Dear Music Lovers,Friends of the China Philharmonic Orchestra,

It is with great pleasure that I invite you to the ninth season of concerts of the China Philharmonic Orchestra. As in previous seasons, we have attempted to present a wide range of programme in this season that will appeals various tastes of our concertgoers of, although, as you will discover in this season’s brochure, there are some new elements and surprises to come. Firstly, at the opening concert of this season, you will encounter Mr. Chen Qigang’s Reflet d'un temps disparu for cello and orchestra, a really contemporary musical work which will surely stimulate new feeling, new ideas and new thoughts. Mr. Jian Wang, one of the most brilliant cellist of our time, and dear friend both of the orchestra and audiences, will feature as soloist in this work. New work, as well as new pelple, is an important theme of this season and that will draw some programme together.

In this season, the China Philharmonic Orchestra will for the first time work with such great musicians as Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Jiří Belohlávek, Pinchas Zukerman, Midori, Christoph Eschenbach, Lynn Harrell, Neeme Järvi, Anne Akiko Meyers. They will join this season with many familiar names including Lang Lang, Kun Woo Paik, Jacek Kaspszyk, Yundi Li and Sumi Jo.

To perform opera in concert is always a great pleasure not noly for the China Philharmonic Orchestra and I but also for many of the audiences. At last we have the chance to present one of the most delightful and tuneful masterpieces from the literature of Viennese operetta, Franz Lehár’s Die lustige Witwe (The Merry Widow). I hope you will share with us the sheer beauty and elegance of the music. And at the opening gala of the 12th Beijing Music Festival, Mr. Jari Hämäläinen wll lead the China Phiharmicic in the China premiere of Verdi’s Macbeth, a co-prodution with the BMF, the Savonlinna Opera Festival from Finland and the Shanghai Opera House.

Smetana’s Má vlast (My Fatherland) is a feature of this season. I think most of us are very familiar with Vltava, but seldom have we attended a concert with a programme of all of the six symphonic poems of Má vlast. And what a experience it will be to hear the great epic interpreted by a distinguished conductor - Jiří Belohlávek – who comes from the composer’s homeland!

In April and May 2010, in springtime - ‘the only pretty ring-time’ as Shakespeare called it, the China Philharmonic Orchestra will celebrate 10th anniversary of its founding. I’m confident that all of you will find something special, exciting, moving and memorable from the five splendid celebration concerts.

I look forward to see you attending performances in the 2009-2010 season of the China Philharmonic Orchestra and wish you musical experiences with its strength and beauty, grandeur and delicacy, passion and tranquility.

