I am a confident person who believes in giving the best, whether at work or in my personal life. My diverse background and knowledge makes me an ideal executive.

Your greatest career achievement? Forgoing a career in an MNC for a

full scholarship for my masters program at Stanford University, USA.

Studying with the top students from all over the world at one of the best

universities was a priceless experience. It helped me in knowledge

enrichment, as well as valuable cross-cultural experience.

Most inspiring corporate hero? The fictional character Jerry Maguire

from the movie. What I like the most about him is the confidence and the

self-belief he showed under stress. Even after losing the job, he didn’t give

up and started his own company with just one client. I personally like the

scene “Show me the money”, which summarises the corporate world.

The best career advice given? “Anyone can row a boat when the river

is calm, what makes one different is the ability to steer the boat

smoothly to the destination when the river is turbulent”. I always keep

this at the back of my mind and this gives me courage to do better

while facing difficulties. I take the difficulties as challenges and try to

give my best to bring the things back to normal and

achieve the target even under unfavourable

situations.

Greatest challenge in your life? Choosing

between being financially independent with an

MNC or studying at Standford University. After

alot of thinking, I decided to go for higher

studies as it was going to help me in the longer

run. I am happy with my decision.

Favourite hobbies/interests? I like travelling and

exploring new places. I have a group of friends form

different nations. Every year we visit one country and

try to explore more of its culture and history with our native friend. I may not look like it but I love salsa dancing.

Why should you win? I am a confident person who believes in giving the best, whether at work or in my personal life. My diverse

background and knowledge makes me an ideal executive.

3 words that sum you up? Unflappable, confident and adaptable.

Your greatest career achievement?

Seizing the opportunity to work in both

Hong Kong and Sydney under the age of 23.

Most inspiring corporate hero? I am very

inspired by Mark Zuckerberg, founder of

Facebook. He has single-handedly (almost)

revolutionised how we communicate and he

represents the spirit of believing in an idea

even when everyone else is oblivious to it.

As I am in the industry of news and

information, I am motivated to think of

ideas on both career and personal levels and

Mark Zuckerberg is a reminder that no one

can impose onto you the boundaries to what

you can achieve.

The best career advice given? Don’t

underestimate the task you are about to

undertake so that you will always exceed

expectations.

Greatest challenge in your life? It

always seems that life’s challenges seem

to shrink when pondered in retrospect! I

remember I had to constantly battle with

myself to believe in my own abilities

and strengths. The belief that I could

not ‘make it’ in life simply because I

wasn’t the ‘academic type’ was deeply

ingrained in me. So my greatest

challenge was truly believing in my

choices in life. Believing that sometimes

going against the flow can be a good

thing; even when everyone disapproves

and you are alone in your choices.

However, with every mountain

conquered, there’ll always be the need

for another higher mountain to challenge

it. So I would say my biggest challenge

right now is juggling work, family, love, studies, friends and my own needs.

Favourite hobbies/interests? I always try to do as much as I can outside of work. I practise Bikram Yoga (Hot Yoga) to

help me renew my mind and body. Because I used to act in plays and films, I am always seeking good films and music. I

would also gladly ice-skate with a couple of friends, dabble in some amateur DJ-ing, rock climb with friends, salsa the

night away… anything that I can have a good time with!

Why should you win? This competition is really about who you are. I think I am able to live and breathe the tag,

“Shine beyond your

office walls”. Apart

from what I do, I

want to show

readers that not

everyone needs to fit into the typical ‘mould’ to have a happy life that is successful

in your own right. Who says you need to be old enough to understand certain

things, or have a degree to understand business? Do you need to strive for the

traditional professions that are ‘highly regarded’? Life is about more than being

good at your work, it’s also about being an enjoyable person to be around, giving

back to community, living life to the fullest, and I think I embody this belief.

3 words that sum you up? Fervent, sincere and interested.
