The TripDAY 1

Our trip begins the morning of Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at the Bayview in Bar Harbor, Maine. Meet your Trust for Public Land (“TPL”) staff and Iconic guides dressed in your biking clothes, and as always we suggest that you keep your rain jacket handy. See “Trip Details” for additional logistics information for that morning, including the schedule of shuttles that TPL and Iconic will be providing from Bangor to Bar Harbor both the day prior and morning of our trip.

Welcome to the Pine Tree State! Established in 1919 as the !rst national park east of the Mississippi River, Acadia is truly a nature-lover’s haven of meadows and forests, beaches and rocky coastline. Aer your guides !t your bike and give a brief talk on biking techniques and safety, you’re ready to explore on your own! We’ll follow Acadia’s historic carriage roads—57 miles of traffic-free trails that were a gi from philanthropist John D. Rockefeller. Today’s ride along quiet paths passing stone bridges and gatehouses is the perfect introduction to the area.

Aer lunch today with National Park Service Superintendent Sheridan Steele, our aernoon options include a chance to stay on your bike and explore more of the park’s idyllic roads or opt to join a naturalist on a hike up Acadia’s most beautiful and least traveled peak, Cedar Swamp Mountain. is hike offers incredible 360-degree views of the park: Somes Sound to the west, the Gulf of Maine to the south, Cadillac Mountain to the east and Porcupine Islands to the northeast.

DAY 2

Acadia Loop Ride 31 Miles Cadillac Mountain Climb Ride Option 35 Miles

Today we’ll begin with a hearty breakfast, then continue exploring Acadia by bike. We’ll follow the parks main thoroughfare on Mount Desert Island, the 27-mile Park Loop Road. As we pedal among scenery that changes from !r and spruce trees, to lakes and coastline, we’ll be sure to stop for photo ops at a few scenic spots, including under Hole and Jordan Pond. Finish strong with a 3.5-mile climb up 1,530-foot Cadillac Mountain, the tallest mountain along the eastern coast! Tonight we will have dinner out on stunning Otter Point at home of Mel and Lissa Hodder, and our speaker will be renowned Maine art historian Carl Little. At day’s end, we’ll return to the Bayview to rest up for tomorrow’s adventures. Lodging: Bayview

DAY 3

Shuttle to Brooklin 1.5 HoursBrooklin to Four Seasons Ride 23 MilesBrookin to Brooksville Town House 28 MilesBrooklin to Haystack Option 44 Miles

From Bar Harbor we shuttle to Brooklin, well known for its tradition of wood boat design manufacturing. Back on the bike, our destination this morning is Four Seasons Farm, an experimental market garden in Harborside. Owned by writers Barbara Damrosch and Eliot Coleman, the farm produces vegetables year-round and has become a nationally recognized model of small-scale sustainable agriculture.

Aer lunch there, we’ll spin to Deer Isle, an artist community set on a rugged coastline. As you pass the farms and forested landscape, you’ll also notice the large pink granite boulders spread throughout. Deer Isle granite is quite beautiful and was even used during construction of famous Public buildings such as Rockefeller Center and the John F. Kennedy Memorial in Arlington National Cemetery. We’ll stop at the Haystack Mountain School of Cras, which offers workshops on everything from clay to paper, blacksmithing to woodworking.

Aerward, settle in at the Pilgrim’s Inn. Built in 1793 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the inn overlooks stunning Penobscot Bay. Tonight we’ll recount the day’s events over dinner. Lodging: Pilgrim’s Inn

DAY 4

Sea Kayaking on Penobscot Bay 3 HoursShuttle to Camden 2 Hours

We’ll start the day with a home-cooked breakfast at the inn, then shuttle a short distance to Old Quarry Ocean Adventures. Aer getting sea-kayaking instructions from our guides, we’ll explore the Deer Isle Archipelago, comprised of 60 islands. Propelled by our own arms, our slower pace is perfect for observing weathered cottages and craggy shorelines up close. Out on the water, keep an eye out for wildlife, such as cormorants, bald eagles, beavers, and harbor seals.