友的品位，而你们从这本宣传册中会发现，即将到来的这个新的音乐季会有一些新的因素和惊喜。首先，在开幕式音乐会上，将演奏陈其

钢先生为大提琴和乐队而作的的《逝去的时光》，作为一首不折不扣的当代新作，它定会激发新的感受、新的观念和新的思绪。在此曲中

担任独奏的是当今最杰出的大提琴演奏家之一王健先生，也是中国爱乐乐团和诸位听众的老朋友。新人新作将作为本音乐季的一个主题贯

穿于多场演出。

在本音乐季里，中国爱乐乐团将迎来几位首次合作的杰出音乐家：杰纳迪·罗日杰斯特文斯基、吉里·贝洛莱维克、平克斯·祖克

曼、宓多里、克里斯托夫·艾森巴赫、内米·雅尔维、林恩·哈勒尔、安妮·秋子·迈耶斯。同时还有我们熟悉的面孔：郎朗、白建宇、

雅切克·卡斯普契克、李云迪和曹秀美。

演出音乐会歌剧不仅是中国爱乐乐团和我本人的乐趣，更是听众的期待。我们终于有机会上演维也纳轻歌剧文献中最轻松惬意、也

最悠扬悦耳的杰作之一——弗朗茨·莱哈尔的《风流寡妇》。希望大家与我们分享音乐中的醇美和雅致。在第12届北京国际音乐节开幕

式上，中国爱乐乐团将在雅里·海迈莱嫩指挥下参加由北京国际音乐节、芬兰萨沃林纳歌剧节和上海歌剧院联合制作的威尔第歌剧《麦克

白》的演出。

斯美塔那的《我的祖国》是本音乐季引人瞩目的演出之一。我相信我们大多数人都对《沃尔塔瓦河》耳熟能详，却鲜有机会在音乐会

上听到《我的祖国》的六首交响诗。聆听来自作曲家故乡的杰出指挥家吉里·贝洛莱维克完整阐释这部伟大的音乐史诗，将带来何等难得

的感受！

在2010年4、5月间，正值美好的春日——莎士比亚称之为“惟一叮当作响的美妙季节”，中国爱乐乐团将迎来她的十周年庆典。我可

以断言，我们的五场精彩纷呈的庆典音乐会一定会在你们心中激起别样的兴奋、感怀和难忘的精神体验。

中国爱乐乐团是在中国广播交响乐团基础上组建的国家级交响乐团, 成立于2000年5月25日，直属于中国国家广播电影电视总局，

由中央电视台管理。胡恩任中国爱乐乐团团长，余隆担任艺术总监和首席指挥。中国爱乐乐团以推动中国交响乐事业为使命，确立了

“国内一流、亚洲前列、世界著名”的发展目标。

2000年12月16日，中国爱乐乐团在余隆指挥下在北京举行了隆重的首演音乐会，获得巨大成功。中国爱乐乐团已走过八个音乐

季的历程，赢得了世界范围的广泛瞩目和赞誉。2001年9月至2002年7月第一个音乐季的重要演出包括当代作曲大师菲利普·格拉斯大

提琴协奏曲的世界首演、马勒的《大地之歌》、柏辽兹的《浮士德的沉沦》以及由中国爱乐乐团委约创作的京剧交响乐《杨门女将》

等。在2002－2003音乐季中，余隆指挥中国爱乐乐团与近千名中外音乐家一道，完成了马勒第八《千人》交响曲的中国首演，成为

中国当代乐坛具有历史意义的演出盛事。该音乐季推出了“不朽的贝多芬”系列音乐会，乐团在余隆及多位指挥家的指挥下，与来

自国内外的优秀音乐家合作，在九场音乐会上演奏了贝多芬的全部交响曲、协奏曲和大部分序曲。此系列音乐会的最后一场尤其令人

瞩目，余隆指挥中国爱乐乐团对贝多芬第九《合唱》交响曲的雄浑阐释令人信服地证明，经过两个音乐季的成长，中国爱乐乐团已当

之无愧地跻身于亚洲最优秀的交响乐团之列。随着2003－2004音乐季的结束，中国爱乐乐团最终完成了跨越三个音乐季的庞大音乐工

程——将马勒的全部交响曲呈现给中国听众。中国爱乐乐团还相继举行了纪念德沃夏克逝世100周年、莫扎特诞辰250周年和肖斯塔科

维奇诞辰100周年系列音乐会。乐团还成功地演出了《卡门》、《罗密欧与朱丽叶》等中外歌剧，展示了作为艺术全能型乐团所具有的

实力和水准。

中国爱乐乐团由余隆率领在国内外进行了广泛巡演。2001年9月，乐团在台北、新竹、台中和高雄举行了音乐会。2002年6月赴中

北美洲，在波多黎各的卡萨尔斯音乐节上，分别由余隆和乐团首席客座指挥、著名作曲家和指挥家克里斯托夫·潘德列茨基指挥了两

场音乐会，之后在圣何塞和洛杉矶等地进行美国西海岸巡演，获得巨大成功。同年9月赴日本和韩国演出，2003年9月，乐团在余隆率

领下出访欧洲，在巴黎国家歌剧院、华沙国家大剧院和维也纳音乐之友协会金色大厅举行了极为成功的演出。2004年12月，乐团应邀

在意大利共和国议会大厅演出了由余隆指挥的圣诞音乐会，意大利国家电视台通过欧洲联播节目转播了该场音乐会，引起巨大反响。

2005年2月至4月，中国爱乐乐团在艺术总监余隆率领下远涉重洋，举行了中国音乐史上空前规模的环球世界巡演，历时40余天，

在美国、加拿大、意大利、斯洛文尼亚、克罗地亚、英国、德国等国家的22个城市成功举行音乐会，其巡演时间之长，涉足地域之

广，演出场次之多，不仅在中国乐团出访史上前所未有，在全亚洲的交响乐团中也属罕见，引起了国际社会的广泛关注。包括在纽约

林肯中心音乐厅、伦敦巴比肯中心音乐厅和柏林爱乐音乐厅等地演出的音乐会均引起巨大轰动，受到包括美国《纽约时报》、英国

《泰晤士报》、德国《法兰克福汇报》等媒体的盛赞。2008年5月，中国爱乐乐团应邀访问梵蒂冈，由余隆在举世闻名的保罗六世大

厅指挥演出了莫扎特的《安魂曲》和中国乐曲《茉莉花》，受到包括教皇在内的七千余名听众的热烈欢迎。此举被国内外媒体称为音

乐外交的“破冰之旅”。

2009年，中国爱乐乐团被素有“全球古典音乐第一刊”之誉的英国《留声机》杂志评为“世界十大最具影响力的乐团”之一，同

时入选的有柏林爱乐乐团、伦敦交响乐团和纽约爱乐乐团等。此举表明，经过中国爱乐乐团近十年坚持不懈的努力，中国爱乐乐团开

始跻身于令国际乐坛瞩目的主流乐团之列。

中国爱乐乐团与国内外众多优秀音乐家有过成功合作，其中包括克里斯托夫·潘德列茨基、夏尔·迪图瓦、弗拉基米尔·阿什

肯纳奇、奥科·卡姆、马克·埃尔德爵士、克劳斯·彼得·弗洛尔、汤沐海、水蓝、郎朗、李云迪、米哈伊尔·普雷特涅夫、伊曼

