Principal's Message Schooling in the modern era has a multiple agenda- development of the intellect, transmission of culture from generation to generation and promotion of economic progress.
We at Vidyashram have geared our educational structure towards the attainment of these goals. A plethora of activities are conducted to accomplish these goals, which not only develop appropriate skills in children but also lead to a healthy all round development of their personality. This entire process aims not only at the embellishment of personality, but also at strengthening and steeling the moral fibre which is at the root of all human development. In this way we are able to keep the torch of Indian values, culture and heritage, ablaze.
The following students made the school proud by securing a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 10 in all five subjects in the CBSE All India Secondary School Examination 2012.

Our Teachers as Resource PersonsA team of six teachers went to our Pratap Nagar branch to train the teachers there in the CCE Pattern of Examination. The resource persons from our school were Smt. Meena Singh, Smt. Arti Sharma, Smt. Rekha Sen, Shri Pradeep Ranwka, Dr. Usha Dashora and Dr. Deepali Pradhan.
The Blueberry Story“If I ran my business the way you people operate your schools, I wouldn’t be in business very long!”
I stood before an auditorium filled with outraged teachers who were becoming angrier by the minute. My speech had
entirely consumed their precious 90 minutes of inservice. Their initial icy glares had turned to restless agitation. You
could cut the hostility with a knife.
I represented a group of business people dedicated to improving public schools. I was an executive at an ice cream
company that became famous in the middle1980s when People Magazine chose our blueberry as the “Best Ice Cream
in America.”
I was convinced of two things. First, public schools needed to change; they were archaic selecting and sorting
mechanisms designed for the industrial age and out of step with the needs of our emerging “knowledge society”.
Second, educators were a major part of the problem: they resisted change, hunkered down in their feathered nests,
protected by tenure and shielded by a bureaucratic monopoly. They needed to look to business. We knew how to
produce quality. Zero defects! TQM! Continuous improvement!
In retrospect, the speech was perfectly balanced - equal parts ignorance and arrogance.
As soon as I finished, a woman’s hand shot up. She appeared polite, pleasant – she was, in fact, a razor-edged, veteran,
high school English teacher who had been waiting to unload.
She began quietly, “We are told, sir, that you manage a company that makes good ice cream.”
I smugly replied, “Best ice cream in America, Ma’am.”
“How nice,” she said. “Is it rich and smooth?”
“Sixteen percent butterfat,” I crowed.
“Premium ingredients?” she inquired.
“Super-premium! Nothing but triple A.” I was on a roll. I never saw the next line coming.
“Mr. Vollmer,” she said, leaning forward with a wicked eyebrow raised to the sky, “when you are standing on your
receiving dock and you see an inferior shipment of blueberries arrive, what do you do?”
In the silence of that room, I could hear the trap snap…. I was dead meat, but I wasn’t going to lie.
“I send them back.”
“That’s right!” she barked, “and we can never send back our blueberries. We take them big, small, rich, poor, gifted,
exceptional, abused, frightened, confident, homeless, rude, and brilliant. We take them with ADHD, junior
rheumatoid arthritis, and English as their second language. We take them all! Every one! And that, Mr. Vollmer, is why
it’s not a business. It’s school!”
In an explosion, all 290 teachers, principals, bus drivers, aides, custodians and secretaries jumped to their feet and
yelled, “Yeah! Blueberries! Blueberries!”
Needless to say I was more than humbled by the experience.

A Good Teacher Teaches From The Heart Not From The Book

August
Raksha Bandhan and Janmashtami were celebrated with full gusto. Children danced merrily to celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna. To mark the celebration of Independence Day children participated in Tearing and Pasting Competition. UKG children also gave a foot tapping performance on a Patriotic song. August was the most appropriate month to make Balwadi green. On Balwadi Plantation Day children sowed seeds and brought potted plants to School. The process of Germination was demonstrated and green colour week was also observed.
September
A massive 'Anti Junk food' campaign was carried out in Balwadi in the first week of September. Importance of healthy food was explained to children through Placards, Role Plays and Worksheets. The children were told the hazards of eating unhealthy food and they also learnt to make healthy food like whole wheat cheese sandwiches and fresh lemonade. On September 21 2012, First Aid boxes were made in the classes where each child contributed by bringing various first aid items like band aids , antiseptic ointments etc. The method of giving First Aid was also shown to the children. To get rid of stage fear, children participated in Solo and Group Hindi Recitation Competition. The memorizing power and the overall effort of the children was worth appreciating.
April
The month of April witnessed a wave of fresh breeze when the 3 year old toddlers of LKG came to School for the first time .They were welcomed by their teachers with a warm smile and tilak. To familiarize them with their School Campus the children went for a walk with the teachers and visited the School Medical Room, Computer Room, Library, Book Store, Temple and Auditorium. Concept of red colour was reinforced through various activities like 'Vegetable Printing' and 'Tearing and Pasting'. The little ones were overjoyed to watch the movie 'Hanuman' with their friends in the auditorium.
July
Language development was promoted through the Book Bank Activity wherein a book bank was created in each class. The children love to read these books in their free time. The importance of a family was effectively depicted by a role play performed by teachers in the assembly. However the highpoint of July was the Magic Show where the children were mesmerized by the magical tricks of the magician. During the blue colour week children brought their favourite blue colour article and spoke a few lines on it. In Solo Dance Competition the toddlers gave energetic performances. Their expressions, footsteps and movements were worth appreciating. To beat the heat the children enjoyed splashing in water in the School's Toddler pool.
BALWADI
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
Children You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
