Testing Steps for 6th, 7th, 8th & 9th
Step One
• Meet required age (the physical exam can be taken at “the” World Event in advance
of reaching age requirement or any World Event after)• Achieve time in rank (the physical exam can be taken at “the” World Event inadvance of reaching time in grade requirement or any World Event after)
• Earn required World and National Credits• Pass a two hour pre-test evaluation (6th, 7th, 8th candidates) in order to move on to
step two.• Complete symbolic walk and write report
Step Two
• Register online and submit the following items:

Step Three
• The Promotional Committee Co-Chairs Dr. Kimm and GM Craig Kollars, 8th & 9th degrees, Board of Directors, and Corporate Management must approve candidate totake the physical exam not less than 7 days prior to testing opportunity. This
endorsement of eligibility will be given collectively during one meeting.
Step Four
• Take and pass rank test (test cannot be attempted until steps 1, 2 & 3 are satisfied)(the physical exam can be taken at “the” World Event in advance of reaching age &time in grade requirement or any World Event after).
Step Five
• If steps 1, 2, 3, & 4 are satisfied Tiger-Rock issues a “provisional” (temporary) rankgood for up to one year. Provisional rank is not considered a permanent rank.
Step Six
• The final “authenticated” rank is awarded by Tiger-Rock during the Honor Ceremonyduring the next World event after successful completion of steps 1 through 5 andcompleting a provisional time. Authenticated rank is considered a permanent rank.

9 Mile Symbolic Walk
During the 9 mile walk candidates are instructed to stop along the way to observe, record thoughts in a
notebook, practice I-X Awareness and forms. Candidates should refrain from talking or being distracted
during this walk. If someone accompanies the candidate they should walk a distance behind the
candidate and observe only.
Walking in nature can have many therapeutic benefits for the person walking and certainly has
commonality with Martial Arts. Walking promotes the health of the mind, the body and the spirit. Make
sure to plan your walk in advance and take precautions to insure a safe and enjoyable experience.
Practice dynamic I-X Awareness by experimenting with the rhythm of the step timed with my breath.
Compare 3/3, 3/4, 4/4, 4/5, 4/6, 5/5 and 5/6 in breaths and steps to out breaths and steps the 4/4 and
4/5 produced the best harmony of mind and body for my walk for the speed I was walking. The best
ratio will change if the pace of the walk changes.
Professional Trainer and 4th-8th Degree Candidates Journey Document This document summarizes and documents a candidate’s artistic journey and acquired knowledge
beginning at white belt to current.

• Candidates not promoted will be counseled on how to prepare for a future opportunity byTiger-Rock.
• The patch and title cannot be worn or claimed until the promotion is officially approvedby Tiger-Rock.
• Candidates can No Change during the physical test, but minor mistakes in a form will notnecessarily disqualify them for promotion nor will failure to break boards.
• Candidates performing non allowed material in their physical testing or failing to followthe physical test guide precisely may result in a No Change.

6th , 7th , & 8th PRE-TEST GUIDE
6th, 7th & 8th degree candidates need to pass a two hour pre-test evaluation to the standards ofTiger-Rock. The evaluation will include performing, explaining and demonstrating artistic skill,
traditional forms, traditional free style forms, conditioning, knowledge of Taekwondo,
understanding of Elements of Taekwondo and how they are applied, lifestyle of candidate, BMIand the candidate demonstrating willingness to support and promote the culture, members andmission of Tiger-Rock without hesitation. Candidates can take and repeat the pre-testevaluation until passing up to 7 days before the physical exam. The pre-test is conducted by 8th and 9th degree black belts authorized in advance of the pre-test by Tiger-Rock. Contact theTiger-Rock office for a list of 8 th & 9th degrees authorized.

TRAINER EXAM
STEP ONE
Three judges preside over the exam with one judge serving as the panel leader. The panel
leader distributes the standardized Tiger-Rock Trainer exam judging sheet to be used during
the exam and is responsible for recording and reporting the panel’s decisions to Tiger-Rock. It
is important that each judge completes their own final results without being influenced by the
other judges. Judges should not discuss their scores with other judges.
STEP TWO
Panel administers the oral exam by asking the candidate to explain the following questions.
The time allotted for this portion of the exam is 10 minutes. Record the performance on the
exam judging sheet.

STEP THREE
The candidate teaches a 20 minute class to two students using a tactical or competition planner
to one of the core member groups. The segments in the sample class should be abbreviated to
fit the twenty minute time frame with the exception of the I-X Nutrition segment. Carefully
listen and watch the testing candidate and mark off the areas of evaluation with either
Satisfactory or Not Satisfactory as the candidate covers them.

Certified Taekwondo Trainers (CTT) are tested nationally. It is not required to be
a TTT before testing for CTT. Minimum teaching hours are not required before
taking any designation exam.

