Welcome to Simpson College. There’s no better place to spend a Saturday afternoon in the fall than at Bill Buxton Stadium, and we’re glad you’ve joined us to cheer on the Storm.

This is an exciting time to be a part of the Simpson Community. The landscape of the campus is changing, paving the way for the next chapter in the college’s storied history. Highlighting the changes around campus are the opening of the brand-new, 55,000-square-foot Kent Campus Center and the remodel of Phieffer Dinning Hall. Also, the newly renovated Blank Performing Arts Center begins its second year in 2012.

Change is underway on the athletic front as well. The basketball and volleyball teams will enjoy a brand new gym fl oor inside Cowles Field-house and the football, soccer and track and fi eld teams enter their second year of competition on the playing surfaces installed in Buxton Stadium last year. But the most exciting change is yet to come - the proposed renovation of the Cowles and Carse facilities. I invite you to learn more about this project on page 12.

While we seek to provide the best venues and facilities for our student-athletes, the Simpson Experience is about more than that. As a member of NCAA Division III and the Iowa Conference, we take great pride in developing student-athlete potential through a holistic educa-tional approach that includes rigorous academics, competitive athletics and opportunity to pursue other interests and passions. Students are encouraged to take advantage of the many academic and professional resources available to them right here on campus, as well as utilize our proximity to Des Moines to pursue jobs and internships.

Thank you for joining us today and we hope to see you again soon. Go Storm!

Glogowski completed his fourth season as Simpson’s head coach in 2011. The 31st head coach in program history, Glogowski owns an overall record of 17-23. In 2012 he will take on the role of defensive coordinator in addition to his head coaching duties.

After starting the 2011 season 0-3, the Storm won fi ve of their last seven games. Included in the run was a thrilling 38-37 overtime win over then-No. 19 Wartburg in Waverly. Simpson made up a 17-point fourth-quarter defi cit in the win, its fi rst over Wartburg since 1997.

In his debut season of 2008, Glogowski delivered the fi rst winning season in four years, as the Storm posted a 7-3 record in fi nishing third in the conference. The seven wins marked the most by a Simpson fi rst-year head coach since Lloyd Dean led Simpson to a 7-3 record in 1931, as Simpson posted the best total offense and total defense in the Iowa Conference.

Glogowski came to Simpson from the University of South Dakota, where he spent four seasons with the Coyotes. From 2006 to 2007, Glogowski served as the team’s defensive coordinator, guiding Division II’s fi fth-best run defense in 2006.

Prior to joining the South Dakota staff, Glogowski was the defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator at Allegheny College (Pa.) from 2001-03. From 2000 to 2001, Glogowski was special teams coordinator and outside linebacker coach at Clarion University (Pa.). Prior to that he was special teams coordinator and inside linebacker coach at Allegheny from 1998-2000, a graduate assistant at Augustana College (S.D.) in 1997-98 and a student assistant at South Dakota in 1996.

A four-year starter for the Coyotes at strong safety and linebacker, Glogowski earned Don Hansen Football Gazette All-America Honors in 1995 after a season in which he had 91 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 5.5 quarterback sacks and an interception. He was also voted the North Central Conference Most Valuable Defensive Back in 1995. He earned All-Conference honors in 1995 and was honorable mention All-Conference in 1993 and 1994.

Jim and his wife Kate, along with sons Jacob and Ben and daughter, Maddie, reside in Indianola.

Head Coach

Jim GlogowskiWhen Jim Glogowski came to Simpson in 2008, he brought a sense of excitement and enthusiasm to the school’s football program. Leading a passionate coaching staff, Glogowski has the pieces in place to bring the Storm back to prominence.

Playing at Simpson gives you access to some of the best athletic facilities in the Iowa Conference and the Midwest.

New in 2011, Simpson replaced the track and turf inside Bill Buxton Stadium to provide student-athletes the opportunity to compete on the nation’s fi nest playing surfaces. Installed on the fi eld was a FieldTurf Revolution playing surface, the fi rst of its kind to appear in the Midwest. Th e track is a full-pour, 10-millimeter track from Beynon, the same surface found at the University of Iowa.

Simpson’s main indoor facilities, the Carse Fitness Center and the Cowles Center, house a variety of diff erent amenities for training, strength and conditioning and recreation. Simpson’s indoor facilities include a 5,000 square-foot weight room, a competition fi eldhouse for basketball and volleyball, racquetball courts, a wrestling room, a 25-meter swimming pool, locker rooms and indoor batting cages.

Other outdoor venues include Dick and Nancy Buxton Memorial Tennis Courts, McBride Baseball Field and the Simpson Softball Complex. Simpson’s golf teams practice and compete at the Indianola Country Club.
