FISHING: The opportunities to catch sport fish are year-round, however the best angling experi-ences are in the Spring and Fall. Beginning on the last Saturday of April, is the opening of the Upland Trout season throughout Tehama County. The best time for Shad, found only below the Red Bluff Diversion Dam, is May and June. The largest Salmon run occurs from September through December. Steelhead is best mid-October through November. Also available through-out the year are Smallmouth Bass, Black Bass, Blue Gill and Catfish. HUNTING: DEER – Zone B-5 (West side of Tehama County) September 15, 2012 - October 21, 2012 (The 3RD Saturday in September, for 37 consecutive days.)Zone C-4 (East side of Tehama County) September 15, 2012 to September 30, 2012 (The 3RD Saturday in September, for 16 consecutive days.)Zone C-4 Late Season (Hunt G-1) October 27, 2012- November 4, 2112 (The 4th Saturday in October, for 9 consecutive days.) DOVE – All Zones (“split” season)September 1, 2012 – September 15, 2012 November 12, 2012 – December 26, 2012 QUAIL – Zone Q1 (all Quail) October 16, 2012 – January 30, 2013 October 15, 2012 – January 29, 2013 PHEASANT – General November 12, 2012 – December 25, 2012 WILD TURKEY – All Zones (Fall) November 12, 2012 – November 27, 2012 The Tehama Wildlife Area offers Pig hunting to persons holding a Department issued entry permit during the G-1 Late Season Buck hunt. For other Pig hunting opportunities, contact the Depart of Fish & Game’s Bay-Delta Region (707) 944-5500; The Dye Creek Preserve (530) 527-3588; and Bureau of Land Management (530) 224-2100, also offers Pig hunting to the public.

California State Fish & Game Commission. WINTER SPORTS: The Lassen Volcanic National Park Area provides a spectacular venue to visit the snow. There are cross-country skiing opportunities on the nearby Forest Service McGowan Lake Trail, as well as a Forest Service designated and maintained snowmobile area at Morgan Summit. Ranger-led snowshoe walks are offered from January to early April, on Saturdays and Sundays at 1:30 p.m. from the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center at the south-west entrance to the Park. Lassen Park also features a variety of cross-country ski destinations for sight-seeing or overnight camping. Wilderness permits are required for backcountry camping, and are available at the new Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., or after hours in the Center’s 24-hour vestibule. Entrance fees of $10 per vehicle (or motorcycle) are charged year-round, and are valid for seven consecutive days. Check current conditions in the Park by calling the Visitor Center (530) 595-4480, or online at www.nps.gov/lavo before beginning your trip. SACRAMENTO RIVER DISCOVERY CENTER ANNUAL EVENTS: The Visitors Center is open 11:00 to 4:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday; Guided Bird Tours, 1st Saturday of each month, 8:00 a.m. (Rain or shine); Discovery Garden Work Group, 1st Saturday of the month, 10 a.m.; Special Evening Program on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7 p.m.; Watershed Celebration and Plant Sale on May 12, Saturday, May 9; Summer Camp begins June 18 concluding on July 30; Plant Sale, Nov. 3: Educational programs are offered byappointment all year long, please call for more information 527-1196. FARMERS’ MARKET: Fresh fruits, vegetables, and other Farmers’ Market items available every Saturday morning June through mid-October. Again this year, a second mid-week Market will be held during the summer months through September in the downtown area in conjunction with a summer concert series. FISHING: The opportunities to catch sport fish are year-round, however the best angling experi-ences are in the Spring and Fall. Beginning on the last Saturday of April, is the opening of the Upland Trout season throughout Tehama County. The best time for Shad, found only below the Red Bluff Diversion Dam, is May and June. The largest Salmon run occurs from September through December. Steelhead is best mid-October through November. Also available through-out the year are Smallmouth Bass, Black Bass, Blue Gill and Catfish. HUNTING: DEER – Zone B-5 (West side of Tehama County) September 15, 2012 - October 21, 2012 (The 3RD Saturday in September, for 37 consecutive days.)Zone C-4 (East side of Tehama County) September 15, 2012 to September 30, 2012 (The 3RD Saturday in September, for 16 consecutive days.)Zone C-4 Late Season (Hunt G-1) October 27, 2012- November 4, 2112 (The 4th Saturday in October, for 9 consecutive days.) California State Fish & Game Commission. WINTER SPORTS: The Lassen Volcanic National Park Area provides a spectacular venue to visit the snow. There are cross-country skiing opportunities on the nearby Forest Service McGowan Lake Trail, as well as a Forest Service designated and maintained snowmobile area at Morgan Summit. Ranger-led snowshoe walks are offered from January to early April, on Saturdays and Sundays at 1:30 p.m. from the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center at the south-west entrance to the Park. Lassen Park also features a variety of cross-country ski destinations for sight-seeing or overnight camping. Wilderness permits are required for backcountry camping, and are available at the new Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., or after hours in the Center’s 24-hour vestibule. Entrance fees of $10 per vehicle (or motorcycle) are charged year-round, and are valid for seven consecutive days. Check current conditions in the Park by calling the Visitor Center (530) 595-4480, or online at www.nps.gov/lavo before beginning your trip. SACRAMENTO RIVER DISCOVERY CENTER ANNUAL EVENTS: The Visitors Center is open 11:00 to 4:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday; Guided Bird Tours, 1st Saturday of each month, 8:00 a.m. (Rain or shine); Discovery Garden Work Group, 1st Saturday of the month, 10 a.m.; Special Evening Program on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7 p.m.; Watershed Celebration and Plant Sale on May 12, Saturday, May 9; Summer Camp begins June 18 concluding on July 30; Plant Sale, Nov. 3: Educational programs are offered byappointment all year long, please call for more information 527-1196.