HIGH RANK TESTING EXAM
STEP ONE

the standardized TR high rank exam judging sheet to be used during the exam and is responsible for recording
and reporting the panel’s decisions to Tiger-Rock. It is important that each judge completes their own final
results without being influenced by the other judges. Judges should not discuss their scores with the other judges.
STEP TWO
The panel should conduct the testing using the test guide directive exactly. Do not increase or decrease the
requirements. Keep in mind that few students will advance to 4th & 5th degree and even fewer to 6th degree
and above rank. 4th and 5th degree promotions require an extremely high level of conditioning and athletic
skill. Consideration will be given for some types of performance challenges such as asthma, however all
candidates will be required to perform to the same level.
There are four options after 3rd degree. It is at this time the member should choose their path knowing that
Tiger-Rock has raised the bar significantly for rank promotions.
1. Professional Trainer
2. Rank advancement and Competitor
3. Rank advancement, Competitor and Professional Trainer
4. Maintenance: Maintain existing skills, fitness and health without competition or rank
advancement
ACADEMY, NATIONAL AND WORLD JUDGING SYSTEM
There will be one Mistake judge for every one or two students on the mat to watch for form, one steps, board
break and E-CAS mistakes. Mistake judges will not normally participate in determining Pass or NC but may.
They will serve to identify mistakes for the Artistic Panel judges.
Each judging panel will consist of 3 artistic judges only. These judges (along with the student’s ProfessionalTrainer) will determine Pass or No Change.
If the testing student’s Professional Trainer is on the testing panel of 3 judges as a Judge, the student must
receive a total of two yes votes to pass that includes theirs.
If the testing student’s Professional Trainer is not on testing panel as a Judge, the student must receive a total
of one or more yes votes to pass. One or more votes added to the Professional Trainer’s vote results in a
pass. In all cases if boards are not broken, an automatic No Change is recorded.
ACADEMY, NATIONAL AND WORLD TESTING SET-UP DESIGN
The judges' table(s) should be placed so that there is an area of at least approx. 10' x 20' (this may be
adjusted to add testing panels) in front of the table(s), and table(s) covered with table cloth(s).
The senior panel judge sits at the center or front left corner of the table, flanked by the next highest certified
professional trainers.
Each 3 member artistic judge panel should be seated separate from mistake judges so that it is obvious who is
judging.
Judges should wear their Professional Trainer Belt during testing.

Honors, Leadership, and Professional Trainer ProgramsTiger-Rock MAI has three programs designed to sustain the interest of students who are and want to beinvolved in Taekwondo beyond normal programming. They are:
1. Honors: Junior 6 to 112. Leadership: Youth 12 to 15
3. Trainer Professionals: Adult 16 & up
Adult Trainer Professionals Program (16 and up)The primary purpose of the Trainer Professionals Program is to develop qualified trainers who can representand deliver Tiger-Rock programs with quality. Tiger-Rock MAI is dedicated to maintaining the integrity of itsdocumented training systems and training practices while providing the highest degree of ethical and legalsafety. In recognition of a balanced approach to achieving our stated goals, Tiger-Rock MAI has created thefollowing five professional designations. Each of the 5 professional designations can be earned independentlyof the others although many will earn the trainee designation first. One chevron is worn on the uniform sleevefor each of the designations earned along with one chevron on the trainer belt for each. (If a trainer is a TTTthey would wear one chevron and once they become a CTT they would wear two chevrons). To createdifferentiation we have created a system of three types of belts:
1. Trainer Belt: designates the position of the person leading the training session. This person regardlessof rank of trainer has sufficient skill to lead a session for any level of participant.
2. Competitor or Competitive Belt: designates someone who is seeking rank and/or is competing inchampionships.
3. Master Belt: designates someone who has achieved 6th degree or higher
It is important to note that Professional Trainer Belts are worn whenever teaching or judging. Competitivebelts are worn when attending class, clinics, ceremonies and participating in championships.
Professional Trainer Designations
Note: There are no minimum time or class teaching requirements for any designation. A candidate does notfirst have to be TTT but rather can test directly to CTT.

• Certificate expires December 31st of year earned. Renewal fee and requirements are set by Tiger-

Certified Taekwondo Trainer (CTT) A Certified Taekwondo Trainer has passed the CTT exam and is qualified to deliver the core product to brandstandards. Open to all levels of Black Belt 16 years of age and up.

This designation is achieved through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) in cooperation with Tiger-RockMAI. Holders of this certificate will be able to deliver the Tiger-Rock product at a superior level and train
members from a broad fitness based foundation. Certificate must be renewed every 2 years with ACE and TR.
Certified Black Belt Trainer (CBBT)This designation is achieved by training 200 or more members to black belt in a career in academies owned bythe trainer franchisee. Holders of this designation have demonstrated the ability to retain Black Belt studentsover an extended period of time using the Tiger-Rock system. Certificate is good for 4 years. Documentationof black belts trained and passing a written test is required to earn this designation. Renewal requires earningCEU credit every 4 years.

