Wilderness Ridge was founded in 1987 by a group ofChristian men who wanted to give boys an exceptional
camping experience at an affordable price. An experience thatwould introduce them to Jesus Christ, as well as show andteach them how to be Godly men in todays world. Seven
acres in the Lost Pines Forest were purchased near SmithvilleTexas. Over the years, the camp has grown to our present 95acres where we continue to keep the legacy of affordable,
Christ-centered wilderness camping for boys and men alive.
The Bastrop Complex Wildfires, September 4 - 6, burned 24 ofthe 26 structures to the ground plus our high/low ropescourses and archery and rifle ranges. The CWR Board of
Directors has unanimously and enthusiastically re-affirmedour commitment to the mission and ministry of Camp
Wilderness Ridge: Low Cost, Christ Centered Camping forMen and Boys. We have committed ourselves to moving
forward in restoring the camps ability to operate thesummer camp programs and to facilitate the
programs of our guest churches.

The Journey Be REAL!Dear Parent,
Your son will experience Gods natural world at Wilderness Ridge! It is our desire to encourage campers to live a REAL life in Jesus Christ. REAis an acrostic for
Reproducing Other Disciples
Then Jesus came to them and said, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the nameof the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of theage. (Matthew 28:18-20)
Esteeming God Above AllLove the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. (Mark 12:30)
Announcing the Good NewsHe told them, This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his
name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. (Luke 24:46-47)
Living for Others
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. (Mark 10:45)
We are teaching, through example and experiences, how to resist the notion of self-centeredness that is evident in todays modern culture. To do
Jesus did: For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. (Mark 10:45)We intertwine a Christ-likeness perspective, attitude, and approach to life in everything we do during the camp week. Its a fast-paced outdoadventure with activities designed to teach teamwork, servanthood, and trust. Rope Course challenges, Leadership/Teamwork Challenges, and eveCabin Clean-up are just a few examples of Biblical manhood that your son will experience. Your son will actively engage with hands-on opportunitito solve problems, make decisions, use his imagination, and participate in safe and controlled risk-taking experiences.
We continue to lead boys to Christ Jesus...helping them face The Journey. The Journey begins when Christ Jesus becomes the Lord of a personlife.
Wilderness Ridge is located west of Smithville, Texas, among the tall pine trees of the Lost Pines Forest, in Gods incredible creation! We are exciteabout partnering with you to encourage your boys and young men on their spiritual journey.

FAQsHow does my son request a specific cabin mate?He may request up to two cabin mates of the same age range on the registration form. The requestbe made in advance, and with mutual consent of both parties. Parents Note: Please consider that if your son is with the same friends he is with all the time, he may nfeel the freedom to be himself. Also, groups of three or more buddies tend to alienate other cabin mates.
How do I communicate with my son while hes at camp?Campers enjoy getting letters and cards in the mail while at camp. In addition, we providefree e-mail service for you to send email to your son during his week but communication is only one-way and he will not be able to respond. Please, no phone calls tyour camper. Even the most content camper will feel a sense of homesickness after a phone call from home. In the event of an emergency, please call the Camp Offic
512-237-4222.
Can I send a care package to my son?Certainly, campers love getting something from home, but remember hes only here a week. Please DO NOT sendfood, drinks, fireworks, candy, or silly string. We appreciate your help as food or drinks are not al lowed in cabins because they draw critters and ants. You are welcomleave a care-package in the camp office at the time of drop off. We will be happy to deliver it to him mid-week! While campers do enjoy letters, please be aware that
much detail can create homesickness. Keep them short and positive!
What about my sons spending money? This years camp price already includes a daily afternoon Canteen snack (Gatorade, a candy, and a salty item).
What should my son pack for camp?A detailed list is available at our website: www.wildernessridge.com. If you do not have Internet access, then call us request a copy to be mailed to you. What will you be sharing with my child in your Bible messages and quiet times? At least once during the week we will present the Gospel, which means that we with campers that God loves us and wants a relationship with us (John 3: 16), we are all sinners (Romans 3: 23), Jesus came to save us from our sins, (1 Timothy 1:15), all we have to do to be saved from our sins is to put our trust in Jesus Christ (Romans 10: 9).
