Albert de Klerk was one of most famous Dutch composers ofchoral- and organmusic. The compositions of this gifted mandeserve to be performed well beyond the Dutch borders. DeKlerk was, together with Jan Mul and Herman Strategier, one ofHendrik Andriessen’s Trium Puerorum. These four names arehighly appreciated in the Dutch choral- and churchmusic. DeKlerk was the last of this still popular generation.In 1997 he was awarded the AGEC Choral Prize for his completeworks. For this occasion he wrote this Ave Maria, his presumablylast choral work.
