1 2007 Tennis Leadership Camp Staff Biographies Bev Bourguet Pro/Counselor Valerie Chin Camp Coordinator/ Counselor Andrew Feldman Teambuilding/Counselor Bev Bourguet serves as a USTA volunteer on a national, sectional and district level. She is a member of the USTA NJTL National Committee, present Treasurer and Diversity Chair of the Southwest Section, and a current board member and a Past President of the Northern New Mexico Tennis Association. Her VAMOS! NJTL program was recently recognized by the Racquet Sport Industry as the 2007 Grassroots Program of the Year. Bev resides in Albuquerque, NM Valerie Chin is the Outreach Coordinator in the Outreach & Advocacy Department at the USTA. She organizes many of the National Junior Tennis League (NJTL) programs like Regional Rallies, the Tennis Leadership Camp, and the Arthur Ashe Essay Contest. Most recently Valerie has been coordinating volunteers and activities for Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Before the USTA, Valerie worked in account management for the public service advertising agency the Ad Council and in business development at the experiential design firm, ESI. Valerie was born in New York and grew up in Connecticut. She has a bachelor’s degree in business administration (marketing) from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg , VA. Valerie enjoys playing tennis recreationally, but admits that she could use a lesson or two. Valerie resides in Greenwich, CT. Andrew Feldman is the USTA Volunteer Development Manager, serving as a resource on volunteerism for the local, district, section, and national levels of the USTA. Before working with the USTA, he was the Assistant Director for Community Service at the University of Vermont, where he involved college students in one- time and ongoing volunteer opportunities. He has conducted teambuilding workshops for hundreds of corporate, non-profit, and school-based clients in Colorado and Vermont. Andrew is a native New Yorker who attended the University of Virginia for his undergraduate degree and Colorado State University for his master's. Andrew resides in Mamaroneck, NY

Chris Fortney is the Director of Tennis for Gold’s Gym in Douglasville, Georgia, part of the Douglasville/West Cobb chain which has won numerous International awards including Best New Gym Worldwide and Best Customer Service Worldwide. He has worked with the NJTL for three years and has been apart of the Arthur Ashe Kids Day at the US Open. Chris is a USPTA Certified Professional and is in charge of the Cardio Tennis Program at Gold’s Gym. He is also the Military Consultant for Outreach and Diversity Departments. Chris was the Tournament Director for the 20th Annual Douglas Charity Tournament which raised over $11,000 in 2005. Chris resides in Douglasville, GA

Fred Johnson: Prior to arriving at the USTA/Missouri Valley Section in 1996, Fred served three years as Athletic/Unit Director at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Kansas City where he managed the day-to-day operations of the facility. In 1996, Johnson established "Tennis in the Hood", a program that brings the game of tennis to children and adults in the urban areas. He was also instrumental in heightening awareness in the Oklahoma Native American Tennis Association and getting the first Native American appointed to the USTA National Multicultural Committee. Through his efforts, the Oklahoma Native American Tennis Association has been receiving funds for their national tournament for the past seven years. A member of the PTR for 15 years (Professional Tennis Registry), Fred is also very active in other local organizations such as WIN for KC (Women's Intersport Network); Stephanie Waterman Foundation. Fred resides in Kansas City, MO

Rudy Lewis has been a manager in billing, revenue, and data processing for BellSouth in Birmingham, Alabama for 31 years. In 1995 he helped establish the James Lewis Tennis Scholarship Foundation. He is currently the Secretary and Program Coordinator for the Foundation. He also helped initiate the Birmingham Area Tennis Association and now serves as its vice-president. In 2001 he became a certified Professional Tennis Registry tennis instructor, and has been overseeing junior programs for over 4 years. Recently, Rudy was inducted into the Alabama Tennis Hall of Fame. He also serves on USTA’s NJTL National Committee. Rudy resides in Birmingham, AL

Dan Limbago is the National Manager of NJTL where is manages projects such as the Ford Foundation Community Building Project, the After-School Intermediary strategy, and Capacity Building. Previously with the Intermountain Section of the USTA, he served as the Director of Junior Recreation and Multicultural Participation. Prior to joining the USTA family he worked at an internet startup outside of Boulder, CO, where he also spent time as a teaching pro and graduate student. Dan received his Master's Degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and his B.A. from Carleton College, both in philosophy. He and his wife Andrea are the happy and exhausted parents of two young children, Joselyn and Noah. Dan resides in King George, VA Yasmine Osborn is the Diversity, Grants & NJTL Coordinator for the USTA Southern Section. Prior to her current position, she was the Diversity Coordinator for the Midwest Section and was responsible for conducting Multicultural Junior Development Camps and working with local NJTL programs to increase participation and funding. Yasmine also put together the first USTA Midwest Section Junior Excellence Camp. As a former player for both Kansas State University and Northwest Missouri State University, she was recently inducted into the 2006 M-Club Hall of Fame for many achievements including the Northwest record with 27 singles wins and 28 doubles in a single season. She holds a Masters Degree in Sports Management from the University of Georgia. Yasmine resides in Atlanta, GA Melissa Pine is the Sr. Manager of Development for online/new media sponsorship at the USTA. Prior to the USTA, Melissa was the Assistant Coach at Washington State University where she coached several nationally ranked singles and doubles players while also pursuing her MBA. During her graduate studies, Melissa spent summer semesters doing volunteer community development projects in villages in Thailand and Africa with non-government organizations. As a collegiate player, she played the #1 singles/doubles positions on the nationally ranked Washington State team, was a Pac-10 Conference Academic All-American, and was awarded the Pac-10 Conference Post-Graduate Scholarship. Melissa is also currently a part-time tennis instructor in Queens, NY and enjoys teaching tennis to children.

Chris Samuel is a Certified USPTA and PTR Instructor. She is the Cardio Tennis Instructor for Forest Crest Athletic Club and a Program Assistant for the Redmond Parks Department in the State of Washington. Previously she was the Community Tennis Coordinator for the USTA Pacific Northwest Section. In her 5 years with the organization, she managed the NJTL and Diversity programs. She developed the Multicultural Participation Intersectional College Workshop along with the annual Summit Seekers/Seattle NJTL Invitational Camp. She has been recognized for her leadership with inclusion and youth programs. Chris attended San Diego State University and her daughter participated in NJTL and will play high school tennis. Chris resides in Kenmore, WA

Tony Stingley has been the USTA Northern Diversity Specialist since 1997 and is also the Section Schools Coordinator. He previously served on the Northern Section Multicultural Council as a volunteer for 3 years. He has worked as a tennis official at both the section level and national level, officiating at the US Open for 7 years. Tony is a certified PTR Professional, USPTA Developmental Coach and National RCW Trainer. His two sons participated in NJTL programs; one played division II college tennis and is now the director of a tennis and learning center, the other plays high school tennis. Tony resides in St. Paul, MN Christina Walker is a recent '07 graduate from Carleton College in Minnesota. She has coached tennis for over 5 years and has played since she was 5. She also worked with the leadership camp once before two years ago and interned with NJTL who sponsors the leadership camp. As a counselor she has vast experience with kids from her work in babysitting, teaching tennis, tutoring Spanish, as well as her contact with her two other sisters. She looks forward to meeting everyone and having a great time with you all! Christina resides in Highland Ranch, CO
