Legnoluce has beenoperating in the Italianmarket for over 15 yearsand specializes inmanufacturing outdoorfurnishings using naturalmaterials such as BlackLocust, Acacia, Teak, Pine,Spruce and Larch.

Legnoluce collections arethe unique fruits of acompany that combines lovefor nature with designresearch, careful use ofmaterials, innovation inmanufacturing and assemblytechniques, and attentivecustomer service. The key toour design solutions is aninterlocking system thatreduces to a minimum theuse of hardware, allowing aquick, easy, and perfectlystable assembly, thanks tothe high degree of precisionin the fabrication of thevarious components.

This system allows you tofurnish any green area incomplete freedom. We offer afull range of productscontinually updated: woodengarden furnishings with alarge selection of tables,chairs, and armchairs; avariety of gazebos designedto satisfy the most diverseneeds; lamps for gardens andparks, wooden tiles,carports, pergolas, gardenhouses, and swimming pools.For years now our companyhas been involved inmanufacturing modularelements using the “blockhaus” system for pre-fabricated houses, sportsand recreational structures.Legnoluce offers custommade solutions designed incollaboration witharchitects.

Legnoluce uses exclusively high qualitywoods, selected and treated usingecologically sound processes in fullrespect of nature and human health.We manufacture our furnishings in Pine andFir – Nordic woods weatherproof by nature– cut to their final shape and dried,followed by a pressure treatment thatinsures protection against insectinfestations, and all fungal infestations,including those that cause rot. Thistreatment consists of immersing the wood in a saline solution inside an autoclave that,in a process of alternating vacuum andpressure, allows the wood cells to openand better absorb the saturating solution.

Highest QualityAll Legnoluce outdoor furnishings complywith the strictest international qualitystandards: DIN 68800 and Uni 8859.For certain products Legnoluce hasacquired the sought after FSCcertification.The mark of the Forest Steward Council(FSC) indicates that the wood used tomanufacture the products comes fromforests appropriately managed by ForestryDepartments throughout the world, inaccordance with strict environmental,social, and economic standards. The forestsfrom which the wood originates have beenindependently controlled by the ForestStewardship Council.The FSC is an international non-profitassociation whose membership includessocial and environmental groups, timberharvesting and milling industries, and woodproducts manufacturing and marketingindustries, that work together to improveforest management throughout the world.

The Black Locust tree(Robinia pseudo acacia) isnative to North America andthe name is derived from acourt gardener, Jean Robin,who introduced it in Franceat the beginning of the1600s as an ornamentalplant for the beauty of itsflowers, while the term“pseudo Acacia” indicatesits similarity to Acacia. Black Locust and Acaciagrow in different areas.Acacia is widespread inSouth America, Africa,Southern Asia andAustralia, while the BlackLocust grows preferably atthe northernmost latitudes.

In Eastern Europe the Black Locust iscurrently in third place on the list ofgrown hardwoods. It grows quickly and itis easy to plant, making it the idealalternative to exotic and tropical woods.Black Locust wood has a characteristicyellow colour and distinct rings. It is veryheavy and hard, but at the same time, solid,elastic and easy to work with

Its most interesting characteristic is itsdurability, since it is naturally resistant tofungi and parasites. This makes BlackLocust the only European wood foroutdoor use in its natural state, withoutthe aid of impregnating chemicals.

Legnoluce chose this wood to build theirgarden furniture and their choice hasproven successful. It is the perfectcombination of aesthetics, quality, andrespect for the environment. The BlackLocust selected by Legnoluce is harvestedin European forests controlled byForestry Departments.

The Black Locust is considered one of thefinest European woods comparable, if notsuperior, to many African, Asiatic andSouth American woods. The Black Locust furniture manufacturedby Legnoluce are an ethical choice aimedat preserving our planet’s naturalbalance, thanks to its great reproductivecapacity and speed of growth as opposedto exotic, slow growing woods.

Sweet Home

After the experience gained bythe implementation of the villageFriuli a Provvidenti in the post-earthquake emergency in Moliseand Maracay (Aragua) in Venezuela,where a village with Sweet Homehouses was built on commissionfrom the Venezuelan Navy, Legnoluce has, in collaborationwith D.D.L. Srl. Citta Sant’Angelo,constructed 216 housing unitsin record time, a few monthsafter the earthquake that struckthe Abruzzo region in 2009.

The structures are real two-storybuildings made entirely of woodusing Block Haus technology,and are divided into apartmentsof various sizes of 40, 50 and

70 m2. The temporary housingmodules were built on behalfof the Italian Civil Protectionin the town of L�Aquila andmore precisely in Pianola,Bagno Piccolo, Bazzano and Pescomaggiore and are allequipped with kitchen, livingroom and one/two or three bedrooms depending on thesquare footage of the accom-modation.

