Monthly Meeting Minutes - July 10th, 2012

President Mike Cropsey called the meeting to order at 8:09 PM at Wally’s Spot with a very large number of members in attendance. Mike requested that all cell phones have their ringers turned off. Reviewed last meeting’s minutes.

New Members: Mike and Linda Bergman, Dean and Teresa Simonar, Jim and Betty Hoover, Dennis and Lisa Fenrick, Michael and Beth Trudell, Tony and Laura Majewski, Darwin and Annette Damp, Gary and Karen Forehand, Jerry and Mary Miller. Welcome!

New Cars or Projects: ’56 Corvette For Sale—Charlie Nakita, Looking for a series 4 rear end for a redo on ’62, Pete has a ’67 very clean collector type car (not a driver).

June Dinner Run(s): Group of 6 cars met at the Shell/Arby’s Hwy 54/57 split, just off Luxemburg exit and ran to the Nightingale in Sturgeon Bay. Great meal. Lots of bug-splattered Corvettes!

Also, thank you to Dale and Kathy Ott for planning a spur of the moment dinner run to Schwarz’s in St. Anna with a stop on the way at the Woodfire Lodge in Brillion. What a great run on a beautiful day. Thanks.

50/50 Raffle: If members want to have additional runs bring it up during the “New Business” part of the meeting. The Club will assist in publishing information and getting members to attend. Also, feel free to use Facebook or the Club’s website if you want to set up something. The Club stance is the more runs and activities the better. Goal to have at least 1 run a week during the Corvette season.

Sundaes on Sunday: Thank you to Randy and Jan Kempen for planning the Sundaes run to Scoops in Chilton. We had a great run and the ice cream was fantastic! Also, thank you to Dennis and Lisa Fenrick for the impromptu stop on the way home at Ledgestone Winery.

Fall Run to Mackinaw: Wendy Cropsey gave a run-down on the Fall Run. Run is set for Sept 21 – 23. Staying at the Hamilton Inn Select, 701 S Huron Ave., Mackinaw City, MI 49701, Phone: 231-436-5493. Hotel has a large breakfast buffet. Meet at 7:45 AM Grand Central Shell leaving at 8 am (used to be a BP). Most of the drive will be highway to get up there. Activities will be planned for each day including the Sunday return trip.

Car Shows: Leicht at Night Thursday July 26. It is hoped we will have 25 cars. We would like to see more. Ads will be in the Press Gazette and the Entertainer in which the Corvettes of the Bay logo is prominently displayed. This is a good opportunity to get our club name out there and noticed. Ken Weinhauer offered that Titletown will reserve the upstairs specifically for the Club. The show is from 5:30 to 10:30. Bring your chairs and bug spray, but you can’t bring carry-ins. Special designated parking just for us to display our cars. The band is Unity (reggae band).

Marquette Seafood Fest and Car Show: Pete has planned the trip. Leave August 24 at 1:00 PM return August 26. A side trip is planned to Historic Big Bay. Assistance is needed to help with planning the run to Marquette because Pete has a conflict and may not be able to go.

Pierce Park Car Show: Sunday, July 22.

Pearly Gates Veteran’s Ride: Saturday, July 14. This is a great event. Veteran’s ceremony is outstanding. Plan on taking in all or part of this event. See website for more details.

Registration will be from 11:30 to 1:00. There will be 5 stops on the route. The party will be at Chicago Street Pub & Grill (the old Swan Club). Poker hands will be $5 each and a sixth card can be purchase for an additional $5. There will be 100% payout as well as door prizes and a riddle to solve for a prize. Corvette trivia will be used as a tie breaker.

Pig Roast/Corn Roast: Set for Noon, Saturday, August 11 at Rich Dudkiewicz’s, 4283 White Pine Dr. Everything will be there, but members can bring dessert. We do need to limit desserts so we don’t have too much! The pig will be done around 4:00 PM.
