When the need for jaw-dropping tone, crushing power and true flexibility collide, it’s time to power up the Double Cross®. Designed by legendary amp builder James Brown, the all-tube, 3-channel Double Cross head boldly redefines high-gain guitar am-plification with a broad spectrum of stun-ning new tones and user-modified features.

The Double Cross head offers three dis-tinctively voiced channels: Rhythm, Lead

I and Lead II. Users can modify both Lead channels with function switches located on two “Cross” designs on the control panel. These switches uniquely blend multiple 12AX7 tube stages, letting players recon-figure the gain, EQ and attack of their pre-amps – options traditionally not offered to players unless they have their amps permanently “modded” by a technician.

The two Double Cross Lead channels are

voiced differently, with Lead I catering to a modern heavy tone and Lead II offering a more traditional, high-gain “cranked amp” lead tone.

Special features include an all-tube, foot-switchable effects loop; two different 4x12 speaker cabinet emulations on the XLR Direct Out; a 6L6-EL34 bias switch for changing output tube types; and a 5-func-tion footswitch that activates each channel, a variable Boost function and effects loop.

Double Cross speaker cabinets take the classic 4x12 concept and elevate it to an art form. The top, bottom and two sides of a DC 4x12 are all cut from a single sheet of void-free Baltic Birch plywood, recognized for its rich, “woody” tone. Cutting the cabinet from a single sheet of Birch enhances the overall resonance because each piece has simi-lar structural and density patterns. Accord-ingly, the pieces resonate together, creating stronger fundamental tones and harmonics.

DC cabinets are loaded with four 12-inch Celestion™ Vintage 30 speakers, a favor-ite of professional players around the world for their fat, full-bodied tone, great defini-tion and unreal sustain. For added flex-ibility, DC 412 cabinets are wired for Ste-reo or Mono operation, which is selectable via a switch on the back of the cabinet.

The acclaimed model that originally launched the line, the Defender® 112 is a 6L6-powered, 50-watt gui-tar amp built for tone connosseurs who live for classic tube amp sound and style. Although it offers vin-tage elements such as a resonant all-Pine cabinet, the Defender also has unique features that can’t be found on any vintage amp out there.

For example, Kustom’s Duo-Mod™ preamp circuit uses Volume and Master Volume controls but in an all-new way that provides stunning clarity and articulation at any gain level: low, medium or high. A Master Volume bypass switch helps provide the penetrating tone and headroom of vintage, non-Master amplifiers – perfect for stomp box users! Other goodies include a footswitchable, variable Power Amp Boost control to get solos front and center; a Bias Ad-just switch to run EL34 or 6L6 power tubes and a Ruby® spring reverb The Contender™ is an 18-watt tone ma-

chine that borrows special features from its big brother, the Defender 112. Using a unique high-voltage 12AX7 tube preamp design, the Contender harkens back to the small tube amps of yesterday: chock full of sweet tone and snarling attitude.

A 1960s-era Pine cabinet is a key ingre-dient to its lively tone. Controls provided are Volume, Bass, Treble and Master, as well as Bright and Master Volume Bypass switches. With the Master en-gaged, it’s easy to get chunky over-driven tones that ring with clarity. With the Master Bypass switch engaged, the amp is pure old-school, eliminat-ing the Master Volume circuit entirely.

High Voltage (HV™) Amplifiers provide the punchy tone and responsive touch of classic tube amplification but with less weight and a lower price than all-tube designs. The key is an exclusive sys-tem that combines a 12AX7 preamp tube -- known for its robust tonal qualities -- with solid-state components that provide consistency and reli-ability. To maximize the tube’s dynamic range, the circuit operates at high voltages, thus the name.

The heart of HV amplifiers is the tube preamp.

All HV models have two channels, each with Gain and Master Volume controls. This Dual Master system provides natural tube overdrive and compression on either chan-nel and it’s great for dialing in medium-gain tones with ease. But when you’re ready for high gain – stand back because these mod-els bring it with a vengeance. From singing leads to heavy grinding rhythms, it’s all there.

Instead, players are given intui-tive tone-shaping tools such as perfectly dialed in EQ controls, along with more power and bigger speakers than competitive prod-ucts at similar prices. This means bigger, better tone for a player’s in-vestment. All KB models provide a

1/8-inch auxiliary input right on the front panel for playing along with MP3s or CDs. Also, all models have a 1/8-inch headphone jack that provides a strong audio signal to headphones while muting the amp’s internal speakers: perfect for late-night sessions. On 100-

and 200-watt models, a balanced XLR line output with level con-trol, effects send and return jacks and a ground lift are provided. In addition to five combo mod-els, a 200-watt amp head is avail-able in a classic wooden head for-mat or rack-mount configuration.

Digital effects on Sienna 65 and 35 models may be turned on or off using the Kustom KACFS100 foot-switch. Reverb and Cho-rus effects on the Sienna 30 may be activated with the KACFS200 footswitch.

Sienna Acoustic Amplifiers provide instrument and microphone inputs for true flexibility. The Sienna 65 offers an XLR microphone input as well as 1/4-inch inputs for active and passive instruments. The Sienna 35, 30 and 16 models each provide a 1/4-inch instrument input and a 1/4-inch, high-impedance mic/line input.
