How many courses do I have to take?
All LW students must take 6 classes each semester (1 free)
Maximum of 7 classes each semester
HOW DO I DECIDE ABOUT THE COURSES I WANT TO SIGN UP FOR?

Talk to your teachers, advisors, administrators, and parents (* Don’t just talk to friends!)
Use online tools: Course catalog, academic advising guidebook, resource handouts
Extra sign-up forms available online

Two Things to Remember:
One student’s exception can be another student’s exclusion.
There is no game to course sign-ups. Your preferences (ranks) are what will be used to make your schedule.

Advantages:1. Students get their schedules for the entire
year. 2. 4 day add/drop period both semesters3. Fewer changes to yearlong courses4. Increased opportunities for 1st choice
electives.
GOALS OF SCHEDULING FOR 10TH GRADE
Goal is to get students as many first choices as possible within 6 classes
Soph. Tech Arts priority to fulfill requirement
Ranking required number of choices is important for scheduling flexibility
If you don’t rank total number of choices this does NOT help you to get your first choice (* remember: there are no games!)

THINGS TO KNOW…MATH
1. Select your NEXT APPROPRIATE course, not your aspirational course. Check in with your current math teacher about your placement for next year.
2. If you plan to do summer work, you MUST check the box on the form and check in with Ms. Boitano or there may not be a spot for you in your intended course for next year.

2. If you plan to sign up for an honors/accelerated course, read the “WL Honors” criteria online and see your CURRENT teacher on March 28th for a signature

Journalism is now yearlong. The class is (as usual) open to
10th graders.

PEER COUNSELING…
Sign up by checking box on your form. You can do peer counseling even if you have 7 classes. Peer counseling is not a class for a grade or credit but is an excellent opportunity!

Course sign up forms due on Thursday April 5th.
Course sign up forms will not be processed without medical form due on April 5th.
Schedules available online, 6/30
Add/drop period, first rotation of classes in the fall and spring for 4 days. Same priorities apply from scheduling process.

Minimum of 6 classes required 7 class maximum Teacher/block selection= not possible All changes wait until add/drop to be fair to

THERE ARE NO GAMES… preferences should be authentic because there is no
