Dear Parents, We have had a beautiful day here at Holy Cross School. The Little Sisters of the Lamb joined us for our All School Mass. Their voices fill the church sing-ing Alleluia and praising God. After Mass they came to school, visited with the children, and joined the children for lunch. It was so moving to hear them share their stories of God’s call to religious life and how they dedicated themselves to prayer and the poor. As I listened to them speak to the children their faith in the will of God was so evident and truly moving. As you know, we had a raffle in order to raise funds for their order, and as a result we were able to present them with $540. (The Grand Prize Winner of the Razor Scooter is Kristin Haeusser and the Second Place Winner of the Holy Cross shirt is Ryan Gulbransen.) Thank you to you and your children for your generosity. We also gave them handmade thank you cards created by the children.

The 7th graders have come out of no-where to take control of second, while 5th, 6th, and the teachers round out the Top 5.

PARENT / TEACHER CONFERENCES

We would like to begin the process of scheduling Parent-Teacher Conferences that will be held on October 27th & 28th . We will schedule the conference times for you making every effort to keep them as close together as possible. During these conference times you will be visiting with your child’s homeroom teacher. Teachers of the special classes such as the Learning Center, Music, Art and P.E. will be available. If you would like a conference with one of the special teachers, please schedule a conference with them also. During your homeroom visit(s) the teacher will discuss with you your child’s progress and will be seeking help and input from you in order to meet your child’s needs. In order to schedule these conferences at a time that would be most convenient to you please mark the time frames listed below with a “1” for your first choice, “2” for your second choice and “3” for your third choice. The conferences will be scheduled as the forms are returned and about a week to 10 days before the conferences you will receive a note giving conference times(s). CYO 2010 – 2011 Basketball Information (3rd – 8th Grade)

Step 1: Register online with the Greater CYO Office

If you have already registered your child with CYO this school year (possibly because they are playing volleyball or football right now) you do not need to complete this step again.

CYO registration is for one school year and the fee is $23. The Registration and Parent Release form can be completed online at http://www.cyojwa.org. Players must be registered with Greater CYO in order to be added to a team roster.

Step 2: Sign-Up for Basketball with Holy Cross Basketball sign-up will take place on Monday night, 10/25 in the 8th grade classrooms (please see the sign-up schedule below). The early sign-up fee is $70 per player if paid on or before signup day. Uniforms will also be handed out during signup. If someone is unable to attend sign-up, they can pay their fee and pickup their uniform before their evaluation. However, the fee will go up to $80 per player after the 10/25 sign-up. Please Note: No player will receive a uniform or be allowed to go through evaluations unless their fee is paid. Sign-Up Deadline is Thursday, November 4th. Step 3: Attend Basketball Evaluations (5th thru 8th grade) Basketball Evaluations will begin on Monday, November 1st for 5th thru 8th grade only. Players need to wear their uniform jersey to their evaluation. If your child cannot attend the scheduled evaluation for their grade, please contact Mike Miranda to make the necessary arrangements.