中国爱乐乐团在余隆指挥下为德意志唱片公司录制的唱片包括瓦格纳的歌剧《唐豪瑟》序曲和由勋伯格改编为乐队版的勃拉姆斯

G小调钢琴四重奏、中国管弦乐作品集以及由郎朗担任独奏的钢琴协奏曲《黄河》。

China Philharmonic Orchestra Under the auspices of China Radio, Film and Television Bureau, the China Philharmonic Orchestra was established on May 25, 2000, on the basis of the former China Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra. Hu En is the President, Long Yu is the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor.

The founding of the CPO marks the beginning of a new chapter in the history of symphonic music in China and also the incorporation of the classical music performance in China into the family of the top musical events in the world. In line with the standard world practice, the CPO contracts its players from both China and other parts of the world. With its unswerving commitment to quality and determined efforts, it now ranks among the largest and most promising orchestras in Asia.

On December 16, 2000, the China Philharmonic Orchestra gave a highly acclaimed inaugural concert in Beijing under the baton of its artistic director, Long Yu. The CPO's first season ran from September 2001 to July 2002, during which it offered a repertoire of different genres and styles from different periods. Among the highlights are the world premier of the Philip Glass’ Concerto for Cello and Orchestra, performances of Gustav Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde, and China premiers of Hector Berlioz's La Damnation de Faust and Du Mingxin's Symphonic Peking Opera Female Generals from Yang Family, commissioned by the CPO. The 2002-2003 season's highlights include the China premiere, under the inspiring baton of maestro Long Yu, of the largest works in the orchestral literature - Mahler's Symphony No.8, "Symphony of a Thousand", featuring nearly one thousand musicians, and the major orchestral works of "The Immortal Beethoven". The season of 2003-2004 is featured by Mahler’s Symphonies Nos. 2, 3, 6, 7 and 9 thus bringing the Mahler series to a successful conclusion; one of the other theme of this season was Dvořák series - all his symphonies were performed to mark the 100th anniversary of the great composer’s death. Events of special significance are the CPO's semi-staged production of Bizet's Carmen - with Long Yu performing as both conductor and stage director - and playing in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette and other operas.

