national Institute for Metalworking standards (nIMs) CredentialRock Valley College now offers credentialing in various topic areas forCNCmachiniststhroughtheNationalInstituteforMetalworkingStandards(NIMS).TheNIMScredentialisanationallyrecognizedperformance based certification. Students registering for the CNC Setup and Operation courses may elect to be certified while taking the courses. This credential is available for students who have previously finished the CNC Setup and Operation courses, or those who have previously attended RVC, CNC courses or any current CNC machinist. StudentswishingtocompletetheNIMSMachiningLevel1credential(various topic areas) while attending the Automation Skills CNC courses, may purchase the certification package from the RVC book-store (see below). Register Early: Register early so you won’t be disappointed. Oftenclasses reach the maximum enrollment early. Also, classes dependon minimum enrollments. Classes with insufficient enrollmentwill be cancelled one week prior to start date. Don’t take achance. Your class may be cancelled.

Age Appropriate Guideline: Community Education classes aredesigned for students of all ages. Age guidelines are stated witheach class. Classes designated as ADULT are intended for students18 years and older. With INSTRUCTOR PERMISSION, high schoolstudents may attend adult classes. Students 16-17 years old may beadmitted to Continuing Education credit courses upon request fromthe chief executive officers (or designees) of the high school districtsin which the student resides. Out-of-District/Out-of-State Students: In addition to the regu-lar tuition and service fee, students residing outside District 511 will becharged out-of-district/state fees for credit courses. These additionalfees will be waived if a student living outside the district/state isemployed full-time within the district and able to present a letter fromthe employer testifying to that fact. Property owners paying taxes toDistrict 511 are also eligible for in-district rates. No out-of-district/statefees are charged for non-credit courses.
