I am profoundly deaf in both ears since the age of nine months old. However, it has never stopped me from accomplishing anything. Growing up, I volunteered for events that were related to deafness culture. I graduated from Ralston High School from Ralston Nebraska in 2008. I am currently a fourth year student in Architecture at University of Nebraska at Lincoln.

I really enjoy the architectural process especially the graphic representation of design intent, schemes and layouts. I ran track at the University of Nebraska for four years; Winning the 2009 Big 12 400m Hurdles and selected to the 2011 COSIDA Capital One NCAA D1 Academic All-America Team. My passion is creating spaces for those with multiple needs, like disabilities. I aim for integration of these features. Born with a vision impairment, I have found this purpose. Amidst having this impairment, I have gained a strong work ethic and take pride in my work. I accept who I am as a person, knowing that I bring a diff erent view of how and what should be in a design.

The Grand Confort chair, studied, explores the relationship between frame and component to create a chair for one individual. The new chair explores these principles with the use of the existing stair railing as the frame and structure for the wall that serves as a frame for the chair, which is also articulated as another component piece. All of these components slide through voids in the frame and vice versa. The chair is attached to an existing railing on a set of stairs leading down into the southwest area of the Sheldon sculpture garden.
