WHO SHOULD ATTEND THE SYMPOSIUM?
� There are over 600,000 veterans in the state of Arizona� Arizona and the surrounding Southwest region has one of the highest concentrations of
OEF/OIF (Afghanistan/Iraq) veterans in the countryArizona is home to 5 active duty installations, Arizona National Guard armories and reserveunits of all branches of the service� Over 7000 National Guard troops from Arizona have deployed since 2001. Before, during and
after deployment, the families of these soldiers live in communities around the state
This event will be beneficial to all those in the military, government and communitywith an interest in becoming better equipped and connected to support

How does the Coalition build capacity?There are four areas of focus for the Coalition:

Our core approach is working in partnership to strengthen the connection and collaborationbetween the military, government & the community.
How does the Coalition define “military family”?We use a broad definition of the military family. This may include a service member or veteranand their immediate family (spouse and children). It can also mean parents, siblings, extendedfamily and friends. As a Coalition we believe that it is a community effort to support and carefor those individuals and families who serve and sacrifice for our country.
What’s coming up for the Coalition?In addition to the Symposium, we have other training, events and initiatives in the works,including phase two of the Coalition website, which will offer resource information and toolsto our partners and the community.