No less important than its home performances, the CPO has toured, since 2002 over thirty countries and regions. Performing in such prestigious concert halls as Avery Fisher Hall, United States, Palais Garnier, France, Barbican Hall, Great Briton, Berlin Philharmonie, Germany, Grosser Saal of the Musikverein, Austria, the Senate Main Hall, Italy, the Teatr Wielki-National Opera Warsaw, Poland, Suntory, Japan, CPO impressed the common audience, music professionals and media, international as well as local. New York Times, Times and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitungand acclaimed CPO as the pride of Chinese people and Chinese culture, deserving a place among the first rate orchestras in the world. Last but not the least, CPO performed Mozart’s Requiem on May 7, 2008 at Paul VI Audience Hall, Vatican, in honor of Pope Benedict VIX, an event globally reported as art bridging cultural and political differences.

In the past eight years, the CPO’s achievement is also demonstrated by its successful cooperation with more than a few prominent musicians both domestic and overseas. Among them are Krzysztof Penderecki, Charles Dutoit, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Okko Kamu, Sir Mark Elder, Claus Peter Flor, Muhai Tang, Lan Shui, Lang Lang, Yndi Li, Mikhail Pletnev, Emanuel Ax, Kun Woo Paik, Anatol Ugorski, Gerhard Oppitz, Gary Graffman, Itzhak Perlman, Nigel Kennedy, Augustin Dumay, Sara Chang, Cho-Liang Lin, Mischa Maisky, Josef Silverstein, Jian Wang, Sabine Mayer, Placido Domingo, Renée Fleming and Cheryl Studer.

In 2009, the China Philharmonic Orchestra was selected by the Gramophone, which is widely regarded as the best classical music magazine in the world, as one of “the world’s 10 most inspiring orchestras” along with the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony and the New York Philharmonic. In the views of the Gramophone consulting jury comprising leading instrumentalists, the China Philharmonic Orchestra are “for almost single-handedly bringing Western classical music to the ears and hearts of a vast nation, for whom it had been forbidden for decades. They have taken it upon themselves to educate the country, and (alongside others) are making a pretty good job of it.”

The CPO made recordings for Deutsche Gramophone under Long Yu's direction. Among them are Wagner's Tannhäuser Overture and Schoenberg's orchestration of Brahms’s Piano Quartet in G minor, Chinese orchestral works and the Piano Concerto Yellow River with Lang Lang.

余隆艺术总监 / 首席指挥 As one of the most distinguished Chinese conductors with an established international reputation, Maestro Long Yu is currently Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the China Philharmonic Orchestra, Music Director of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Music Director of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Artistic Director of the Beijing Music Festival.

As the first Chinese conductor to be invited to conduct one of the “Big Five” orchestras of the America, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and as one who conducts the world top-class orchestras most frequently among Chinese conductors, Maestro Long Yu has appeared with a prestigious list of leading orchestras and opera companies around the world, including the Chicago Symphony, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Washington National Symphony, the Orchestre de Paris, the Bamberg Symphony, the Hamburg State Opera, the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, the Rundfunk Sinfonie Orchester Leipzig, the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Sydney Symphony, the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the Tokyo Philharmonic and the Singapore Symphony.

Long Yu was born in 1964 into a family of musicians in Shanghai. Musical education in his early childhood came from his grandfather Ding Shande, a composer of great renown, and he later studied at the Shanghai Conservatory and the Hochschule der Kunst in Berlin.

Long Yu’s career has included both artistic and administrative appointments. In 1992, he was appointed Principal Conductor of the Central Opera Theatre in Beijing, and in the same year, he was involved in the planning of the first Beijing New Year’s Concert and served as its conductor for three consecutive years. He also produced operas for The Urban Council of Hong Kong for five successive years. In 1998, he led the creation of the Beijing Music Festival and was its Founding Artistic Director. Under his leadership the Beijing Music Festival is regarded as the largest classical music festival in the eastern hemisphere and one of the world’s most important music festivals. During the past 11years at this annual autumn festival there have been many splendid concerts given by leading orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic and the New York Philharmonic, as well as outstanding productions of the Ring, Der Rosenkavalier, Tannhäuser, La Traviata, Nabucco, Lulu and Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District by visiting opera companies including the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Teatro la Fenice and the Mariinsky Theatre.

