Built in 1965 around the exi-sting 24-Hour track, the Le Mans Bugatti Grand Prix race circuit lies 5km south of the city of Le Mans and 200km south-west of Paris. The venue has hosted Grand Prix since the late sixties but a serious acci-dent to Spanish rider Alberto Puig in 1995 saw it struck off the calendar until 2000 whilst stringent safety improvements were carried out.

Elias - 11th: “We have been afraid about the warm up of the tyres because the track tempe-rature was colder compared to the practices but at the end it was not so bad. Our rear trac-tion problem is not solved yet but now I can see progressive improvements and I want to thank the team for their good work. When I was leading the small group in the back I thou-ght that I could catch Aoyama but suddenly I have suffered a bike shaking banging my feet on the fairing. My leather se-curity airbag activated and I could not ride properly for a couple of laps till it went down. After that I pushed to catch the group again but could not fi-nish in the top ten. Anyway it has been a positive week end and I hope to see a further im-provements at my home GP”.

Elias – 11°: “Eravamo un po’ preoccupati perché l’asfalto era più freddo rispetto alle prove e temevamo di non riuscire a scaldare abbastanza le gomme ma alla fine la situazione non era così male. Ci resta sempre il problema di trazione da risolve-re ma adesso vedo dei migliora-menti e questa progressione mi rende più sereno. Quando ero in testa al gruppetto ho pensato di poter prendere anche Aoyama lì davanti ma quell’imbarcata a metà gara mi ha spiazzato. Ho battuto il piede sulla care-na e l’airbag della tuta si è at-tivato: per quasi 2 giri non sono riuscito a guidare agilmente ma quando si èsgonfiato ho ripreso il mio rit-mo. Non sono riuscito a chiude-re nei primi dieci ma questo è stato un altro week end positivo e spero di vedere altri migliora-menti nel GP di casa mia”.

Le Mans, 15 May: In a thrilling 28-lap race LCR Honda Mo-toGP rider Toni Elias finished 11th in today’s French Grand Prix at a cloudy “24 heures cir-cuit du Mans” which saw Sto-ner taking his second victory. Toni Elias had a tough time in qualifying, ending yesterday afternoon’s session in 17th, al-beit only 2.280s down on pole position but the Spaniard took a good start from the last spot on the grid engaging a close battle with a 4-rider group.

At 15 laps to go, when he was leading the group, Elias had a small highside ban-ging his foot on the bike but he stayed on proceeding his positive race and gaining fur-ther 5 points in the world standing. Elias will return on track for his home GP in Ca-talunya on the 5th of June.

Le Mans, 15 May: il pilota del Team LCR Honda MotoGP Toni Elias ha concluso in 11° posizione il GP di Francia che si è svolto oggi sotto un cielo mi-naccioso sul circuito “24 Heures du Mans” che ha visto Stoner aggiudicarsi la seconda vittoria in sella alla Honda. Toni Elias ha sofferto un poco nelle quali-fiche di ieri terminando solo 17° ma senza perdersi d’animo è partito bene dall’ultima fila in-filandosi in una quartetto molto agguerrito.

A 15 giri dalla fine, quando Elias era in testa al gruppetto, la moto ha preso un’imbracata e lo Spagnolo ha urtato il pie-de sulla carena ma è rimasto saldamente in sella per finire la gara e portare a casa altri 5 punti nella classifica Mondia-le. Elisa sarà di nuovo in pista il prossimo 5 Giugno per il suo GP di casa a Montmeló (Cata-logna).

The last Grand Prix of France was a unique venue for ELF (a brand of Total Group) for its communication and marke-ting boost related to the Event Title Sponsor plan agreed with LCR Honda Team including the chance to organize a con-vivial meeting with several clients and the French media. On Saturday night the top of ELF management have prepa-red a dedicated technical tour and press conference inside

the LCR Honda garage intro-ducing the benefits of ELF products like the fuels and the lubricants used in the competi-tions. After that the guests have reached the Team Hospitality to join a relaxing event which included aperitif, dinner, “baby Foot” matches and further ple-asant moments of amusement.

Bridgestone and Dorna Sports have signed a new three-year deal that will see the Japanese manufacturer continue as the Official Tyre Supplier to the premier class of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) MotoGP World Championship from 2012-2014.

The new contract means that Bridgestone will continue to provide tyres and technical support to every team and rider on the premier class grid as the championship enters the new era of increased engine capacity, up from 800cc to 1000cc.

Already the Official Tyre Supplier to the premier class since 2009, Bridgestone has received positive sup-port from the riders, the FIM, Dorna, the Motorcycle Sports Manufacturers Association (MSMA) and the International Road Racing Teams Association (IRTA), all who have expressed a strong desire to continue the relationship.

Since entering the championship’s top category, then 500cc, in 2002, it took just two years for the first win on Bridgestone tyres. In 2009 Bridgestone was named the championship’s first Official Tyre Supplier, after just seven seasons of competition. As of the end of the 2010 season, four World Championship Titles, 70 Grand Prix victories and 197 podiums have been scored in the premier class using Bridgestone tyres.