Aer breaking for a picnic lunch, we’ll shuttle to Camden, a town full of old New England charm, where we’ll spend the rest of the aernoon. e choice is yours—you’re free to do what you want. In this quaint town with art galleries, boutique shopping, and restaurants, deciding shouldn’t be any problem! Save some energy for our sunset cruise around Penobscot Bay this evening aboard one of Camden’s most majestic Maine Windjammers, the Schooner Olad.

At the end of the day, we’ll rest up at Camden Harbour Inn, a landmark hotel set on a hilltop, offering 180-degree views of the village and harbor. Lodging: Camden Harbour Inn

DAY 5

Lake Megunticook Loop Ride 1.5 HoursMount Battie Hike 3 MilesOptional Farnsworth Ride 12 Miles

Now that we’ve gotten to know Camden a little better, we’ll take a morning ride through its surrounding

hills. If you need a break from your bike, take the optional hike along the coast then heads through the woods to reach the summit of Mt. Battie, for a photo op of the stunning views of Penobscot Bay and the islands around Camden. In the aernoon, we’ll stay inland and ride along quiet roads to reach Rockland, another town known for arts and culture. Once there, take the time you’d like to sit in a café on Main Street, to visit antiques shops or the Farnsworth Art Museum, which displays a collection of 18th and 19th century American art. You won’t want to miss the museum’s works by native artists and the extensive Wyeth collection. e choice is yours how you choose to return to Camden - enjoy the fresh air with one last spin of the day or catch an early shuttle back to enjoy our !nal dinner together. DAY 6

Shuttle to Bangor 2.5 Hours

We will offer a morning and an aernoon shuttle today to Bangor International Airport. For those on the aernoon shuttle, the morning is yours to enjoy – linger in Camden Harbour Inn’s breakfast room or jump back on your bike for one last ride. Please see “Trip Details” for end-of-trip logistics.

After  reviewing  the  following  information,  please  inform  us  of  your  arrival  and    departure  plans  once  your  reservations  have  been  9inalized.

MEETING TIME AND LOCATIONYour TPL Maine trip begins the morning of Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at e Bayview in Bar Harbor, Maine. Bar Harbor is about one hour’s drive from Bangor. If you’re arriving in Bangor on Monday, August 13, you can take the Iconic shuttle to e Bayview that aernoon. If you &y into Bangor International Airport aer 6pm on Monday, August 13, you’ll want to spend the night at the Bangor Airport Sheraton Four Points Hotel adjacent to the airport and take the Iconic shuttle to e Bayview the next morning. Shuttle times and pick-up locations in Bangor will be determined closer to the trip.

If you’ll be staying at e Bayview on the evening of August 13, please let TPL know at the time of booking your trip. On Tuesday, August 14, the day the trip starts, please meet the TPL group dressed in your biking clothes with your rain jacket handy, or have your bike and rain gear packed in a separate daypack. Speci!c information about where and when to meet will be provided closer to the trip.

TRIP CONCLUSIONOn the last day of the trip, Sunday, August 19, Iconic will provide two shuttles from Camden to Bangor

International Airport. e morning shuttle will drop off at the airport at about 11 a.m. e later shuttle arrives at approximately 2 p.m.

The Fine Print

Rates: Trip rates are based upon minimum participation levels, tariffs, and currency values.

Registration, Deposits, and Final Payment: For all trips, a deposit of $500 per person per trip, payable by check, money order, wire transfer, or major credit card is required at the time of booking to secure con"rmation. Final payment including any extension(s) is payable by check, money order, or wire transfer ONLY and due at least 90 days prior to the scheduled trip departure date. If your reservation is made less than 90 days prior to departure, the entire cost of the trip is due at the time of registration by check, money order, wire transfer, or major credit card.