This success is the confirmationof the absolute quality offeredby Legnoluce and it is the naturalconsequence of love and passionfor wood and its peculiaritythat characterizes our companyphilosophy.

Regulations and maintenancetips for housesFor the construction of certain buildingssome municipalities require a buildingpermit or a declaration of start ofactivity (DIA).This technical documentation is notincluded in delivery of the product,and if required by the Technical Officeof the competent municipality, it mustbe prepared by a qualified technicianon site on behalf of the purchaser. The technician must also assess whetherthe maximum load for this article iscompatible with the load required bythe regulations for the installationarea. All houses are supplied in kit form,accompanied by instructions, technicaldata, and associated hardware. Forall information regarding the installationof the houses, please contact ourdealer who will advise and assist you.

The baseFor a successful installation we suggestthe building of a perfectly leveledand drained foundation. The concretebase must be raised from the groundby at least 10 cm. The ideal size of thebase are shown in the house´ technicaldocumentation and are about 5-10 mmless than the outer surface of thehouse (excluding the Block Hausjoints that protrude 10 cm per side).This will allow the rainwater that fallsalong the walls not stagnate in the pointof contact between the concrete baseand the lower matchboard. To preventthehouse being damaged in case of particularlyunfavorable wind conditions it isadvisable to anchor the structure tothe ground effectively.

Recommendations for proper mainte-nanceThe houses are built of timber fromNordic spruce that has not been pre-treated. This type of wood mustreceive a protective treatment to ensure a long life. You should notuse paints for wood, but rather useimpregnating products and moistureregulators readily available in hobbyshops. Perform a preventive treatmentbefore assembly of grooves andjoints, then mount the house beforemaking a final overall treatment. It ispreferable to repeat the treatmentto protect the wood every two or threeyears to ensure proper preservationof the structure, with particular attention to areas exposed to weatherand sunlight. We recommend the installation of gutters to drain rainwater (and also for its eventual recovery), which otherwise may wetthe side walls. In case of snow, youshould always remove the snow fromthe roof of the house, in order toavoid damage to the structure.

CE MARKING (DIR 89/106/EEC) In 2011 the company has received thecertification to CE mark the solidwood elements for structural usewhich are the basis for the realizationof the products exhibited in the catalogs.Legnoluce has also obtained the qualification from the Ministry of Infrastructure and production activitiesfor the processing of wood-basedproducts, that are used for the production of the products displayedin the catalogs.

Quality of materialsWood is a raw material of plant originderived from biological organisms.The habitats in which these organismsare born and grow is totally natural,and therefore subject to the infinitevariables of nature: seasons, weather,etc.Large and small knots (they are thecross section of the branches incorporated into the tissue of the stem)may be present and are considered typical of all wood species. Over timethey can create slight leakage of resin.The resin is a healing substance produced by the tree during growthto protect the ligneous fabric. Thiscontent can sometimes escape in theform of droplets that crystallizewith time.There may also be portions of thestructures elements that have partswith marked differences in color,this happens when you have fiberswith different wood density and/ordifferent sections of wood. These eventsare typical of some wood species andcan not be avoided due to the inherentnature of wood itself. The wood issubject to the presence of shrinkagecracks due to the technological characteristic of hygroscopicity. Because of this aspect, if the moisturecontent of the environment is differentfrom that of the wooden element, itwill tend to get in balance and thusperform dimensional and geometricmovements.For the production of houses (MADEIN ITALY) we use Nordic spruce (Swe-dish and Finnish), a dense wood with aclear and fine grain, with small, tiedknots, that has not undergone anytreatment. The solid structuralwood or the wood-based products(matchboards on the walls and roofbeams) used for the construction ofhouses are all CE marked accordingto the harmonized standards:

EN 14081-1 Timber structures –Strength graded structural timberwith rectangular cross section(beams, joists, boards and planks).EN 14080 Timber structures – Gluedlaminated timber and glued solid tim-ber (laminated wood).EN 14915 Solid wood panelling andcladding (matchboards).

Swimming Pools Swimming pools must always be anchoredto the ground through a reinforcedconcrete foundation in which the metalframe of the swimming pool must besecured. The pools have live electrical parts thatmust be installed by specialized technicians. The pools can be installed above-groundas well as partially in-ground. Legnoluce SpA shall not be responsiblefor any incorrect use, assembly, orinstallation of the products sold, norfor any post-manufacturing changes andmodifications performed by a third party.
