Cloth Tapes

Choosing a Duct Tape

Duct Tapes - Duct tapes offer triple-layerconstruction consisting of a polyethyleneplastic backing for waterproofing, a clothmiddle layer that provides strength andaffords a straight tear, and a rubber-basedadhesive for durable holding power. Economyduct tapes offer good adhesion in short-term,low-stress applications on relatively cleansurfaces with light weather exposure. Multipur-pose tapes have a higher thread countfor greater strength, a thicker PE backingfor increased durability, and more adhesivefor better holding power. Premium-grade tapesare constructed for long-term, demandingapplications. They often contain additives orspecial formulations which provide resistanceto sunlight and harsh conditions.

Double-sided Tapes – Double-sided tapes aremade by coating both sides of a cloth layerwith adhesive and then winding the tapearound a liner. These tapes are very useful forcarpet positioning in convention centers, PEsheet tacking in construction or abatement,and general bonding applications.

Gaffer’s Tapes – Berry Plastics’ mattefinish gaffer’s tapes prevent unwanted lightreflection for staging and blocking applicationsin the stage and film industry. Gaffer’s tapesfeature a non-reflective vinyl coating, highquality cloth for crisp, straight tears in eitherdirection, and a specially formulated adhesivethat inhibits residue formation.

Specialty Tapes – Uncoated cloth, nuclear grade duct tapes, and wire harness tapes are examples of the array of cloth tapes that Berry Plastics has designed for our customers’ unique and specialized applications.

Due to a simple dual-layer construction, filmtapes offer good stability and may be less likely than cloth tape to separate in certainharsh conditions. However, the lack of a clothlayer decreases the tapes’ tensile strength and results in a jagged tear. For this reason,Berry's Tapes & Coatings Division offers pinked edges on many of our film tapes. Film tapes may also be more flexible and conformable than cloth tapes due to their low profile. This makes them ideal for patching and adhering to round or uneven surfaces.

Recommended Storage Conditions:

Basic ideal storage conditions for the pressure sensitive products manufactured by Berry Plastics are:

In original dry carton.

Off of the floor.

In a well ventilated area.

With temperatures between sixty to eighty degrees Fahrenheit.

With a relative humidity of 40-60%.

Exclusive Warranty

Seller warrants its tape to be free from defect in materials and workmanship, but limits its obligation under this warranty to replacement, or at its option, reimbursement of the purchaseprice, of tape shown to Seller’s satisfaction to have been defective at the time Seller sold.

Seller neither makes, nor shall be bound by any other warranty, express, implied statutory or otherwise. Under no circumstances will Seller be liable for any loss, damage, expense orconsequential damage of any kind arising in connection with the use of or inability to use its tape.