Cost Includes: Double occupancy. All meals: breakfasts, lunches, snacks, dinners, refreshments and receptions. Fully trained, "rst-aid certi"ed, professional guides and knowledgeable local partners. Any and all equipment, safe and well maintained. Vehicle support and land transportation during the trip. Iconic Adventures T-shirt, water bottle, luggage tags and luggage service. Pre-departure and packing information. Incidental expenses such as taxes, dining and housekeeping gratuities, local partner and expert gratuities and national park entrance fees.

Not Included: Gratuities to Iconic’s guides. Alcoholic beverages and related gratuities on the guest’s own time. Pre-and post-trip accommodations and associated expenses. Air and land transportation to/from host cities. All types of personal insurance. Personal expenses.

Pre-departure Information: Aer receiving your reservation and deposit, we’ll send you a pre-trip planner with general information about the area you’ll be visiting, a packing list, exercise guidelines, a guest information questionnaire and a liability release agreement for you to sign and return within 10 days.

Cancellations and Refunds: e following cancellation policies and cancellation fees are in effect:

• Cancellation 91 days or more before trip departure: Full trip payment less a $100 cancellation/administration fee is refunded.

• Cancellation 61 to 90 days before trip departure: Full trip payment less the $500 deposit is refunded.

• Cancellation 60 to 31 days before trip departure: 50% of the trip payment is refunded.

• Cancellation 0 to 30 days: No refund is given.

Cancelled Programs: Iconic reserves the right to cancel any trip prior to departure for any reason whatsoever, including insufficient participation or logistical problems that may impede program operations. e refund of all program price payments received shall release Iconic from any further liability. A program with insufficient

participation would normally be cancelled a minimum of 90 days prior to departure. If a trip is cancelled due to force majeur (e.g. acts of God, war, labor strikes, earthquake, &ooding, etc.) Iconic will promptly refund the portion of the trip price not already advanced to suppliers and use its best efforts to recover and refund the balance as promptly as possible. However, Iconic does not guarantee recovery of any or all of the advance payments made, and its use of best efforts to recover these payments will not include the institution of any legal proceedings in foreign jurisdictions outside of Colorado. Iconic is not responsible for any expenses incurred by program participants in preparing for a cancelled program (e.g. non-refundable advance purchase air tickets, visa fees, medical expenses, equipment, etc.) or for any additional arrangements should the program participant have embarked prior to the scheduled group departure date.

Itineraries: Accommodations and arranged excursions are subject to change at any time due to unforeseen circumstances or circumstances beyond Iconic’s control. Every effort will be made to operate trips as planned, but alterations may occur aer the final itinerary has been issued. Iconic reserves the right to withdraw a trip or any part of it, to make such alterations to the itinerary or trip inclusions, as it deems necessary or desirable.

Travel Insurance: Iconic strongly recommends that you purchase travel and cancellation insurance to protect yourself from unexpected circumstances that may cause you to cancel your trip. In addition, we recommend you consider obtaining a policy that will cover some of your losses associated with damage or loss of luggage or personal effects.

Arbitration: Any controversy or claim arising out of or relating to any services or products offered or obtained through Iconic, including without limitation any claim related to bodily injury, death or property damage, shall be settled by binding arbitration in Colorado in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association then existing, and judgment on the arbitration award may be entered in any court having jurisdiction over the subject matter of the controversy.

Responsibility: Neither Iconic Adventures (“Iconic”) nor any person or agent acting for, through or on behalf of Iconic shall be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever arising from any cause whatsoever and without restricting the generality of the aforegoing shall particularly not be responsible for loss or damage arising from any errors or omissions contained in its brochure or other literature, loss or damage caused by delays, sickness, the, injury or death. Iconic may at its discretion and without liability or cost to itself at any time cancel or terminate the guest’s booking and in particular without limiting the generality of the aforegoing it shall be entitled to do so in the event of the illness or the illegal or incompatible behavior of the guest, who shall in such circumstances not be entitled to any refund. e person making any booking will, by the making of such booking, warrant that he or she has authority to enter into a contract on behalf of the other person included in such a booking and in the event of the failure of any or all of the other persons so included to make payment, the person making the booking shall by his/her signature thereof assume personal liability for the total price of all bookings made by him/her.
