JEREMY DONAHUE -- Head Coach (3rd Season)

Following a stellar collegiate career at Lincoln Memorial University where he was All-Gulf South Conference in 2005 and All-South Atlantic Conference in 2006 and 2007, Sevierville, Tennessee, native Jeremy Donahue begins his third season as head coach of the Railsplitter and Lady Railsplitter cross country teams.

In his final season running for the Railsplitters, Donahue won the Lee Invitational and ran a personal best time of 26:20 for an 8k race which ranks him as one of the top-10 LMU cross country runners of all time. In addition, Donahue was named team Most Valuable Runner and receivedAll-South Atlantic Conference honors that same season.

A 2000 graduate of Gatlinburg-Pittman High School and member of a state championship qualifying team in 1999, Donahue’s knowledge of the sport of cross country and of Lincoln Memorial University made him the logical choice as the successor to former Railsplitter Head Coach Brandon Gibbs.

As Donahue begins his third season as head coach, his biggest challenge has been locating and recruiting talent for the programs. The success of the two squads will be dictated by how quickly the teams can adapt to the sport at the collegiate level and how well they respond to its faster pace.

2010 MEN’S SEASON PREVIEWLooking toward the 2010 season our men feel confident they can make a jump back towards the top half of the Conference.

We return five out of the six runners we had last year, losing only Andras Pauko, and have added three new runners to help our depth (Winston Kelly, David Maldonado and Justin Patel).

We need a big step forward this year from redshirt sophomore Reid Ailey and sophomore Shane Curtsinger to close down the gap on returning junior Derrick Lindsay. Those three will be crucial to set the tone for the rest of the team as we look for more consistent performances.

A strong spring season by the top three leaves me confident they will improve upon what they accomplished in 2009, both individually and as a team.

2010 WOMEN’S SEASON PREVIEWThe 2010 season promises to present new challenges to the Lady Railsplitter squad as they no longer are a team of unknowns.

Returning juniors Sofia Lopez-Mimendi and Fiona Reinecke will attempt to duplicate their all-conference performances from last season and lead the Lady Railsplitter squad to another high finish within the conference. They will not, however, be able to do it alone, and big performances will be needed in the 4-7 spots this season to see an improvement.

Following a strong spring season, Amber Stoerp is expected to be one of our top runners and could earn an all-conference spot.

A spring knee injury and a subsequent knee surgery to SAC All-Freshman performer Ashley Robbins will put some pressure on Ashley Thomas, Kelsey Clasby, Casey Poore and newcomer Caroline Chadwell to fill her role.

With the addition of Anderson University to our conference, trying to duplicate and surpass the success of 2009 will be not be an easy task.

2009 WOMEN’S SEASON REVIEWThe 2009 season was an exciting and successful season for a team that consisted of only three sophomores and 5 freshmen. Led by 2008 SAC All-Freshmen Team runner Sofia Lopez-Mimendi, the 2009 Lady Railsplitters were destined for an improvement from the previous year that only saw two runners compete.

Throughout the 2009 season, the Lady Railsplitter squad showed steady improvement as many of them adjusted to their first collegiate season.

The first highlights of the season came at the Berea Invitational were sophomore’s Sofia Lopez-Mimendi and Fiona Reinecke placed in the Top 10.

At the Trailblazer Invitational, the Lady Railsplitter squad received a boost going into conference meet with a dominating performance as they captured the overall team title. Sofia captured her first collegiate victory while fellow runners Fiona (3rd), Ashley Robbins (7) and Ashley Thomas (9) all placed in the Top 10.

At the conference meet the Lady Railsplitter team exceeded expectations as they placed 4th, just nine points out of a top three finish. Again the women were led by Sofia and Fiona who both turned in all-conference Performances. Ashley Robbins ran her way onto the SAC All-Freshmen Team.

2009 MEN’S SEASON REVIEWLast season was a rocky one for the men. We had good individual performances throughout the year but seemed to struggle putting them together all in the same race.

The highlights from last season were a Top 10 performance by Derrick Lindsay at the Berea Invitational, accompanied by a 3rd place showing at the Trailblazer Invitational. Also in the Trailblazer Invitational, Reid Ailey finished in the Top 10 and Andras Pauko in the 15th spot.

The conference race was a disappointment for the men as a top four or five finish was expected, but a poor day on the course saw the team end up in 8th place.
