandoah National Park.Washington is home to shops, galleries, theaters and a wellness center.

The village of Sperryville is located along the picturesque ThorntonRiver, near the entrance to Shenandoah National Park. Founded in1820, the village is known for its old-time charm.