Certified Integrated Systems Expert (CISE)This designation is earned by franchisees and/or managers who have become experts of the Tiger-Rockintegrated Systems under the overall National Brand design. Certification is issued by Tiger-Rock after acomprehensive review of the individual’s knowledge and documented performance. Certificate is good for 4years. Documentation of black belts trained and passing a written test is required to earn this designation.Renewal requires earning CEU credit every 4 years.
Options for earning World Championships/Training Event Credits:
Option 1: Attend a Scheduled World event as designed from beginning to end, compete, attend all
seminars/clinics and judge.
• Register online and pay World Championships, Seminars and Training Event fee.
Option 2: Attend 4 of 6 World and/or National Championships in two years from beginning to end, compete,
attend clinics, attend seminars and judge.
• Register online and pay World Championships and Training Event Credit fees for competitions and
seminars plus 15%.
• Two additional community service days.
• Read a book assigned to you by Tiger-Rock and write a 1,000 word report on the connection betweenthe subject matter and the Tiger-Rock core products.
Note: All options require fees that must be paid directly to Tiger-Rock MAI. Registration for trainings must be
made with Tiger-Rock MAI only. One day volunteer service is defined as approximately 5 or more hours of
service. Community service credit can be earned through participating in your academy-organized local
volunteer community service project approved by Tiger-Rock MAI; by participating in your personal community
service project; by leading an operational academy TKD Scholarship program with at least 3 or more enrolled
scholarship students; or participating in our annual Make-A-Difference program.
Franchisee Additional per location and per territory requirement
Each calendar year, you, or your manager level adult staff member who you designate (who holds a valid
TIGER-ROCK MARTIAL ARTS Certified Taekwondo Trainer Certificate) must earn at least one World
Championship/Training Event and training event credit.
On-Time Designation Renewal
Between May 1 and December 31 of any given year, Trainers must renew their Tiger-Rock MAI trainer
certificates. If an Trainer fails to complete their requirements by December 31st of any given year, the
certificate is terminated and reinstatement is required.

Reinstatement of TTT or CTT Certificates - Expired CPT, CBBT & CISE Certificates do
not qualify for reinstatement.
If terminated:
• Contact National Offices by January 15th. If Tiger-Rock MAI determines trainer agrees to re-
instate by March 31st and to follow the process of re-instatement trainer can leave chevrons on
their uniform and belt. If not they will be instructed to remove all chevrons and disqualified from
teaching classes under the expired Tiger-Rock certificate.
• Candidates who agree to comply with the process will have until March 31st to complete the
process and will be issued a conditional extension until March 31st.

TTT & CTT Renewal Recommendations
To renew your Professional Taekwondo Trainer Designations, it is suggested that you obtain the
recommendation of your Professional trainer(s). A signature on this form is not required but it is
recommended for you to list the professional trainer(s)’ name and the day the recommendation wasgiven to you either electronically or verbally. Lack of a recommendation may not necessarily disqualify
you from renewing your certificate.
Note: Your professional trainer is the primary trainer you currently choose to supervise your training and
any past professional trainers you have considered to be your primary professional trainer. Your
professional trainer normally is not a family member or friend and must be an adult of higher rank. Only
one recommendation is required but it is encouraged to include all current and former primary
professional trainers. TRMAI will collectively consider your compliance with national standards along with
your recommendation(s) before issuing renewal certificates. Professional trainers can change and are
determined by the member.
Miscellaneous
• Do not submit applications of any type until credit requirements, if any, are earned.
• If certification has lapsed for any period of time, 1 day or 10 years, the former trainer is
considered terminated.
• A list of terminated and active trainers will be posted online annually.

Junior Honors Program (6 to 11)
The primary purpose for a Juniors Honors Program is to create a platform which students can
display and apply their skills at a higher level. This is intended for enthusiasts ages 6-11 but
more specifically, those who are mature enough to demonstrate a high level of competency.
The following are requirements for the Juniors Honors Program:
1. Full participation in the Merit program using the lifestyle journal.
2. Full participation in the Championship program, 1 or more championships annually.
3. Optional participation as a youth class assistant with no more than 1 class weekly.
4. Shoulder chevron is placed under their rank patch.
Youth Leadership Program (12 to 15)
The primary purpose for a Youth Leadership Program is to create an opportunity for students to
develop the skills necessary for leading a group. This program is intended for enthusiasts ages
12-15 who demonstrate exceptional skills. The following are requirements for the Youth
Leadership Program:
1. Full participation in the Championship program, 2 or more championships annually.
2. Full participation as a youth class assistant 1 or 2 classes weekly.
3. Optional participation in the Merit Program using the lifestyle journal.
4. Shoulder chevron is placed under their rank patch.
Note: A “youth class assistant” is a student who assists the Trainer staff with logistical support
with all aspects of class.

Champion Titles and Belt Patch
Students must pick and wear a National or a World belt patch for a calendar year, not both on
the belt. Champion belt patch are to be worn for the calendar year following the year it was
earned in. For example, a title earned during 2011 would allow students to wear that title beltpatch during 2012.

If you are testing or retesting for a Professional Trainer, check-in will be completed onsite. Registrationwill be online only. All check-ins will be held onsite. All copies must have been made in advance.