In 2000, Long Yu co-founded the China Philharmonic Orchestra and was appointed Artistic Director and Principal Conductor. Now entering his 9th season with the China Philharmonic, he has maintained the high standard of orchestral performance and artistic administration and built the ensemble’s reputation as not only a leading Chinese orchestra but also a world-famous one. In 2003, Long Yu was appointed the Music Director of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra and he has been raising the level and fame of the orchestra rapidly. He toured extensively with both the China Philharmonic and the Guangzhou Symphony. In September 2003, under his leadership, the China Philharmonic Orchestra toured Europe, with memorable concerts at the Palais Garnier, Paris, the Teatr Wielki - National Opera Warsaw and the Grosser Saal of the Musikverein, Vienna. In December of the same year he undertook a major European and Egyptian tour with the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra and Mischa Maisky, giving concerts at Theatre des Champs-Élysées, Paris, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Luxemburg, Cairo Opera House and Alexander Opera House. From February to April 2005, he led the China Philharmonic Orchestra on an international tour. With in 40 days they appeared in 22 cities throughout North America and Europe. In 2008, for the first time in history, the China Philharmonic Orchestra performed under the baton of maestro Long Yu at the Vatican in the Paul VI Auditorium. The concert was attended by The Holy Father Pope Benedict XIV and marked a giant step in bringing eastern and western cultures closer together. In April 2009 the China Philharmonic Orchestra was selected by the Gramophone, which is widely regarded as the best classical music magazine in the world, as one of “the world’s 10 most inspiring orchestras”.

Maestro Long Yu’s reputation has been enhanced by his activities as a widely admired and respected figure in administration of orchestras and festival as well as in international exchanging of musical culture. As a champion of contemporary music Long Yu has been commissioning a number of works from today’s prominent composers such as Krzysztof Penderecki, Philip Glass, Guo Wenjing, Tan Dun, Ye Xiaogang and Unsuk Chin.

Mr. Long Yu’s recordings include, on Deutsche Grammophon with the China Philharmonic, Brahms’s Piano Quartet in G Minor (orch. Arnold Schoenberg) and Wagner’s Tannhäuser Overture, highlights of Chinese symphonic music and Yellow River Concerto with Lang Lang as featured soloist. Recordings on Naxos include Korngold’s Violin Concerto and Ding Shande’s Long March Symphony.

Long Yu received the 2002 Montblanc Arts Patronage Award from the Montblanc Cultural Foundation, and in 2003 came Le grade de chevalier dans l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres (The Honor of Chevalier of French Art and Culture) from the Government of France. In 2005, Italian President honored Maestro Long Yu L’onorificenza di commendatore.

