The 2011 Governor’s Technology Awards competition, presented by the Louisiana Technology Council and Louisiana Economic Development, is one of the ways we emphasize technology as the driving force behind the growth and diversification of the state’s economy. Developing a Culture of Innovation is a major component of Louisiana: Vision 2020. It focuses attention on technology across all industries such as medical and biotech, manufacturing, software, internet and telecommunications, advanced materials, and much more. Environmental, green and other emerging technologies are also helping to drive the technology industry in Louisiana. With this event, we are seeking unique and cutting edge technology applications, individuals and organizations that have made a difference in the State of Louisiana and across the United States. Technology Leader of the Year Award

The Technology Leader of the Year will be presented to an individual who has made a substantial contribution to the state’s technology sector over the past year. The contribution may be through research, work force development, job creation, scholarship, public awareness and/or entrepreneurial activity.

The Technology Company of the Year Award will go to a company that demonstrates corporate leadership through the innovation of its technology products or services, the sustained growth of its corporate assets and its dedication to community involvement. Technology should be the innovative energy fueling this emerging or expanding company.

Contributions may be through leadership in the area of technology transfer, or the commercialization of new technology; development of innovative processes and products; training the workforce that will provide the innovators of tomorrow; diversity of research, scholarship, and/or patent and license activity.