余隆是活跃于当今国际乐坛的最杰出的中国指挥家之一。现任中国爱乐乐团艺术总监和首席指挥、广州交响乐团音乐总监、上海交响乐

团音乐总监和北京国际音乐节艺术总监。

作为第一位应邀指挥美国五大交响乐团之一费城交响乐团的中国指挥家，也是与世界顶尖级交响乐团合作最多的华人指挥家，余隆与众

多世界各地知名交响乐团和歌剧院有着广泛合作，其中包括芝加哥交响乐团、费城交响乐团、洛杉矶爱乐乐团、华盛顿国家交响乐团、巴黎管

弦乐团、班贝格交响乐团、汉堡国家歌剧院、柏林广播交响乐团、莱比锡广播交响乐团、威尼斯凤凰歌剧院、悉尼交响乐团、香港管弦乐团、

东京爱乐乐团和新加坡交响乐团等。

余隆1964年出生于上海的音乐世家，自幼随外祖父、著名作曲家丁善德教授学习音乐。后求学于上海音乐学院和德国柏林高等艺术大

学。先后受教于中国音乐教育家黄晓同教授和德国歌剧指挥家鲁宾斯坦教授等名师。出色的音乐天赋以及优越的音乐教育为余隆的艺术生涯奠

定了坚实基础，使得他能够迅速成长为一位成就卓著的指挥家。

余隆的艺术生涯涵盖指挥和艺术管理领域。1992年，余隆担任中央歌剧院常任指挥。同年，他创办了首届北京新年音乐会，并连续三年

担任指挥，开启国内演出新年音乐会之先河。1993年起，余隆连续五年为香港市政局指挥歌剧演出。1998年，余隆发起创办了北京国际音乐

节，担任艺术总监。在他的出色领导下，北京国际音乐节不仅成为中国和亚洲规模最大的音乐节，也跻身于全球最重要的音乐节之列。在过去

十一年间，金秋时节的北京国际音乐节上呈现了由众多著名乐团如柏林爱乐乐团和纽约爱乐乐团演出的精彩音乐会以及柏林德意志歌剧院、威

尼斯凤凰歌剧院和圣彼得堡马林斯基剧院等带来的歌剧盛典，如《尼伯龙根的指环》、《玫瑰骑士》、《唐豪瑟》、《茶花女》、《纳布科》、

《璐璐》和《姆钦斯克县的麦克白夫人》。

2000年，余隆参与创建了中国爱乐乐团，并担任艺术总监和首席指挥。余隆期望通过与众多世界知名音乐家的合作，使中国爱乐乐团发展

成一个全能型职业化乐团，不仅向全世界介绍优秀的中国交响乐作品，也使得中国音乐家对西方音乐各时期及各种风格作品的演奏达到全新水

准，并且在不同音乐形式上均有建树。余隆指挥中国爱乐乐团举行了许多大型作品的中国首演。2002年10月，作为第五届北京国际音乐节开幕

式音乐会，余隆指挥包括中国爱乐乐团在内的近千名中外音乐家演出了马勒的第八《千人》交响曲，完成了这部宏伟巨作的历史性中国首演。

2001年9月，余隆率中国爱乐乐团在台湾地区举行了成功的巡回演出。2002年6月，余隆率中国爱乐乐团参加了波多黎各的卡萨尔斯音乐

进行大规模巡演，在巴黎香榭丽舍剧院、卢森堡音乐学院音乐厅、荷兰阿姆斯特丹音乐厅、开罗歌剧院和亚历山大音乐厅演出。2005年2月至4月，余隆率领中国爱乐乐团进行了规模空前的环球世界巡演，历时四十多天，跨越北美和欧洲，不仅在中国乐团出访史上前所未有，在全亚洲

交响乐团中亦属罕见。2008年5月7日晚，余隆指挥中国爱乐乐团和上海歌剧院合唱团在梵蒂冈城保罗六世礼堂为教宗本笃十六世及八千余名听

众演出了莫扎特的《安魂曲》，成为令全世界瞩目的重要文化盛事。英国《卫报》称此次意义非凡的演出为“中梵借音乐外交‘破冰’”。

余隆作为出色的乐团和音乐节领导者为推动东西方音乐文化交流作出了卓越贡献。他大力倡导当代音乐，他领导下的北京国际音乐节、

中国爱乐乐团和广州交响乐团等机构和团体向当今最重要的作曲家委约创作，包括克里斯托夫·潘德列茨基、菲利普·格拉斯、郭文景、谭

盾、叶小刚和陈银淑等。

余隆指挥的录音包括德意志唱片公司录制发行、中国爱乐乐团演奏的勃拉姆斯G小调钢琴四重奏（阿诺德·勋伯格配器）和瓦格纳的《唐

豪瑟》序曲、中国管弦乐作品集以及由郎朗担任钢琴独奏的钢琴协奏曲《黄河》。拿索斯公司发行有余隆指挥的科恩格尔德的小提琴协奏曲和

丁善德的《长征交响曲》。

鉴于余隆在推动当今世界古典音乐事业发展和促进国际间文化交流方面所做的突出贡献，2002年，德国万宝龙文化基金会向余隆颁发了

年度“万宝龙卓越艺术成就奖”；2003年，法国政府特别授予余隆“法兰西文学艺术骑士勋章”；2005年，意大利政府向余隆颁发了“共和国

骑士勋章”。
